Thinking this morning about names, the rectification of. Polis. “The major meanings are “state” and “community.” see wiki> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polis

In the present zone west, in the US especially, the people, having no power, seem akin to slaves or subjects, ie not members of the polis. This group is, as subject, able to watch, not to excercise power…and the polis, representing the state power, does as it may. So it seems anyway.

That said, the slaves, the subjects, might rise and grasp power…as the personable creature Obama said, my bring “pitchforks”. One of the primary worries of the polis seems to be that potential.  And a singular feature of ruling the subjects is, obviously, to create among them factionalism and thus make them unable to grasp the garden tools. Slave revolt was, they say, also a big worry in Athens.
