Daily Chronicles

The Daily Chronicles are snippets of the most important news across the world for this and each day as it rolls in – as such, this thread is non-structured with the latest news on top.

Please take note of Andrei Martyanov on the Girkin and Gubarev arrests today. This may be the start of rolling up some of the ‘columns’. http://smoothiex12.blogspot.com/2023/07/well-about-time.html

A big Blackmail going on …

African officials state US is pressuring them to not travel to St. Petersburg for Russia-Africa summit but instead condemn Russia for ending grain deal, despite Putin proposing a replacement initiative that would send food directly to countries in need.

African states are in a pickle because some of them rely on American “assistance” for their economy and security.

Understand why I say that a stance of non-alignment is not going to work for a while into the future.   One simply becomes a magnet for twisting elbows and for making yourself a target for further blackmail and pressure and dirty deeds.

Mr Putin had a blistering speech this morning at his Security Council.  While we wait for a full transcript, this is something that he said:

Polish leaders expect to form coalition under NATO, intervene in conflict in Ukraine and tear off bigger piece (of country), Warsaw would like to get some of the land in Belarus – Putin.

This is a summary from the channel DD Geopolitics, previously Donbas Devushka

➡️There are no results of the Ukrainian counter-offensive

➡️Western curators in Kiev are clearly disappointed with the results of the so-called counter-offensive

➡️Ukraine’s mobilization resource is depleted. Losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine amount to tens of thousands of people

➡️The Polish-Lithuanian-Ukrainian military unit is planned to be used for the subsequent occupation of Ukraine

➡️Unleashing aggression against Belarus will mean aggression against Russia, Moscow will respond with all available means

➡️In Europe, public opinion is changing, they understand that supporting Ukraine is a dead end.

➡️Putin called the western territories of present-day Poland “Stalin’s gift to the Poles”

➡️Putin instructed the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service Naryshkin to monitor Poland’s plans for Ukraine

▫️Last night the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation carried out another strike with long-range sea-based precision weapons against sites where terrorist acts against the Russian Federation were being prepared using strike drones.

▫️The goal of the attack has been reached. All the assigned targets have been neutralised.

▫️The AFU continued unsuccessful attempts to conduct offensive actions in Donetsk, Krasny Liman and South Donetsk directions.

Anyone for a little crass Medvedev this morning.

Medvedev’s opinion on Borrell recent declarations:

Borrell has a severe verbal diarrhoea about the grain deal. It’s all our fault, starving the planet and depriving peaceful Ukrainian Banderites of their legitimate livelihood.

We should put him on a strict diet. Just water, that’s all. Borrell and his kind of arseholes run to hide the bushes as soon as the grain must go to Africa. “We don’t know anything, we only take grain for our own fat-faced Europeans.” And when they and the [Ukrainian] addicts got nailed, they claim to be starving.

So let them make up their minds: either Europe will finally fulfil our fair demands on trade in Russian grain, or let them just curb their appetite. Otherwise, this Borrell and his pets, who eat at the drop of a hat, may inadvertently die, drowning in their stinking excrement.

Igor Girkin, commonly known as Strelkov has been detained.   Most of us would know the character and the name, but RT has some history: https://www.rt.com/russia/580074-igor-strelkov-militia-detained/

Russian Defence Ministry report on the progress of the special military operation

(20 July 2023)

https://t.me/mod_russia_en/8496

▫️Tonight the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continued the strikes with sea- and air-based precision weapons against production workshops and storage sites for unmanned boats near Odessa and Ilyichyovsk (Odessa region).

▫️In addition, fuel infrastructure facilities and ammunition depots of the AFU have been destroyed close to Nikolayev.

▫️The goal of the attack has been reached. All the assigned targets have been neutralised.

▫️The AFU continued to attempt offensive actions in Donetsk, Krasny Liman and South Donetsk directions.

Commentary by Danny Haiphong:

Henry Kissinger meets officials in China, including top diplomat Wang Yi and President Xi Jinping.

Xi reiterated Kissinger’s role in facilitating normalized ties between the U.S. and China more than 50 years ago.

Kissinger remarked that peace between the two countries was essential to each of their future success.

Kissinger’s visit once again had a “secret” character similar to the July 1972 secret meeting. The meeting was held at the invitation of Beijing in the same location as where normalization talks took place.

The message is clear: China 🇨🇳 demands the US fulfill its obligations to act as a normal country and is willing to provide a history lesson in real time to reinforce this demand.

That Kissinger met with Xi Jinping in Beijing before Joe Biden is a signal to the US that China understands where the two countries are and the responsibility resides at the feet of the current US administration.

The de facto end of the Grain deal is providing much ammo in the propaganda sphere with comments such as ‘Putin Starves Africa’.  The movement of Russian grain (I am not sure of fertilizers) will be solved with the Africans at the imminent Russia–Africa Summit.  This summit will be wide-ranging, from sports, future technologies, medical and bio-technologies exchanges, culture, space technologies, business and trade, current geo-political status and more tracks.

The more important issue here is the de facto denial of the Black Sea to the warmongers.  Nat South reports that she cannot find the paperwork that undergirds a naval blockade such as this, so much is not known.  The ship and cargo insurers will not insure a vessel under these conditions, so the fall-out is not over and done with.

Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia are dead afraid that Ukrainian grain will be dumped on them and destabilize their local markets and farmers.  They are requesting and appealing to the European Union to extend the ban on the import of Ukrainian grain until December 31. The ban ends September 15

Jul 20

With the dustup in South Africa regarding Putin’s attendance or not, Lavrov will attend to the cleanup today.

The Grain and Fertilizer deal has lit a match which is lighting a fire.  From the Russian MoD:   https://t.me/mod_russia_en/8484

In connection with the cessation of the functioning of the Black Sea Grain Initiative and the сlosing of the maritime humanitarian corridor, from 00.00 Moscow time on 20 July 2023, all vessels sailing in the waters of the Black Sea to Ukrainian ports will be regarded as potential carriers of military cargo.

▫️ Accordingly, the countries of such vessels will be considered to be involved in the Ukrainian conflict on the side of the Kiev regime.

▫️ In addition, a number of sea areas in the north-western and south-eastern parts of the international waters of the Black Sea have been declared temporarily dangerous for navigation. Corresponding information warnings on the withdrawal of safety guarantees to mariners have been issued in accordance with the established procedure.

Jul 19

On a much lighter note – From Chinese history.

Jul 19

The Russian Strikes last night were major.  I think Ukrainian Grain vessels will not depart from Odessa anytime soon.  (Perhaps everyone should buy an additional container or two of sunflower oil if you use it).  Photos of the damaged grain terminals are now being posted in various locations.   https://t.me/intelslava/50031

In addition, Russia reports an advance.

Russian Defence Ministry report on the progress of the special military operation

(19 July 2023)

Part I (Part II (https://t.me/mod_russia_en/8480))

▫️The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation carried out a group strike with sea- and air-based precision weapons against military industry facilities, fuel infrastructure and ammunition depots of the AFU close to Odessa and also against enemy Kanatovo airbase of the Ukrainian Air Force in Kirovograd region. All the assigned targets have been neutralised. The goal of the attack has been reached.

▫️Over the course of the day, Russian troops advanced more than a kilometre in depth and up to two kilometres along the front. The advancing units seized Molchanovo railway station (Kharkov region).

The Black Sea – does not look like Ukraine will be shipping any grain or fertilizer either.  That would be a few billion less on their income statement.

• safe navigation guarantees are revoked,
• there is no more maritime humanitarian corridor,
• resuming the status of a temporarily dangerous area in the northwestern Black Sea,
• the JCC (Joint Coordinating Center) in Istanbul is disbanded.

Russia will be ready to consider its restoration only when it receives concrete results, rather than promises & assurances from Western capitals.  First Deputy Permanent Representative Dmitry Polyanskiy at UNSC briefing on Ukraine

At this moment, no vessel is currently moving out of or towards Ukraine as part of the Grain Initiative – Office of the UN Coordinator.

From Dmitry Peskov and this was to be expected:

Grain supplies from Russia to Africa will be discussed at the summit in St. Petersburg at the end of July

President Putin is not yet planning contacts with Türkiye’s Erdogan (and this while Erdogan initially announced his visit to Russia.  He has changed his tune and is now saying he tried his best and we all believe him, not?)

Jul 18

Big Destruction:  Russian Defence Ministry report on the progress of the special military operation

(18 July 2023)

▫️Tonight the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation carried out a group strike with precision sea-based weapons against facilities where terrorist acts against Russian troops were prepared using unmanned boats, as well as the place where it was manufactured at a ship repair plant near Odessa.

▫️ In addition, fuel storage facilities with a total of about 70,000 tonnes were destroyed close to Nikolayev and Odessa, from which fuel was supplied to AFU military hardware.

▫️ All the targets planned for the strike were hit. Fires and detonation at the destroyed facilities were recorded.

The SMO is continuing:

▫️The AFU continued to attempt offensive actions in Donetsk, Krasny Liman and South Donetsk directions.

Nury is a journalist from Hong Kong and a very kind person.

O, America:
You have needlessly alienated almost one fifth of humanity, the Chinese, in exchange for the loyalty of a tiny, rapidly crumbling political party in Taiwan.
You have needlessly created enmity with the world’s largest country, Russia, in exchange for the loyalty of a tiny elite in Ukraine that your own analysts described as breathtakingly corrupt.
You have needlessly attacked the building of the biggest international trade cooperative in human history, the Belt and Road iInitiative, in exchange for the loyalty of a tiny number of xenophobic domestic politicians.
Stop working towards war and start working towards peace.

With the grain deal on the skids and the attack on the Crimean Bridge, the information space is cluttered.

I’ll wait for formal information and Mr.Putin is expected to make an address in a few hours.  Re the grain deal, reports are coming in that Russia is literally shutting Black Sea transportation down and I see comments such as:  Only depriving Ukraine of access to the Black Sea will secure the Crimean bridge.”

Let’s wait for the clutter to subside.  One thing is real – Russians have come to anger and are demanding retaliation.  The question is how will Russia handle this provocation, given that Russians feel this very deeply.

USAID’s Samantha Power Arrived in Kiev today.  I wonder if Nuland supplied her with the requisite bag of cookies?

Jul 17

There has been a new attack on the Crimean Bridge.  Read Nat South’s first commentary here.  Nat has been considering and writing about the fragility of the bridge to drone attacks specifically now at the height of the tourist season.  So far there are 3 victims, a married couple died and their daughter is in critical condition.  The road portion of the bridge is damaged but the railway is apparently not.

The bridge was damaged in October 2022 with a truck bombing.  Russia stated that it was orchestrated by Ukrainian intelligence services and it was at that time that missile strikes on Ukrainian energy and military infrastructure intensified.

Alexander Dugin stated:

About a new attack on the Crimean bridge. Notice the rabid stubbornness of the enemy. This is a distinguishing feature of the Malorossians. But now it looks ominous. They started shelling Donetsk in 2014 and do not stop for a day. They attacked the territory of the old Russian regions – Belgorod, Kursk, Bryansk – and continue to. They began to kill Russians with terrorist attacks, and they do it again and again. They attacked nuclear facilities, and they do it again and again. The same with the Crimean bridge, as long as Ukraine exists with its gone mad population and manic regime, it is simply foolish and irresponsible to think that anything in its behaviour will change. In my opinion, it is necessary to curtail the simulation of peaceful life in Russia, postpone the elections (we have already elected Putin, but we certainly don’t have anyone else) and move on to full-fledged mobilization. Personnel changes are inevitable, delaying them becomes a suicidal process. We are dealing with a completely insane, extremely aggressive, deranged enemy. And behind him is the West. Rabies has no cure.

Dmitry Medvedev called for the elimination of the top leadership of Ukraine and their relatives:

Terrorists cannot be fought with international sanctions, intimidation or exhortations.
They only understand the language of power.
Only personal and completely inhumane methods.

It is necessary to blow up their own houses and the houses of their relatives. Look for and eliminate their accomplices, abandoning the insipid idea of a trial against them. But the main thing is to destroy the top leadership of terrorist groups , no matter in what cracks these insects hide.
It’s difficult, but possible.

By Larry Johnson, talking about … reservations are being made for seats on the helicopters that will be landing on the roof of the U.S. Embassy in Kiev when evacuation day comes.   https://sonar21.com/cia-leaking-like-a-sieve-as-it-blames-ukraine-for-impending-debacle/

He also talks about what is happening in Poland:  “Poland officially became the center of NATO’s response, first in handling hundreds of thousands of refugees fleeing the battle, and then as the logistical hub for arms flowing back into Ukraine. The country also became the center of the overt military response. A forward headquarters for the Army V Corps (5th Corps) has been established in Poland. Additional supplies and ammunition for U.S. use are stored in Poland. A permanent Army garrison has been activated, the first ever to be located on NATO’s eastern flank, and today there are now about 10,000 American troops in Poland.”

The CELAC-EU summit has started.  First, we had copious EU habits of treating the CELAC countries like colonial vassals and the big thing now, is how to refer to the SMO.  Conflict, or Brutal Invasion by Russia or what to call it.  CELAC is standing on their feet though and refused attendance by Zelensky.  https://peoplesdispatch.org/2023/07/13/cuba-and-venezuela-condemn-eus-unilateralism-ahead-of-celac-eu-summit/
