Mecca defense pact works as mutual-defense framework

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the Mecca agreement between Turkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan creates a mutual-defense mechanism similar in principle to NATO’s Article 5.

💬 “Whichever country is targeted, if an attack occurs against any one of these three countries, then, since there is a mutual-defense pact, the three countries will be able to defend one another against any kind of attack,” he stressed.

Erdogan added that the agreement is not closed to other states, saying Egypt could also join.

He described Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkiye as countries that have “always been among the guardians of peace.”

The Mecca Joint Defense Agreement was signed in Mecca on August 7 by Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Pakistan. Under the pact, an attack on one member is treated as an attack on all three.

In Greece, the local law enforcement caught an Israeli tourist starting wildfires. You may remember that in Argentina, they started the wildfires in order to buy the land very cheaply.

These events are not outliers. They are becoming the norm from a people who feel themselves beyond normal limits of humanity, because ‘once there was a holocaust’.

The next phase of the War against Iran but bear in mind continuance in a kinetic form cannot be ruled out.

Treasury Secretary Bessent says the US will unveil new sanctions on Iran next week, “unlike anything ever applied to a country’s economic isolation in history.”

Speaking to Newsmax, Bessent said the US is going to apply measures that have “never been seen” on Iran, adding “watch this space for more announcements coming next week.”

He described it as a combination of economic isolation “like the world has never seen before” alongside the continued blockade of the Strait of Hormuz aimed at stopping anything from entering or leaving Iranian ports.

The US has again recognized Japan’s claims to Russia’s southern Kuril Islands, with Washington’s ambassador to Tokyo commenting following Putin’s visit to Iturup, the largest island in the chain.

Ambassador George Glass said on X that the US “remains unwavering” in recognizing so-called Japanese sovereignty over the islands Tokyo calls the “Northern Territories,” and accused Russia of undermining “peace and stability” in the Indo-Pacific.

The Russian Embassy in Tokyo has made clear that Putin’s visits to the Kuril Islands are a sovereign internal matter, not up for discussion with foreign states. The islands became part of Russia following WWII, a result enshrined in international law that Moscow has repeatedly stated is not open to question, no matter how many times Washington and Tokyo try to relitigate it.

For the next few days our theme is how the US is now falling visibly, economically and militarily against the world. There are four very important posts on Sovereignista.com currently, and my recommendation is that these are well understood, because this is what we will be watching for the next while.

The first is Michael Hudson and he explains in a nutshell that the US is trying to shift the cost of their operations (whichever type) to so-called allies.

Already in President Trump’s first administration he had spoken of shifting the cost of U.S. military spending onto local countries hosting U.S. bases. So it is not surprising that he soon pressed for the United States to administer trade through the Strait of Hormuz to enable it to charge tolls to reimburse itself for the military costs of U.S. protection against Iran, denying Iran any power to impose tolls or indeed to receive any return of its savings from countries that wanted to keep these funds as reparations for themselves.

The aggressive U.S. actions against Russia, China and Iran for asserting their own sovereignty has driven these countries together and accelerated their common efforts to create an alternative basis for their trade and monetary relations. Their efforts are catalyzing a global fracture that has been long in the making, but which only today has the critical mass that countries have needed to achieve independence from U.S. control.

The second is an interview, Danny Haiphong and Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, (recommended by Mr P) where Col. Wilkerson in no uncertain terms expresses where the US is in terms of both the wars, Ukraine and West Asia – nowhere is a good word.  There is one sentence easy to miss.  Col. Wilkerson mentions that he will not be surprised if all of this is for Israel.  I have been thinking exactly this for the past few months.  This then explains to us what the situation is in Venezuela and how this is still being used as a supposed recipe for the actions against Iran.

The third is the discussion from The Cradle, titled Trump Wants OUT of this War and Iran smells blood.  Pay attention to the new appointments of the Iranian military and civil leadership.   Col. Wilkerson also made some comments on the massive experience of these new appointments.  There still is a reformist voice, but it has to be there.  Some balance is also needed.

The fourth is the initial. comments by Mr.Putin on NATO Infiltration into Pacific Region and Admiral Admiral Viktor Liin’s report.  Once this is posted formally on The Kremlin’s website, we will post it, as this signals where Russia will place their attention as the war on Ukraine will come to an end or change materially, and become a clear war on NATO.  (I think of U.S. Under Secretary of War Colby in Manila: “We are NOT leaving Asia. We are DIGGING IN”).

Finally, China is taking care of Japan, Eurasia and mostly they are setting the tone for peace.  The jury is out. But they are not sitting back. China has signaled it will retaliate if the US imposes secondary tariffs over purchases of Russian oil. Liu Chang, spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Washington, said passage of the US “hell sanctions” bill would backfire on Washington itself. “The use of double standards, as well as coercive and pressure tactics, will ultimately backfire on those who employ them,” Liu Chang stated.

Iran to join BRICS New Development Bank

Last night, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation delivered a group strike by ground-launched high-precision weapons which hit enterprises of the defence industry, transport and logistics centres in Kiev and Zaporozhye.

🔸 Kiev’s Nova Poshta terminal – a dual-use hub storing and distributing drone components and other sensitive cargo.

🔸 The Kiev-3 logistics center (San-Park complex) – a sprawling 50,000-square-meter warehouse packed with attack UAVs.

7.4 Quake in Colombia.  A powerful magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck western Colombia on Monday morning, with the epicenter near San José del Palmar in Chocó Department, at a depth of roughly 100 km, according to USGS and Colombia’s Geological Survey.

The quake was felt strongly across the country — in Bogotá, where residents evacuated buildings, as well as in Medellín and Cali — and reached as far as Panama, Ecuador, and Venezuela.

Heavy damage has been reported in Chocó’s capital Quibdó and in Manizales, Caldas, with injuries confirmed and authorities now monitoring for aftershocks. Bogotá’s mayor said some buildings sustained cracks but reported no severe damage in the capital so far.

Trump is reportedly prepared to drop the demand for a separate Iranian nuclear deal if Tehran fully reopens the Strait of Hormuz to shipping, the Wall Street Journal reports, citing US officials.

According to the outlet, the US president has spent recent weeks discussing with advisors the possibility of ending the conflict without a standalone nuclear agreement — Washington’s assessment is that after the destruction of three key nuclear facilities, Iran is unlikely to be able to rebuild the program during Trump’s presidency, and any renewed attempt would be detected by American intelligence.

Talks on reopening the strait have grown more complicated, however, after Iran introduced new demands — Tehran is seeking a definitive end to the war, the lifting of the US naval blockade, withdrawal of American forces from the region, sanctions relief, the unfreezing of Iranian assets, and billions of dollars in war reparations.

Trump has previously said American taxpayer money will not be paid out to Iran. Still, per WSJ, any agreement could include unfreezing a portion of Iranian assets and lifting the port blockade if Tehran fully reopens the strait.

Eurasia Group’s Gregory Brew said the Iranians are fully convinced Trump wants out of the war and is focused on reopening the strait — which is why they’re driving a hard bargain.
