U.S. Special Forces seize Chinese cargo tied to Iran missile program
Got pirates?
If it’s not yours, and you take it at gunpoint, it’s stealing…
On December 12, 2025, the Wall Street Journal announced that U.S. special forces boarded a ship in the Indian Ocean last month and seized military-related items assessed as moving from China to Iran. U.S. officials described the action as a maritime interdiction aimed at slowing Iran’s attempts to rebuild parts of its missile arsenal after a 12-day conflict in June 2025. The boarding took place several hundred miles off Sri Lanka, the cargo was removed, and the vessel was allowed to continue, while the ship’s name and ownership were not disclosed.

ParticipantRuski and Chinese tankers can be made into naval auxiliary ships. Not smart to shoot at. They can also be armed as naval auxiliary. I am wondering about mines. And torpedoes. Venezuela (for example) harbors may be mined. At sea submarine launched torpedoes can hit in the propeller area…ship hit that way may not sink. And mines/torpedoes muddy the identity of the aggressor. First, ahbetcha, the nazis try the helicopter gag with marines or seals or whatever the SS units are called…and the chopper goes down in flames. imho burning even one chopper full of commandos will change the nazi tactic. I note too, that in the CONUS many persons who may not be happy work in the refineries, and on the railroads, and so forth…an increase in the “industrial accident rate” ought to be expected. Ahbetcha it’d be smart to build minesweepers.

ParticipantRon Unz presents a lengthy and substantive essay which, in my view, is well worth reading. see…Donald Trump as Our President Caligula, by Ron Unz – The Unz Review https://www.unz.com/runz/donald-trump-as-our-president-caligula/
a fragment of a very mild example> Some observers have suggested that the Trump Administration has returned to the notorious “Big Stick” foreign policy that President Theodore Roosevelt employed in the early years of the twentieth century, including with regard to the militarily weak countries of Latin America and his expansive interpretation of the Monroe Doctrine. But I strongly dispute this. As far as I can tell, no major country in hundreds of years, perhaps even many hundreds of years has consistently behaved in so utterly lawless a fashion as the U.S. under President Trump.
Do read the essay, and the commentary.

Loureiro | MIT Plasma Science & Fusion Center https://www.psfc.mit.edu/about/people/leadership/nuno-f-g-loureiro/ ……….Ahemtink the killing warn’t ’bout a bad grade… 😉 He was the laboratory director. iirc recent development in fusion are dramatic and substantial…. They say that a hit is best done when more than one group benefits.
Nuno Loureiro is Professor of Nuclear Science and Engineering and Professor of Physics, and Director of MIT’s Plasma Science and Fusion Center. He is a theoretical physicist with interests spanning from magnetic confinement fusion to fundamental plasma physics and plasma astrophysics. Loureiro is the recipient of the 2015 Thomas Stix award for Outstanding Early Career Contributions to Plasma Physics of the American Physical Society, an NSF Career awardee, and was elected Fellow of the American Physical Society in 2022.
A native of Portugal, Loureiro majored in Physics at IST Lisbon. He obtained his PhD from Imperial College London in 2005, and then performed post-doctoral work at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (2005-07) and at the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy in the UK (2007-09), where he was an inaugural Fusion Research Fellow. Between 2009 and 2015 Loureiro was a researcher at the Institute for Plasmas and Nuclear Fusion at IST Lisbon, where he led the Theory and Modelling Group (2013-15).
Loureiro joined MIT in 2016 as an Assistant Professor, was tenured in 2017, and promoted to Full Professor in 2021. In addition to his research and administrative activities, Loureiro teaches core courses in the Plasma Physics and Fusion Graduate Program. He was the recipient of the 2017 and 2020 ANS Faculty PAI Outstanding Professor award, and the 2022 Ruth and Joel Spira Award for Excellence in Teaching.

ParticipantThere seems to be among many the implied notion that when zone 404 surrenders and the SMO seems to have been completed, that then some sort of stasis will descend upon European space. This idea seems to me naive. I have no idea what dynamic will follow, but I am sure it won’t be peace. It is interesting that the British have made it to the top, or near to the top, of the Russian list of enemy States…even troubling to publish a handy target map. Very generous!

ParticipantTanker war or tanker piracy? Trick question….
“Axios quoted one Trump adviser as saying, “We have to wait for them to move. They’re sitting at the dock. Once they move, we’ll go to court, get a warrant, and then get them,” adding, “But if they make us wait too long, we might get a warrant to get them there,” in Venezuelan waters.
And gunboat diplomacy it is. Diplomany by “other means”, which suggests if not war, then at least acts of war…with the promise of the real thing…

ParticipantDoktor Professor Richard Wolff speaks and gives a 1/2 hour “adaptation from a talk Professor Wolff gave at Yale University on December 2, 2025, to the Yale Political Union. In this presentation, he discusses the significance of the title “Marx was Right,” which Yale offered, and points out that, over the last 75 years, such a topic or event would not likely have occurred on that campus. He provides a basic summary of critical points throughout Marx’s work where he has been proven “right.” Professor Wolff also discusses how and why socialism has evolved, from the rise and fall of the USSR to the rise of the People’s Republic of China.” Economic Update: Marx Was Right

ParticipantOf course rule by imperial decree is not rule by law, but also of course the laws have become moot and “quaint”….but to strike anywhere must be understood to include Chicago and Los Angeles, or even a rural village in Kansas… They say Stumpy’s second cousin’s stepson sells the good stuff from his gas station in Feeble Falls Iowa… 😉 Let’s hope his insurance will cover a rocket strike…. he’s got a case, I think, since the dope is combustible there can be no evidence.

ParticipantMy friend, these days we may sometimes have the nuclear bombs on the mind, as, again, the usage seems quite likely, and if the affair in 404 is as unacceptable to the european nazis as it seems to be, maybe there. But I think you’ve misapprehend my meaning. The quote refers to Pearl Harbor, not the 1945 a-bomb tests on cities. Yes, William Franklin Knox, secretary of the Navy under Franklin D. Roosevelt during most of World War II. (I think you’re right about Harry!) The British attack at Taranto which was a torpedo attack, and despite canonical naval wisdom as to shallow harbors being un-suited to torpedo attack, worked, and preceded Pearl Harbor by about 11 months…the Japanese studied this attack and made modification to their torpedoes accordingly….with the result that the damage at Pearl was far more than Roosevelt had anticipated. This seems to be what Knox is saying, which itself may be rather more mild than what he actually knew. He’s perhaps hinting at the bare truth. Roosevelt imagined a more or less failed attack because he did not appreciate the technical improvement to shallow water torpedoes that had been achieved. Well, he was a busy guy, and it was apparently not studied by his navy…only by the Japanese navy! Of which a Japanese officer was at Taranto showing great interest!
