“How long will the good remain silent?” A cry in the European wilderness…brief. 5 minutes of voiceover…https://youtu.be/lVSCuG_Uxc8  ……..a book …. “The project “Finally Peace – 100 Personalities Show Civil Courage” brings together voices for peace in a book. The NachDenkSeiten website is publishing here the contribution of Marcus Klöckner, who questions why so many in the country remain silent. How long will the good people remain silent?”

In the darkness of a cold night it seems as though the passengers on the runaway train don’t quite understand… they cry for the brakeman that is not there…in the imaginary garden.

Fun film… Monsignor Quixote – starring Alec Guinness and Leo McKern (1985)

see minute 11:29 + a few seconds… McKern, the Communist mayor has lost the election…https://youtu.be/uO4XWTYrFQU?t=689  There’s a backstory and a story, but it’s just a fun scene…establishing that “Sancho” is going to be available for the quest… McKern utters: “Capitalist money turns the heads of honest men…”

It is in my view a film pregnant with worthwhile dialogue, which seems in a way relevant to the world to-day.

    full flick…

Yup! Those tankers invite the imagination, yewbetcha… In Odyssey Homer remarks that the sight of weapons incites men to use them…I would say the sight of fat targets incites men to attack. Soon enough, I expect, things will become “highly stimulating”. Poor devils… it’s quite beyond the point of retreat…and it looks like my bet on the new moon, 00:00 Z 16 Feb +/- 48 was well laid. On the bright side, the fatfeller mayn’t be dictatorinchief much longer…in the classical sense, a tragic figure…now become pitiful. Not that I am shedding any tears…I called him for a mark from the gitgo. And “Brutus” with his sly smile awaits his ambitious service to his master, Thiel….

Learned Comrade Officer Lt Col K wrote essay> “Will Trump’s legacy be saved if he starts World War II?”

    read at…https://www.lewrockwell.com/2026/02/karen-kwiatkowski/will-trumps-legacy-be-saved-if-he-starts-world-war-iii/

She links in her essay to another learned essay, this by Comrade Officer Maj Gen Laich … Could the US win a war with a near-peer adversary today? | Responsible Statecraft read at> https://responsiblestatecraft.org/us-military-ready-for-war/

    (quiz anytime!)

    ……….

I see at https://twitter.com/i/status/2023336239244755260 that some say the US has actually begun the war on Iran already, some presumably well informed suit, so to say… I must hurry down to the Dew Drop and collect my bet from old Stumpy… 😉

The question of aircraft carriers and “obsolescense” is, I think, poorly defined. In many examples these ships are modern, and they work…they can “project power”… “obsolete” is not the proper term. A sum might say in vulgar words, “they can dish it out, but they can’t take it”… see, here https://youtu.be/nNicc02AKRg USS Lexington — The First U.S. Fleet Carrier Lost in WWII –  Pay attention. Don’t take side. note that “the enemy” had the same experience. Then substitute for the old slow piloted airplanes, supersonic rockets. Now they especially “can’t take it”. But they can still “dish it out”. This makes them a very juicy target…and makes their primary “use” starting a major war by sinking and drowning a whole lotta corn fed fellers.

I wonder if “obsolete” is precisely correct. The ships are fairly new, and, within their class, modern. Against zones and people who do not fight, they can “project power”.  As WS says in conflict with “major power” ineffective…also in conflict with minor power. History may however show that they are very useful in starting a major war, as the “obsolete” ships at Pearl Harbor were. All they have to do is burn and sink… In the instance, if the Iranians destroy one, or two… 😉 with a major loss of life…then the “obsolete” carriers will have been, may have been, very effective indeed, in mousetrapping the dark imperial cadre into a war they cannot survive. An economic disaster that may sweep them away.

’roundabout minute 8 Nap asks question about Novorossia,  Capt. Matt Hoh and he agree the usage is new. They’re clueless. It’s been in usage in the context of the SMO since the beginning…since before Minsk “agreements”and as wiki says: “The name Novorossiya, which means “New Russia”, entered official usage in 1764″. One is left to wonder about these fellers. https://youtu.be/igkiWW51ZXc  I was under the impression that at university they require history and geography…

Ahem ‘memberin’ when, in the beginning of the SMO the AFU nazi army was surrounded and kettled en mass …and the liberation of Novorossia was spoken of far an’ wide….where were these wise men…at the bar? My friend Texas was then in active service, he was, iirc, ecstatic with the taste of victory…

Mearsheimer on Nap gives me the idea that he’s clueless and, putting things politely, naive and shallow…this is not a new impression, ahemm…

Chas Freeman is much more perceptive…https://youtu.be/QPTT_bi8cs8

In afternoon Comrade Colonel K…LtCOL. Karen Kwiatkowski : Will Trump Start WWIII ? may be worth listening to, ahdunno… I’d have asked another question…”Does he realise his gang has started… or is in already?….” In this respect refer to Pepe’s:  Pepe Escobar: Baviera Rhapsody: Insecurity Conference targets re-colonization of the Global South – Chronicles – Sovereign Global Majority, which includes this line: “The path towards 5th Generation War will accelerate. We are entering the next stage of an “omnipresent battlefield” – as defined way back in 1999 by PLA colonels Qiao Liang and Wang Xiangsui.”   I posted the url to the learned and august paper by the Comrade Officers of the PLA . This paper being 228 pages in English….

My own opinion is that the war is about 500 years long, so far…and that US as a major participant entered in an inflection with the US invasions of China and then of Russia…let’s round it to “long time ago” More than a human life-time…

see image at minute 9:43 in MS video. US and Dutch pilots in F-16 airplanes … ostensibly, of course, contracted veterans, ie civilians…. I note that civilians are prohibited from combat ad if captured are not entitled to POW status, but are considered to be criminals…. thus criminals are flying the F16s…or so it seems.

    Yup. Very cogent.

I see I might be misunderstood…to be clear my hunch is Lavrov’s anger is a product of sadness, disappointment….remembering as an example “ambassador DeSadeski’s line “the fools! the mad fools!  in the old film… Anyway, a professional product…a sort of projection. I do not imagine he’s mad at anybody in particular. His emotion does suggest that the war, the “unrestricted war” as Comrade Officers Qiao Liang and Wang Xiangsui sketched it…will continue to resolution, with all that implies. I would be angry, instead I’m just sad.

I too am ashamed a little…when the Russian warehouses were looted I bought a few pieces of loot. Among these a clock from a submarine.

Helmer is a mystery, and his essay seems to be an outlier. But Lavrov’s poorly concealed anger is understandable in a diplomat… My “take” being that he’s angry about war… diplomacy in the peaceful realm is now shown to be ineffective or inadequate,  and diplomacy by “kinetic means” is now the certainty. In a man dedicated to the peaceful resolution of conflict, why naturally he’s angry.

    ……

Speaking of the kinetic avenues of “diplomacy”…. poor devils…
