All political lives eventually end. It took many years and many cruel “players” to create in Syria a failed and hopelessly corrupt condition. Assad may have been remiss, but he did his best. When it’s over, it’s over. Of course a dramatic stand on the palace steps and waiting to be buggered with a knife might have made “better theater”.  I think his decision to give up and leave was correct within the constraints of a failed system of “sanctions” and poverty and bribery.

Just a speculation. Will Iran now go ahead in view of the collapse in Syria and the consequences thereof – go ahead and assemble nuclear munitions. Naturally a test of one would sober the imperial nazi forces.
