Participantblessings, AHH! my beloved angel saw them all! he grew up in quebec & would bus it to chicago & new york every chance. he saw billie when she was young, all the way thru: duke, louis, ella, sarah, big bands duelling. his favourite memory…in the sylvia hotel in vancouver (it has tiny elevators they hold 2 sometimes 3) with the duke! he considered duke america’s beethoven. he was speechless (which NEVER happened) & finally sputtered out, “i love you, man!” & duke looked @ him—one of the happiest moments of his life! whenever he needed a little boost, & there were times, he’d close his eyes & remember that moment.

when i was last in the palisades i saw these “persians” being taught military tactics. i asked the parents WTF? & was told, they were hoping when dumpster got elected to go into iran & help return the shah. i rolled my eyes, & thought—are you kidding? dumpster is not going to keep his word & help you bring back the shah!
last night on the LA news they arrested a nut case for starting the fire. he looked middle eastern & he was screaming like a nutter might & the police were not listening, the announcer was saying the guy had outstanding charges & everyone agreed that wasn’t a surprise. end of story.
well i’ve just remembered the young boys being trained to return the shah. & it occurred to me—O dear God. they are going to iranians. these poor kids & their parents have been used & abused.
o/c this could be a co-incidence. & my imagination has completely misfired.

the fires in LA have to be touching a trillion, but the entire world has suffered beyond reckoning: hurricanes & typhoons, fires floods, droughts & crop failures, maritime shipping must be a freakin nightmare, never mind boeing, all in all the claims must be overflowing their barricades & safety nets. put upon actuaries have to be bald from pulling out hair, lucky for them tel aviv’s not covered, or ukraine, good thing blackrock didn’t bother being in house & all.
it’s possible the insurance gambit will shut down. i expect a spokesperson looking a bit like blinken when he’s being interviewed will explain to the world that the idea of insurance was a really bad idea in the first place & that the whole scam was a crazy communist idea to destroy democracy—& that insurance is not in any way related to capitalism. in a patronizing imperial voice, he’ll tell us that it’s time people learn to take care of themselves. the fact is that there are no safety nets, not in democracy & that for the sake of democracy & freedom the government has done what’s right & shut down the entire scam, prosecutions are about to be made.

not entirely a surprise. unfortunately it’s an irony that will elude most of the stricken. my step-kids have lost their homes but they’ve escaped safe & unharmed.
