pure speculation:  china has gamed this war, tabled it as inevitable.    it’s probable that xi, when first toying with the notion of restoring the silk road foresaw this confrontation &  its existential implications if iran succumbed.  i suspect primakov had viewed this map as well.  i’ve long viewed the meeting between xi & putin prior to the smo was essentially a shared agreement to “Let the Games Begin”.

the uae has been a concern from its invitation to vladivostok, never mind the royal reception putin received when he returned the visit.   i suspect its location was noted by china, iran & russia, along with how to proceed to set & play the board.  china’s wheel house is finance, russia’s is her military & penchant for toying with physics.  the uae, like pakistan, evokes a feeling of walking on ice in spring, one just never knows, it’s dicey, a hope for the best gamble.   india is a similiar risky investment.

you are right, nima appears exhausted.   i feel he’s got the sense of it, iran’s ‘inaction’ is a feint.  iran is the master of staged decoys & entrapments.  between china’s djibouti & both russian & chinese satellites, iran expected something very like what just happened, & set the stage.  it’s hard for empire to grasp a strategy played out without succumbing, forfeiting control & going nuclear.    they are hyenas, the scent of blood impels them to  go in for the kill, blindly unaware there is no escape, the last exit has closed & it’s now death by a thousand cuts.
