Mexico considers the decision of the US to introduce 30% tariffs from August 1 to be unfair and are already holding talks with the administration of US President Donald Trump, a joint statement by Mexico’s foreign and economy ministries says. Mexico never stopped negotiating, stayed the course, remained respectful, made changes required but this does not help during a shake-down.

Mr Lavrov’s presser at ASEAN should not be missed. It is the first time that I see this level of clarity on NATO’s actions in the region:

Sergey Lavrov: “I have just elaborated on our assessment of NATOโ€™s actions here: its efforts to penetrate the region, establish infrastructure, and secure a foothold. I have no doubt ASEAN states comprehend these manoeuvres and recognise the choice being presentedโ€ฏโ€“ to formally remain within ASEAN while simultaneously joining non-inclusive, bloc-based structures aimed, in essence, at forging a political-diplomatic front to contain China (this is undisguised) and, by extension, the Russian Federation.”

Venezuela demands the release of children detained in the U.S. (if they deport, they sometimes forget the children), and rejects crimes against humanity in Gaza.ย  ย The EU again put Venezuela on a list of jurisdictions deemed to pose a high risk of money laundering and terrorist financing, and they are considering cutting commercial ties with EU businesses trading in Venezuela.ย  (Get Venezuela in BRICS!)

Brazil will redirect its exports from the US to other countries, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said following the US announcement that it will slap 50% tariffs on Brazilian goods starting from August 1.

“Brazil’s trade with the US makes up just 1.7% of our GDP. You can’t call these figures vital,” he said in an interview with TV Record. โ€œWe will look for other partners“.

This complete post with Lula Da Silva’s response is now here:ย  https://sovereignista.com/2025/07/09/tariffs-brazil/

Tariffs have to do with trade and with the balance of trade, yes? Demented Donnie has turned his Tariff Letters (of which a bunch went out this morning again), into a capricious punitive stick. 50% for Brazil, and there is more in ‘sectoral’ tariffs. During the last few days, Trump has been hollering on his Truth Social that Brazil is treating Bolsonaro very badly. Bolsonaro, with another 34 people or so, is in court, charged with the coup plot to overturn the results of the 2022 election and keep his opponent from taking power.

This constitutes gross interference in the affairs of other nations and most likely breaches a raft of international law.

I know China is Brazil’s biggest trading partner. Here is a sizable list of products that Brazil trades with the US. https://tradingeconomics.com/brazil/exports/united-states

One hopes that Brazil could have the courage of its convictions and stop trading with the US. This is the only action that will stop the tariffs, which the US buyers anyway pay for. Yet, with such a cost burden, the cost of items becomes too high for any market to bear. Regarding the accusations on US media, you may remember that Elon Musk became very upset that Brazil expected foreign tech companies to obey Brazilian Law. Brian Mier has an article on Brazil’s law that owners of Tech companies are responsible for crimes committed on their platforms, as free speech is not absolute in many other countries. https://bmier.substack.com/p/brazils-victory-for-digital-sovereignty

It is now time to see if BRICS can support one another. There is the list folks – whatcha gonna buy .. whatcha need today? Time is short.

Netanyahoooo’s press conference. The lying toad! As if it is Hamas that keeps the Gazans prisoners in Gaza. Please try and pick this up: https://t.me/rtnews/102324

NETANYAHU: weโ€™re not pushing out ANYONE

Bibi speaks over journalists, says thereโ€™ll be ‘NO forcible dislocation’

Subtext, they will be dislocated by ‘choice’ is the plan. The count for the last 12 hours only is in and 120 people were killed by the Israeli’s in Gaza. This is for the past 12 hours only.

๐Ÿ”น๐Ÿ”น๐Ÿ”น๐Ÿ”น

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced that the Trump administration has imposed sanctions on UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese. This move comes in response to her efforts urging the International Criminal Court (ICC) to pursue legal action against Israeli and US officials over war crimes they have committed on the Palestinians in Gaza.

๐Ÿ”น๐Ÿ”น๐Ÿ”น๐Ÿ”น

There is much signalling going on in the Media that Trump will attack Iran again. So far, it is media signalling and not reality. But we are waiting for anything on a ceasefire on Gaza. What seems to be happening is that the ideas of putting all the Gazan’s in a type of concentration camp is leading the media. We don’t know that. It is so far a quiet news day, so media makes it up as they go along.

This was a major strike. One could reason that this is the Russian MoD’s response to Demented Donnie’s resumption of weapons supply to Ukraine.ย  If anyone still thought this was not his war, it is now Trump’s war.

๐Ÿ’ฅ At night, the Russian Armed Forces launched a group strike by long-range high-precision air-based weapons including Kinzhal hypersonic air-launched ballistic missiles and long-range drones against the infrastructure of military airfields.

โœ…The goal of the strike was achieved. All the assigned targets were engaged.

Tucker Carlson’s interview with Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian is out. There is much controversy, but I do think it is worthwhile watching. Unfortunately, one has to ‘become a member’ of the Carlson network. Geopolitics Prime is screening this in the usual short Telegram clips.ย  The first clip starts here:

https://t.me/geopolitics_prime/53218

Middle East Spectator took down the transcript again in the usual small Telegram clips.ย  It starts here:

https://t.me/Middle_East_Spectator/21482

Criticism from Iran is in this vein: “Pezeshkian is so naive, he doesn’t understand the inherently evil nature of the U.S. even after all that happened. He talks as if the U.S. somehow has the option or has an actual choice of disconnecting from Israel and being peaceful After all this, and he still doesn’t see that America is nothing but treacherous, evil, and constantly plotting against Iran.”ย  Others are more pragmatic, saying this interview is only for the ‘average Anerican cowboy’.

In the US, Carlson is smeared with the usual words, anti-American, not America First and you can complete the list.

[BRICS Needs an Informational Platform!ย  Actually two – one for videos and one for mini-blogging.]

Here is this interview on YouTube, much easier.ย  I took no position on the matter, but now I think it was fine.ย  Take a look at the comments:

This is the day that Trump has his meetings with Netanyahu, and Carlson is, of course, grabbing some thunder.

๐Ÿ”น๐Ÿ”น๐Ÿ”น๐Ÿ”น

Remember Kaya Kallas and Wang Yi?ย  A storm in a teacup or no more ‘Chinese tea’ for Europe?

China immediately placed anti-dumping duties ranging from 27.3% to 34.9% on European cognac and brandy imports for a period of five years, effective immediately.ย  The expectation was that this was only China’s opening salvo.ย  China has imposed reciprocal sanctions on the EU regarding purchases of major medical equipment.ย  In addition, made a stipulation that any EU orders cannot exceed 50% in aggregate value compared to the rest of the world, and EU orders may not exceed 45 million yuan ($6.3 million).ย  ย That is one significant statement.ย  It states that we don’t trust you in trade, so we have to place a budget on you. The RoW is there for us to trade with, and you will not be advantaged.

This is still part of the opening salvo.ย  China’s language and actions are changing.

From China, a very direct statement in a Global Times editorial:

The multiple rounds of “engagement” between China and the US over the past few months can be seen as a sample from which Washington should draw at least three lessons.

– First, China is not a “soft target” that the US can manipulate at will; Washington needs to abandon the notion of dealing with China through “maximum pressure.”

– Second, cooperation between China and the US brings mutual benefit, while confrontation harms both sides, and the “winner takes all” scenario that some in the US fantasize about will not become reality.

– Third, artificially “building walls” and “decoupling” will not make America safer and more prosperous, as the laws of objective reality do not bend simply because it is the US – they will punish anyone who disregards them, equally.

These lessons should also serve as an inspiration for other countries engaged in trade negotiations with the US.

After Hamas submitted a positive response to the ceasefire proposal presented by mediators, Netanyahu’s office issued a statement that Hamas’ amendments are “unacceptable” to the zionist entity.

An “israeli” negotiating delegation is nonetheless heading to Doha to participate in talks on Sunday.

So Elon Musk is starting the American Party.ย  He says:ย  “When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy.”

With the discussions on a ceasefire into Gaza, the IDF and the crazies are intensifying their killing spree. We have seen this before, and one cannot help but to suspect that it may be deliberate. Talk ceasefire, kill more.

Jul 4

Hamas has completed its internal consultations with Palestinian factions and forces regarding the mediators’ latest proposal to halt the aggression against our people in Gaza. The movement has submitted a positive response to the mediators, and is fully prepared to immediately enter into a round of negotiations on the mechanism for implementing this framework.

The small island of Cyprus is complaining bitterly about Israelis moving in large numbers, and now beginning to cause real concern. https://www.presstv.ir/Detail/2025/07/04/750572/Cyprus-Israelis-purchase-real-estate

๐Ÿ”น๐Ÿ”น๐Ÿ”น๐Ÿ”น

It is Friday, and Yemen is out in their regular million-man march. There is not much media but they continue to fire missiles into Israel.

There is an update in the War and Genocide thread on the current status of the new socalled ceasefire for Gaza that may be fruitful. There is a slim opportunity but fetid perfidy reeks in the dark corners of the dark discussion rooms.

๐Ÿ”น๐Ÿ”น๐Ÿ”น๐Ÿ”น

Key statements of Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov:

๐Ÿ”นRussian President Vladimir Putin has informed US leader Donald Trump that Russia expects to agree on the dates of the third round of negotiations with Ukraine;

๐Ÿ”นPutin reiterated during the talks with Trump that Russia is interested in achieving the goals of the military operation, preferably by political and diplomatic means;

๐Ÿ”นMoscow is attentive to all the statements by Trump, including on the lack of the progress in Ukraine;

[This depends on which actor wants progress and of what kind. Russia is well on its way and Trump’s initial 24 hours to stop the war has become a joke.]

๐Ÿ”นThe Putin-Trump meeting is necessary, but it must be well prepared;

[In other words, where are the agreements, documents and the substantive issues?. As far as I know none of the ‘irritants’ in the relationship have been fully solved. There may be more that we have not seen, but I can think of the seizure of Russia’s diplomatic property and they want the property back, as well as a regular and reliable flight schedule. It was announced that the issues around visas and payment for other Russian diplomatic tasks in the US, may be in a better state now as some banking relationships have been restored. Remember with the 2024 major annual UN conference the US played games with the visas of Russian delegates and a substantial part of the Russian delegation could not attend.

The other issue is that the US first announced that they are not sending more weapons to Kiev, and then, as is usual double-talked the issue yesterday and said that they will be sending more, just different. The pretext given was that the U.S. would halt some shipments of weapons to Ukraine amid concerns that its own stockpiles have declined too much. The US is therefore still a player in the Ukraine conflict. Larry Johnson did the sums on the available weaponry.]

๐Ÿ”นWhile the settlement in Ukraine by political and diplomatic methods is not possible, Russia continues the special military operation;

[And they do, with bells on! Last evening, the photos coming in from Kiev were on fire, as well as footage of overcrowded shelters. The strike is described as unprecedented. This is what the MoD says:

๐Ÿ’ฅ Last night, in response to the terrorist actions of the Kiev regime, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation delivered a massive strike by long-range high-precision ground-based weapons, the Kinzhal hypersonic air-launched ballistic missile system, long-range strike drones at industrial enterprises developing and manufacturing UAVs, FPV drones and other robotic mobile systems, various equipment for military use in Kiev,the infrastructure of the military airfield as well as the oil refinery.

โœ…The goal of the strike was achieved. All the assigned targets were engaged.

A hellish night for Kiev.

๐Ÿ’ฅ In addition, from 28 June to 3 July, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation carried out five group strikes, which hit facilities of the Ukrainian defence industry and refineries, the AFU command and control system, radar stations, ammunition and materiel depots, manufacturing shops, facilities for the storage and launch of strike unmanned aerial vehicles, UAV command posts, storage areas of uncrewed surface vehicles as well as temporary deployment areas of Ukrainian armed formations, nationalists, and foreign mercenaries.

โœ…The goal of the strike was achieved. All the assigned targets were engaged.]

๐Ÿ”นPutin will take part in the plenary session of the BRICS summit in Brazil on July 6 via videoconference;

[Good News! I have not heard whether Xi Jinping will attend via video conference. The Chinese media is, in a sense, attending and they are publishing copious articles.]

๐Ÿ”นPutin does not currently have plans to contact the leadership of Afghanistan; Russia’s contacts with Afghanistan will be established at various levels.

[I am glad that Russia took the initiative and recognized the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. Russia observed Afghanistan (the Taleban) for almost 5 years before they took this step. First, the Taliban was delisted as a terrorist organization, and now there is recognition. Other countries will soon follow, and perhaps Afghanistan will develop into something that resembles normality. We may not like it, but I cannot think of an alternative methodology, specifically knowing that Russia has a sizable Islamic population. There is a basis and knowledge. Take a quick look at China’s commentary via Mao Ning from the Foreign Ministry: https://www.globaltimes.cn/page/202507/1337632.shtml]

BRICS has been frustrating but all of a sudden, a deluge of information has started. Perhaps someone woke up. India is trying to whitewash itself making big announcements on being the Chair of BRICS for the next year. I don’t know when that year will start, given that Brazil arranged this Summit for mid-year. Mr Lavrov has a scary week ahead.

โ€ข July 6-7 in Rio de Janeiro: The 17th #BRICS Summit

โ€ข July 10-11 in Kuala Lumpur: #ASEAN Foreign Ministersโ€™ meetings in #RussiaASEAN #EAS and #ARF formats

โ€ข July 14-15 in Tianjin: The #SCO Foreign Ministersโ€™ Council

China netizens are still very critical about India and it is right across their social media.

However, most inside Iran appear to share mindset of MP Dr. Sabeti. They are still angry and do not heed Sun Tzu.

Thanks Grieved! Got it – works great.

I got used to downloading/listening on mp3 since Yemen days of low internet bandwidth/coverage. And listening strictly via audio enhances focus and learning. However this is time saver for those with unlimited internet and good speed

It’s digital narrative creation Col. Using the forked-tongued whispering seduction of Iago. So many slick professionally-done products whose sole aim is to sow distrust and get two parties to break alliance.. The eternal “divide et impera.”

Thanks, Nico, Amarynth, and AHH. There is a torrent of them centred around Traore and Bakino Faso and linked to JudgeNap’s interview site – I assume that we can take this as an attempt to smear China, as just another predatory coloniser. I wonder if there are some reliable sources… Read more »
