Whatever the cause, the US always seems to position themselves to take advantage of circumstances.  There’s been solar activity lately, and a great deal of geological activity the past few months, volcanoes and earthquakes.  And so I have to suspect they were priming the pump somehow.  I looked at faults, since every other earthquake or volcano was directly on the ring of fire, and there is a slip fault running through Venezuela.  Plausible deniability confirmed.
