Indeed, it seems that the nazis use “diplomatic episodes” as sweet lures to enable enhanced violence…as an instrument of war. In respect to refineries, one may take note that two can play….and accidents happen.
ParticipantBefore the internet people bought an almanac every year or 2, if they had an interest in knowing things. Of course they also read magazines and papers. But the almanac was a fairly staple paperback book…and I remember reading it, looking up odds and ends. Since marriage was considered a tri-party contract, the state being the third party (iirc, and there may have been other legal theories), each State of the US set their own age of consent and own age for marriage. Some of the southern states set the girl’s age, iirc, at 12. And of course we have the cliche of the “shot-gun marriage” – which was sometimes quite real. Of course the general assumption was that intercourse was consensual and would lead to a commitment…said commitment being enforced as necessary. Long time ago I worked along with a fellow who was especially enthusiastic about girls about 16, under age girls but not really children and if not virgins, pretty close to it. And I remember too a frend of a friend who was somewhat similar…both these guys were in their 30’s or maybe early 40’s…and we all thought they were creepy….they talked about it alot. I would not condone, but I can understand boys and girls of 16 having a go at intercourse, but when the guy is an adult it’s, imho, rape. The reason I bring this up is that I was surprised when the age of consent became standardized, in the US, at 18. And I suspect that this coordination has something to do with the pedophilia of the powerful, and with blackmail… I suspect agency. After all, once 18 is accepted as a standard…then blackmail is lots easier.
