Participant@ Anoxia the open cycle evap “swamp cooler” works pretty well, and it’s cheaper to run…the salts? Run overflow…to garden or pond.
………………….
In the old story from Pravda about VVP saying that the missiles back in Cuba… complex “Oak” was written of…as if that was the technical name of a missile system…but it isn’t. Not quite. This was a mystery.
https://t.me/rostecru/5957 see “Oak”
Evidently Comrade was having in mind something to do with smoothie’s favorite flyer the TU160. If so, then yes, of course, the missiles are back…I do recall that at about that time they did fly one in to the Caribbean “unsinkable aircraft carrier”. Note that one such flying machine….

ParticipantThere sure are fine and interesting stories and ideas…and great images too! Brings smile, even against such Times.
The NY Times is sometimes a source of telegraph messages. https://archive.ph/f77tp
“Decades behind its initial schedule, the dangerous job of eliminating the world’s only remaining declared stockpile of lethal chemical munitions will be completed as soon as Friday.” Right….
Article is lengthy and rambling political rhetoric…but what does it really serve? Why put all the pretty lies and pictures in the eye of Joe Rube? Right.
“…Pentagon officials caution that chemical weapons have not been eradicated entirely. A few nations never signed the treaty, and some that did, notably Russia, appear to have retained undeclared stocks….” and of course claims Syria did it… follow check boxes in memo…
What would Isidor Stone say? No, don’t tell me…
Noting that there was mustard at Bari in W2 and a lottafellas died from exposure…and that they used even more diabolical weapons on Japan and Korea and China…and that when yerlosin’ well, then folks do some terrible stuff.
……………………
Recalling Laurel Canyon sort of things, and a “school”..which was, I think, actually lateral to MI6…somewhere in the 1960’s and out west. Things click after a lifetime…some fellas made a big ‘speriment. Interesting people though. They produced some really nutty people. Maybe that’s the function of schools, ahdunno. I split.

Corn’s >2m already.

Evap AC along the lines of modern chillers and also along the lines of ancient ones, tend to accumulate salts. Birds tends to inoculate the pools with parasites and bacteria. In modern pumped systems there are feedback controls, chemical additives, and so on…how these tasks are done in the old ways is sometime I hope to learn.
I note that dissolved salts can form a waterproof cement lining… ! If you get things just right… Well, we know it’s doable already, that makes it easy.

ParticipantUsage> “Banana republic”… about the time that Bushie v Goreya was decided illegally by the Court, Andy Rooney did his routine on CBS “60 minutes” as a telephone skit… chatting with an imaginary foreigner. Brother Andy> “Yes, it is a lot like a banana republic…” and so forth. Anyway, since the label has been applied by august CBS, who am I to avoid it? This skit, tellingly, soon went poof. I applaud the re-election of whatever stooge the fascist junta proposes. Let us exceed the paltry 81 million votes for the guy who campaigned by the basement! macht durch gefälschte Wahlen! https://youtu.be/_2WwxFMAynI (Big Muddy) Best! P

ParticipantYes, it really is a complex and intricate “play”. Our little fella…and his mom. How wonderful! Nyet! Indeed. Very droll.
In a perhaps roguish path, here we’ll see a picture.
Now then…write captions…pretend you do not know the people, and be a bit cute too.
I have a pretty good idea what Stumpy would write. Of course he’s always tryin’ for a group discount.

ParticipantAs we know, industrial civilization runs on oxidation reactions. True whether it’s food or fuel or “energy” in the handy form of electric power. That this could take place is beyond words. Utterly insane. Mass murder in somewhat slow motion…gee! what’s that up ahead?
We had, I think, similar educations, up to a point. I never fit in very well. Fate released me from discipline too soon, and that made a difference. I became a sort of “anthropologist”…or Candide, present, and also a shadow. Interestingly, I think, Mother too had wanderlustic nature…full scholarship to Stanford at 16, a job, and a shared apartment in Palo Alto…only to accede to her father’s wishes and go home…in 1932, I think. Anyway, my roguish behavior was understood sympathetically. If Father had lived longer… well! I wonder about that. I wonder how much choice we really have.
The coal stations “de-commissioning” sounds like “scrapping”. If so, the machinery is probably lost to the fellas that buy old steam machines and re-sell them. Turbines get repurposed in canneries and such, for example I’ve installed marine Elliot turbines from ships to run tomatopaste pumps. Anyway, no turning the plants back on, ever.
Funny powder… I have seen in acute amphetamine cases the dope fiend get so out of it that they forget where they put it, or just leave the stuff on the seat…you know. So? The kid lost his dope. Duh. Ahseenitafore. I have sent those guys home without a drug test. Once. Next time no more Mr Nice Guy…grow up! It worked ok.
Icemachine… Well they did it first…I guess. But Franklin did it in London iirc, ethanol evap. I shall savor the video! Thanks!
Meantime, fits and starts and I’m gaining on my solar project. Fuses and DC breakers. Boyscoutphysics. But bad choices in machine building can be lethal. Anoxia too may not have electricity, someday. Speaking of argon…I shall have to pay the cost.
Best! P
Mr P
ParticipantThe gas problem touches everything. Some are fairly common, like argon…(about 1% of air is argon) but getting it smooshed into a can at 3000psi is not a backyard project. The sexy gasses are much harder to capture and clean up…fractional distillation and probably catalysts too….mucho kilowatthours. Build machine to do this? Start with the foundry, casting pump casings and motor frames…takes several years, and that’s if you really care.
Pretty much can’t run a muffler shop without argon.
I think you’re right. De-industrialization. Some screwy female pol in US circus show said “we don’t need farms anymore since we have grocery stores”… Mrs P caught that one… But not everybody is bald stupid. It must be by design, some insane fantasy…”Were such things here as we do speak about? Or have we eaten on the insane root. That takes the reason prisoner?”
Meantime Operation Anadyr, for the fellas reading along, has wiki> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Anadyr
Evidently a false comrade, they say one Oleg Penkovsky blew the gag to MI6 and the fellas.
Naturally they say this saved the day. This is a tautological claim. It’s interesting to speculate as to how the operation would have worked if the treason had not screwed it up. The armament was very impressive.
It’s a mystery to me what modern complex “Oak” is, but VVP was quoted in Pravda…and now even one Corvette missile boat…

If this were a soap opera we’d now have some criminal family running th’ banana republic. And such juntas tend to fall to military coup. I mean, they have the guns, right?
FA>FO reaction very interesting.
It may be that decision has been taken, specific plans in review. Such my gut whispers.

Stumpy says Mickey says that when you got to knock a guy off, if you screw it up, then you have bigbigproblem, as in “now you are the target”. Stauffenberg comes to mind.
I assume that from this time the special explosives will be on the optional list. They have been on the nazi optional list since 1945…so it’s sorta natural.
Once Bear become fully aroused…Best! P

ParticipantWell, I took the oath. And keep it. But not blind. I think the US will be lost from the discipline of the nazi cadre and dissolve according to the “reagent” conditions – and “chemical” reactions. These take time…how “molar” is the soultion? (that’s a pun). How “hot”? 3 meals to riot….A violent and horrible process. Now, obviously, well begun. I expect it will go on, until it don’t. I hope they leave us here @ Anoxia alone. Maybe they will. Nobody can say. The cities are self-nuked already.
It seems that there is no US. What we see is simulacrum, a shadow. Persistence of image.
What they design to do to the world, will befall they themselves. Everybody knows. Most people are both optimistic and resigned to let the Fates roll, ’cause everybody knows they will. Of course individual “churches of ways of seeing”, tinted glasses…some of these are bald racist ideas, some are crazy, some are smart and decent, they vary, but everybody knows. We went a-drivin’ in the hinterlands to-day, and everybody waved hello…lambs and goats and some Brahma cattle. A smallish coyote. They all know they’re getting screwed…and enemy of my enemy is probably being thought….since they all know they’re being lied to.A neighbor, one Sunday, braced me with a warning that that in a few years we would have to defend our neighborhood again’ “Islamic Turrusts”…I gave him a beer. It’s in the air, we’re phucked…we just don’t know how badly or which special ways. Hereabout, the native families and the whites from the gold rush are now antediluvian, admixed…and everybody knows what happened here. Baldy, extermination by gun and death march. Forgiven. Not forgotten. They just want to run their businesses and be left to get on in peace. But elsewhere! Ah…I’d rather not look.

In the Red Hunt 1950 phase my teachers were terrorized, as most had been involved with communism, like most US people, in the 1930’s…the working people anyway, and the state colleges. They taught in subtle coded way.
First grade> “Class, if everybody else jumped off a bridge, would you also jump?” No kidding!
camlania ……… https://archive.ph/1WH2d see> “By the way, the dependence on agricultural products and food products from our country has been recognized everywhere, hence the endless camlania on the topic of grain deals. Although it is already clear to everyone that in its current form it is not needed and must be terminated without fail. We will be able to help our partners anyway, but it is not our task to feed the fat – faced European burghers. To do this, they have their own old and bald “liver sausage” there, as well as a lot of highly educated gynecologists who brilliantly rule the European economy.” (Med) Man, the cat is a fine writer…after the Red Victory I hope I get to read his books.

ParticipantYes indeed, it is entirely unrealistic to remove the “stuff”. In a sense, imho, NPP-Z is not defensible. Oh yes, it is defended, but stationary targets are stationary targets, that this target is “pregnant”. So? How defend the indefensible? Indirectly.
“Go-!” said he sternly then. “We will call it a stand-off, a Mexican stand-off, you lose your money, but you save your life!” (ostensibly) F. Harvey Smith, Sunday Mercury, New York, 1876″ (wiki)

Participant………….about the BAS bit… dispersing the bombs is done to make less effective any possible enemy attack on the bomb storage bunker. The article is saturated with rote repetitions of bald falsehoods, of course. Dispersal will be duly noted in Kremlin, and moves tension a notch up the “launch perimeter” scale. I think the machine require a very well controlled storage… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plutonium for example can change phase from ductile to brittle, more or less for no reason…and that phuckzup the plan to squish the pretty ball. I am sure there are all sorts of good reasons for the controlled environment…but these are going to be set aside in favor of preparations for third use, or 4th…we’ll see. Anyway Comrade Putin and the fellas will note implications. I knew a guy I hired for a few days, he’d been a mechanic on B-61 bombs. He was a little crazy, but a good worker. There are no material secrets. Just stuff people don’t bother to read.
Author coruscates > ” While the United States and its allies must manage the risks of nuclear escalation carefully, defeating Putin, restoring Ukrainian sovereignty, and reinforcing the rules-based order must be our priorities.”
Ok, analyze for semantic value. Add facts. The only rational situation in which using a nuke makes sense is when you’re losing. He’s admitted that the US is losing, as it is impossible to do what he claims are the priorities, so he’s saying they’re going to do it.
Oh how very fine are the multitude of examples for lessons in the English Department! In the old days people studied rhetoric, and grammar, even spelling! The Standards at BAS give the tells… collapse.
BTW, note the claim that the only rational use…implies that the US lost W2. It did, see?
Molecular cracking process takes Time…but it began with Truman. And the proof of lost W2 is there, everywhere, to see.

ParticipantOh! I get it…the “several decades” from Brother L445… We, he and I, disagree. I had read it, it’s an opinion. Where we disagree is in the assumptions of imperatives. I estimate that it is not realistic to assume a constant rate of degeneration, nor of ascendancy. I estimate that Russia is constitutionally obliged to “interfere” inside the US…mostly because there are so many dangerous “lose cannons, and lost canons”. The silly propaganda about “Russian interference” is BS right now…but it’s the gun on the wall in act one. The US won’t have, does not have, decades. Like the fellas say motus in fine velocior.
Longtimeago I used to subscribe to wallstreetjournl…and there read story of innate stability of USA juxtaposed to innate instability of filthlygodlesscommieussr. The idea being that if DC were vaporized the Country would take the hit and recover within the Customs and Laws, unchanged…but! Ah! If Moscow were vaporized, the USSR and Russia would disintegrate into a vast sea of disparate statelets, all at war with one-another. Obviously, I thought about it. It may have been a serious, if wishful, speculation in 1975, but I had doubts even then. So?
No responsible prevailing power is going to permit the insane and ruthless, delusional, fascists to keep nuclear and biological “machinery” without “discipline”…which means Power…and Mao told us whence comes Power. It’s a brutal logic, but the US zone gets occupied, probably by invitation and without violence. Well, without very much violence…it remains to be seen. Maybe Mr Texas will get his ride in Ruskie APC through Houston. If the Comrade gets to Anoxia and sees the flag and stops, it’s vodka or tea….
Meantime, US military recruiters reject 91%, I hear…too stupid, too sick, too addicted, too ignorant…and that’s with specially low “standards”… and the military families that “supplied” fodderunits for generations are advising their kids to avoid the military. Thus closes 80% of enlistments… Never mind the practical aspect…this means the young men are functionally in rebellion, they will not fight. What’s left is mercenary and dangerous and without loyalty…gangs. Good luck with the “decades”…
That’s why I didn’t bother to shake the argument. Red Army is just getting started.
All this would have been avoided if Wallace had been on the ticket in ’44, All this would have been avoided if the State had kept to the Constitution. And the first use would not have already happened. What would Benjamin Franklin, er “Prudence Goodbody” have said?

Participant“that amazing rejoinder” ? I lost the track, Brother. No comprendo.
Of Wagner> The once-a-cadet recalls a story about redemption told by the US Marines. In the US Civil War, the story goes, USMC panicked, mutinied, and ran away under fire. Later the same organization expurgated its guilt at battle Belleau Wood in W1. Bald truth, whatever it was, is irrelevant to the story. What is relevant is collective guilt was carried over 5+ decades, and liquidated by the men that didn’t do it. In the example Wagner it, the guilt, will be liquidated by a mixture of both kinds. This collective spirit is just part of the awful way, the Dow, I suppose, of armies. https://archive.ph/7LiNs The perhaps apocryphal tale goes that the Marines were pinned down in hopeless position and some old old sergent yelled out “something like “Whatamatterwithyouphucks! Yawanna live forever? Charge! (and so they did, so the story). I can still smell the gunoil, see the rifles in their racks – in the armory where they were trying to get me to see the story as a lesson in the good. I was mildly appalled.
Not every soldier will stand up to a machine gun to liquidate the real or imagined guilt of somebody else, or even his own. That’s why officers carry guns. And that what those guys over there are for… “here’s lookin’ at you…” Like Walter said…it’s a League Game…
Malaria> In Time, everybody comes to the River. And once upon a time I knew rivervolk along a very pretty reach of river…out west too. And the older people had been infected when young by malaria…they told stories about it. I believe that the Sacramento – San Joaquin pre-European period was naive with respect to several species of valuable fur-bearing species, and also free from malaria. However… intrepid enterprise soon brought a remedy…and infected fur species were introduced. It was particularly hard on the native tribes and the working class Anglos. The pretty reach is now a riprapped channel – essentially cloaca-like, speaking of Billyboy… The malaria in Florida may be expected to become re-introduced out west. I think it was eradicated only in the late 1940s with the use of oil and DDT and a public health campaign…then later the system of flood control dams…
Cholera, typhoid, rabies… doncha jus luv an encore… I’m thinking of the riparian homeless people that now inhabit in such density with no sanitation, and plenty of dope.
Alex the Elder gave a personal background story from Switzerland. A politically bifurcated family. I can relate… @duran.
Hot day @ Anoxia. Water corn, Rake leaves. Actually too hot even for motorcycle.
Of bigbigphakeholiday 4 July… remembering how much Premier Kissoff loves surprises… That and NPS-Z. Hal shrilly calls of nukesnifferplane moved to FOB… yet up until the metastatic cascade of violence is triggered, it doesn’t have to happen…and I do wonder if some people have not been told that they themselves are in rifle sights, personally in the cross-hairs. Wanna bet? Stumpy gives poor odds.

ParticipantQuick note, Brother…mostly re above, yes.
Note that as The Emperor N is said to have said, you can do anything with bayonets except sit on them…Wagner bad boys will, I expect, not be dispersed, rather most of them will die in combat. Brutal, but “best”… and fair, too. Let Heaven judge them, and their cases may have merit at celestial trial.
Speaking of which…I often think about Bontsha the Silent… his crime was meekness…their crimes are of another character…but both sorts are defensible, and charity mitigates, they say.
Preface> I want nothing to do with dope or the rackets or the people that do.
The French narcogang stuff is way beyond me. I’ve seen terrible stuff, but mostly among people of better class, not to be snooty. My opinion is that the dope business and the gun business, the war business, the armieswest rackets and the bank business and the mafia and the spies are one in a vast incestuous bordello. A tiny example…for decades amphetamine was more or less legal and over the counter. It was also easy to synthesize, if anybody wanted to. And doing so was not illegal. It was not much of a social problem. The (calling Laurel Canyon and Company) happened, and it was popularized in “Look” and so on, and on TV…and there was a baby boom and the mothers were working….an epidemic of injection use of amphetamine followed in waves…and now it’s super illegal and functionally impossible to synthesize … while massive factory scale synthesis goes on in Mexico…and there is no Southern border to speak of…big (like D=1 meter) reaction vessels in parallel batch production according to snapshots I’ve seen. That means it’s licensed. Protected. An instrument. The only rational view of this is as a business model, with Government (Pelosi did her part) in league with organized crime and the rest of their charming circle of finks, cut-throats, pols, and richphuckazzwholecapitalistdogs. The French gangs probably have similar associations. I do wonder if our dear little Macron is being punished for some rule violation….
When the US and the USSR both had stand alone industrial economies things were free and easy…though I can’t speak to the US South or East…but out West it was easy for everybody, and the economy was fairly honest, people made things. Steel. Railroad wheels, table saws…ladders. There were few laws, little crime, dope was almost legal and nobody wanted any… fairly healthy, outside of the smoking and excessive drinking, and much of that was from PTSD and the war. There were more or less no gun laws either…and few shootings.
The cash is, they say, keeping banks and rackets “solvent” This was the theme from https://www.amazon.com/Big-White-Lie-Operation-Sabotage/dp/0985238623 Mr officer cop Levine
My gut hunch is that once you make a gang it’s silly to expect loyalty…
They say that the tinder is even drier in Germany… “And yet, based on the available data, the situation in France is not as explosive as in Germany or Austria” https://www.rt.com/news/579041-france-riots-migration-unrest/ (I am delighted that Dr K Kneissl has found a good position! Her treatment by Austria was shameful)
