The rocket runs on O2 and CH3. I’d speculate that the low density high altitude explosions resulted in the unreacted fraction of CH3 dispersing in the explosion after-effects and scrubbing the ozone, a lot of it. While the unreacted fraction O2 began to form ozone again. Of course most or much of the fuel load probably did react in the explosion(s), producing CO2 and H2O, which probably will continue, degrading into free radicals created by solar UV, albeit in the high energy low density solar-magnetic “vacuum tube” ad hoc ‘speriment, more slowly, for a long time.

Upper atmosphere, or even (big) surface nuclear detonations also blast huge holes and cause big trouble in the upper reaches.
