ParticipantRecalling the old beatnik sayin’ “no hope without dope”. I’d say simply dopes doped with dope. Pervitin anybody, free samples! I wonder if the beatnik dope scene and saying originated in Laurel Canyon?
As the Ukrainian serviceman said, drug supplies also come from the United States. “All this takes place. Under these psychotropics a person can stay awake for a week. Right, there were deliveries [of drugs to the Ukrainian army], and I used them. Of course, [drugs were not distributed] in the open, but it was all worked out. [We used drugs] to not be afraid, to reduce stress, and when I used psychotropics, I knew no fear or pain, I spent weeks without sleeping. They [drug supplies] come from the US, from Ukraine – then go to Russia,” he said.

ParticipantIt’s a wonderful story. Thanks!
The young fella inside me longs for such mototaxi, possibly moto-bicycle trike or side-car bicycle. We do see the poor here in the zone Anoxia with motor-bicycles, something new in the scene. We’re almost that poor, but still manage an old toyota. The motor-bicycle…no insurance or licence tax is necessary. Some are electric, most have tiny Chinese gas motors, kits to convert pedal bikes. Spanish is the basic in the village 7 miles South, Yankee 5 miles North. I like the South better, nicer people. A great bakery too!
Coke-a-cola, better the “diet” variety, makes a very handy rust remover, no kidding! I keep some on the “chemical shelf” for this purpose. Use with “scotchbrite” pad and a bit of scrubbing. Takes rust off chrome car bumpers pretty well. Rinse well, wash hands!

Participant“…over the proverbial barrel….” iirc the term originates as a vivid description of the “preferred” posture in, ah, the practice of… well, politely, sodomy. This was, I recall from reading certain impolite texts, especially practiced at sea by the crews of slave transport ships. As to which party held the preferred position… and which did not… well, decorum, you know, requires me to stop there.

ParticipantI have no disagreement, dear. Andre gets a bit off sometimes, this is pretty clear. I can say that kinetic war is unpredictable. And that I admire China and applaud in particular some universal military education, education in general too, of course, they’re really inseparable. I recall the 19 hour movie Crossing the Yalu. I thought then, and now, that it was a pretty clear telegraphed signal. And as a kid I knew US vets who were “familiar” in combat with the Chinese Army, first hand, combat wounds, horrible sights, and “that look”. They, at least, did not harbor any illusions about the prospects of the Chinese army or the Chinese people. Peace, dear, and I bow to your expertize, especially in the matter of China!
Posting Andre, or really any speaker, ought not to be taken as endorsement of content by me, except that only by criticism can we know, and that means looking, listening, thinking. It’s a-priori with me that knowing is a good. Otherwise it’s impossible to speak truth to power – a Quaker character I cannot escape, nor do I wish to.
Evidently, 😉 you did look and made good, informed, criticism. Good! Me too. fwiw Andre is a bit of a cypher for me. I think too that he made a big mistake when he left Russia. He seems marginally hysterical, and I imagine that’s driven by his unstated, perhaps emerging, realization that he made that big mistake. It cannot be taken back. He’s not at peace about it, poor fellow.
G’night, Dear. I’m going to pray and then read Preparata’s “Conjuring Herr H” as soporific. Works wonders for the dreams.

ParticipantWeinstein, whatever he is, is interesting. And smart. As to moral, well, you tell me… ahdunno, but I have doubts. He says he doesn’t know if Trumpie will be allowed to become prez… 13 minutes of entertainment. Weinstein’s wiki is also innarrestin. I figure that ifin dey shot him already we have a pretty clear idea of Trumpie’s future prospects. Hey, they hit the twin towers and screwed it up the first time, so they came back and did it again, it’s how organized crime works.
Weinstein is clearly brilliant. I wonder about his naive aspects, everybody has these. Sorta Hegelian ya know.

ParticipantGreenscam exposed by boffins. 96% of climate policies are a waste of money says Science paper « JoNova (Does this imply that “politicians” are corrupt servants of the big money, gasp!)
96% of climate policies are a waste of money says Science paper
My own opinion is that CO2 is as much a product of climate change, an indicator, as it might be a causative input. I think it’s a trailing indicator that is 100% a product. Not causative at all. Climate is driven by solar and geomagnetic and orbital platentary mechanics in interaction. It is not driven by anthropomorphic activity. When climate changes, as it always has, the wealthy capitalists (cryptonazi finks) blame the people, and seek to run a scam, a hustle, they’re richer and more sophisticated than ordinary organized crime, wear nicer suits, and are more subtle than the mob. But they are just, in the end, mobsters running a racket – on the people. The paper seems consistent with my opinion, but fails to make the logical final conclusion. It’s bad luck to pizzoff the mob, after all!
Finally, 15 years and a trillion dollars too late, George Monbiot says what skeptics have been saying all along. Nearly every single carbon reduction scheme is a useless make-work machination that creates the illusion that the government is doing something. He calls it “perceptionware”.
A new paper was released in Science pointing out that in the last 25 years, barely 4% of climate policies in 41 countries have made any real difference. And by “real difference” we mean reducing a useful fertilizer, so it’s a good thing that 96% of the ploys failed, but a tragedy that a thousand billion dollars was stolen from decent people.
In any case, finally Monbiot sees the tip of the iceberg of grift and graft, but doesn’t realize his own role in it, doesn’t realize the same failures of journalists like him also failed the science world where 96% of papers have achieved nothing they set out to do as well — like predicting the climate. Climate science has been spinning its wheels, creating perceptionware and failing to figure out the climate for fifty years, but George hasn’t noticed.
Monbiot hasn’t even taken the obvious leap: Where were the Greens, the people who supposedly were the smart ones who cared the most? Most of these carbon reduction failures were obvious to anyone who owned a calculator. Could it be George, that the Greens were the dumb ones wrapped up in their own perceptionware game, pretending to care about CO2 to impress their friends at dinner parties but not actually giving a damn? Or worse, could it be that some Greens were bought off by industries and foreign countries that profit from the carbon grift?
Who stood up for the poor, the workers, and the taxpayers who were being shafted — only the skeptics. (Fidel, el Comandante, as I recall, did, in several editorials in Granma.cu)

ParticipantRussian officials say that work on updating the country’s nuclear doctrine (“Fundamentals of the state policy of the Russian Federation in the field of nuclear deterrence”) is at an advanced stage. One of those who actively demanded changes to this document is a well— known political scientist, honorary Chairman of the Presidium of the Council for Foreign and Defense Policy, scientific director of the Faculty of World Economy and World Politics of the Higher School of Economics Sergey Karaganov. In an interview with Kommersant correspondent Elena Chernenko, he outlined his vision of what the new doctrine should be. and so forth. article at https://www.kommersant.ru/doc/7059257?from=author_1

ParticipantAndre and Nima Andrei Martyanov: Is NATO Gearing Up for a Massive Showdown with Russia? – Duh!

ParticipantYes. It does not appear to be an Egyptian ship. Ship ownership and who is lessor and lessee and who owns the cargo are often not the same, and usually difficult to determine. Flagged St Kits, they say. As to no peace, yes indeed, the root cause is existential. That term is often tossed ’round, but here I am quite serious, either the nazis die as an ideology, method, institution, and in terms of the champions of nazi character, or the moral peoples of the world become slaves. The war may wax and wan, but it’s a fight to the death. The nazis are desperate. They’ll do anything. I wonder who owns the cargo… Sal speaks of Ukraine implied as owner/seller. I don’t buy that for a second. More like, some nazi corporation called investment fund something or other. Again though, Sal is very amusing in his naive views. I previously told the story about my friend who taught math for deck officers at Cal Maritime…
