Frequent hand washing, don’t touch your face, don’t share (in those days people drank from a common cup) don’t use public wash-rooms or fountains if you can manage it. When I was a young fella and (it was the time of pretty free sex, the 60’s, as they say), I had bad colds almost all the time, speaking of sharing! – Just a speculation, but I wonder if that period gave me strong immunity into old age.
