This month’s reflection follows from a hadith, a saying of the Prophet Muhammad (may peace be upon him) from the 7th century. In English it goes something like:

“If the Day of Judgment comes for you while you’re planting a sapling, carry on and plant it.”

Or in the Arabic: إِنْ قَامَتْ عَلَى أَحَدِكُمْ الْقِيَامَةُ وَفِي يَدِهِ فَسْلَةٌ فَلْيَغْرِسْهَا

This is interesting in at least three ways. First is the role of humans as a steward or care-taker of the Earth (khalifa in Arabic). This is a super cross-cultural teaching about our responsibilities to the rest of life. The implication seems to be that if we’re going to be surprised by the end of the world (your death, Judgment Day, and/or your personalized form of doom), in that moment when the curtain is being raised, planting a tree is worthy enough to carry on with the task. Agreed.

Remarking that smoothie and others may be in error when they discuss the options facing the “anglosaxon” or “American” empire. Succinctly, the nuclear option, since they cannot prevail in the military  direction – the option set of two, unthinkable surrender of defeat or the nuclear unthinkable. There exists the option of releasing biological agency that’s so deadly that few survive. I think we ought to expect that third option.  That third option would, I note, be more in the nazi character, and they’re working on developing that, with a vast array of experts and laboratories. From early inter-net days I recall a Soviet biologist describing a 100% deadly two-stage agent that had enough latency of mechanism to spread globally as a bacteria, appear to resolve, and then present as a virus to kill the hosts…the Soviets did not make it, but they knew how, he said. Much “progress” in biology since Soviet times…

It may seem arcane to ask, when does a crime stop? We often know when one begins, but when does it stop? If a crime continues, what are the implications? If criminals and their abettors conspire to conceal their crime, does the crime continue?

If a coup by murder takes place, and a conspiracy to conceal material evidence follows for decades…is the cime continuing? What effect does this have on the status of the organized and acting conspirators? Is their organization a criminal one?

If it is a criminal organization, would one expect that organization to commit more and sundry crimes? Has that happened? Give examples. Quiz Friday.

It did not occur to me that the absence of mention of zionists was a significant defect, as the zionist project itself already stands as one of the biggest crimes – and the whole world already knows. The exposure of the germwar at the url does not seem like a limited hangout to me. “Focused”, perhaps. Not everybody yet knows about the scope of the germwar, which, like Gaza and the rest, goes on.
