The reason I bring this up is to show that Heinlein and many other knew very well that the senior and many minor nazis went to Argentina – just after the war it was an open secret. An honest experienced officer would have said  “German troops would be ready to die trying to kill Russian soldiers when Moscow is attacked by Germany.”
