Orange’s incoherent transmission does not seem to me to be  a fit object for rhetorical analysis, which being of rhetoric, deals with the argument, not the speaker…however it does seem to invite editorial analysis – specifically what does it tell us about the speaker. That question seems pregnant. Panic, fear, irrationality…these come to mind. So does the wise, if trite, dictum, better to stay silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and thereby demonstrate than one is infact a fool. My impression of the thing is that Orange is terrified, and is guilty of something he expects would or will bring him humiliation – which condition is for him to be avoided at any cost.
