I do dispute the stated idea that the war will end in the Iran zone, the campaign will move to other arenas. It is a world war against the imperialist nazi manifestation. I think he stayed on topic, but an out of topic aspect is, I think, significant. Against the sky an object presents silhouette. Similarly, against the earth an object aloft presents both silhouette and casts a shadow. Optical tracking, recognition, and target homing is an emerging technical feature. It will be (and maybe is already in some degree) integrated into the multi-band radar approach to air-defense arrays. By “optical” I include the full spectrum, not just visible light.

I was thinking about how these fellows rationalize their position. It’s some sort of Orwell-double-think. Brother (Quaker) Smedley Butler addressed it in a way. While in active duty, he says, he began to suspect that he was being used as a hit man for big business, he says. After active duty he really focused on it and the truth came to him rather stark. Making an army revolves around a kind of propaganda, conditioning, shaping of malleable minds of innocent young men, until they act unthinking and as one. This, in its roughest example, is the story of Sun Tsu and the women… A similar discipline is found in the original meaning of decimate in the Roman armies. A unit that failed to obey was forced to draw lots, and every tenth man was the beaten to death by the other members of his unit. What’s important with respect to the “day of the long knives” we’re watching isn’t the real or imagined morality of the officer, but the respect that those who are not removed had for them. A matter of belief. Clearly, the gang is afraid of the army. That may be the most rational thing about the gang.
ParticipantI have read that the term “Machtergreifung” conveys a sense of a lawful seizure of power, but that’s just what I read. Like our mad orange clown, the Fuhrer was also elected according to the form of law. In fact, though, there were plenty of crimes along the way. It may also conjure up reaction…as did the Machtergreifung of long ago. That accounts, I think, for the removal of the officers that might, er, “react”…which is why I mentioned the Colonels… coups tend to come from those ranks. The tradition in parts of the world is a regrettable helicopter or airplane crash, followed by a splendid funeral. Somewhat more subtle than Dallas. Similar outcome.
