Blocked🔥 Lavrov Clarity
“If the Zelensky regime now rejects all these characteristics, already talks about nuclear weapons, about joining NATO, about abandoning neutrality, then probably the very grounds that were the basis for recognizing Ukraine as an independent state disappear.” pic.twitter.com/iYeXUQCNnY
— Will Schryver (@imetatronink) August 19, 2025💠 @imetatronink:
⭕️🔻 Kristian Thyregod: …, either that, or starting to appear as a perfect EU candidate country. Ohh, wait
🔻 Muncerus: Lavrov’s clarification is indeed very important at this point in time. European media are already pushing the narrative, that Russia is ready to accept European tripwire forces in Ukraine in combination with US security guarantees.Insisting on Ukraine’s neutrality and force reduction in exchange for accepting Ukraine as an independent state is key. A neutral state does not accommodate foreign troops, nor surveillance aircraft on its territory. And must have normal trade relations with all sides, including Russia. In other words: no EU membership either
If Europe is unwilling to accept this, the war will continue until Ukraine’s military surrender or some internal coup, or civil war.
America doesn’t hold the cards anymore and will withdraw. The short trade war against China has been lost, so secondary sanctions are off the list
🔻 Yodysseus: The UN should revoke recognition of Israel.Compare its representations (peace-loving, respect Resolution 181, honor UN Charter) with its secret, undisclosed intentions (to manufacture war/conflict to expand its borders and ethnically cleanse Palestinians) held by Ben-Gurion.
🔻 Sa Ba: All cards are on the table now
🔻 kurth bousman …..Truth is just a rumor: what the lord giveth, the lord can take away
⭕️🔻 Lord Bebo: 🇷🇺🇺🇦 Zelensky refused Putin’s offer to hold a bilateral meeting in Moscow, — AFP
🔻 WS: No surprise here. The Russians will not offer the Ukrainians any terms that do not entail the submissive acknowledgement — whether tacit or explicit — of Ukraine’s total defeat. That’s what happens in the real world when you win a big war.
🔻 Peter Gregor: Russia will not stop until it achieves all its SMO goals. When will Western experts finally understand? And what idiot would agree to a ceasefire (guaranteed by NATO 😂) while they are winning?
⭕️ retweet:
🔻 Alexander G. Rubio: The plan is for the US to sell weapons to the Europeans, who will then provide them to Kiev. However, the US doesn’t have the weapons to sell, the Europeans don’t have the money to buy, and Kiev doesn’t have the soldiers to use them. Other than that it’s a foolproof plan
⭕️ 🤦♂️ The White House is now floating the prospect of “security guarantees” for Ukraine in the form of European “boots on the ground” coupled with US air support. This, of course, is absurd nonsense. It will not happen.
🔻 Chamberlain’s Ghost: Oh, the latest thinking per Politico is that these ‘boots on the ground’ will be ‘reassurance’ forces that will not actually engage with Russian forces, which will be left to the Ukrainians. It increasingly sounds like a total pack of nonsense
⭕️🔻 Brian Berletic:
🇺🇸Just 4 hours ago – Fox News posts an interview with US Sec. of State Marco Rubio who repeats the exact same justification for Ukraine to defacto join NATO or a NATO-like alliance that has been used for DECADES and which led to this whole conflict in the first place……the notion any nation can join a “security alliance” (NATO or defacto NATOized) and Russia doesn’t get a say in it.
What is the purpose of these alliances? Protection? From who? Or to create battering rams the US openly uses against nations it targets for encroachment and eventually regime change?
This is Minks 3.0 – and the only way it isn’t in the minds of those putting it together is the hope that Russia won’t have the opportunity or means of launching another SMO once the pieces fall into place.
Rubio is a necon. Trump is a necon. This is continuity of agenda – not the first time in over a century the US genuinely seeks change/peace – not even the first time during a Trump presidency any such thing is taking place |media|
🔻 Dagny Taggart: I don’t understand Brian why so many are in denial, it is almost as they had a brain lobotomy. The US administration lays it out in front of the public.
🔻 Brian Berletic: And this exact administration has implemented several other neocon agendas in just the past half year or so…… Denial and partisan-induced delusion is powerful.
🔻 Dagny Taggart: Fully agree Brian
🔻 WS: I acknowledge the #EmpireAtAllCosts cult still retains its aspirations, and that they still wield potent and well-organized political influence. My argument has always been that they simply lack the material and logistical wherewithal to realize their foreign policy fantasies.

⭕ Lavrov: The West has sabotaged the creation of a Palestinian state for decades 🇵🇸- 📝 The Russian Foreign Minister stated the need to resume negotiations on the final status of the Palestinian territories in accordance with UN resolutions. He noted that these decisions have been sabotaged by Western countries for decades.
- 📊 The minister accused European leaders of hypocrisy regarding the recognition of Palestine, claiming that recognition only occurs when it has no practical significance, counting on the fact that by the time of recognition Israel will have completed its actions.

South Korea and its ally the United States launched joint military exercises this week, including testing an enhanced response to North Korea’s increased nuclear threats.
The annual 11-day exercises, called Ulchi Freedom Shield, will be similar in scale to those in 2024 but adjusted by postponing 20 of the 40 field trainings to September, the South Korean military said earlier. These postponements come as South Korean President Lee Jae Myung seeks to ease tensions with North Korea, although analysts remain skeptical about Pyongyang’s reaction.
The exercises were a “clear expression of … their intention to remain the most hostile and confrontational” towards North Korea, Kim said. He added that the security environment requires the North to “rapidly expand” its nuclear armament, noting that the recent US-South Korea exercises included a “nuclear element.”

Blockedthe presence of Rubio does appear part of Plan B – the titillating disposal of the democratic gang that largely set up the biowar programs since 1990s (Nunn-Lugar, since expanded by Obama as a senator, and expanded by Bidens). Plan B is the trash disposal and throwing these scum under the bus after the manifest defeat to Russia/USSR, even though it was bipartisan policy all along (Lindsey Graham: describing U.S. military support to Ukraine as the “best money we’ve ever spent,” after noting that “Russians are dying“)
But will we get to see Plan B rolled out? They keep delaying the compacting of the neocons and Plan A… equivocating, teasing, and pushing it further and further into the horizon. We’re six months into Goldfinger 2.0. No serious signs of Retreat and rollback of hegemonic design. NB. These Nunn-Lugar deals with Yeltsin were used both ways. Used to seed the Russian Mir with WMDs, but cunning Russkie also used it to make the Yanquis dependent on their essentially free highly enriched uranium, the most stupendous source of energy obtained by USA since 1945. Up to 1/4 – 1/5 of current internal electricity generation inside CONUS is now reliant on this vital imported product.
I wrote 16.11.2o24 (#46548):
“About a quarter (?) US grid energy generation has become reliant (addicted since 1990s Nunn-Lugar-Obama agreements with Yeltsin!) on these sweet, cheap, and irreplaceable sourcing via Russia. Apparently they lost much of the tech knowhow, having outsourced this for almost 1/3 a century to Russia, along with heavy lift rocket engines and other critical tech. Dark Winter in CONUS is in the offing for sure, one way or the other, even if Armageddon can be evaded”
IOW, this is a power card held by Russia to collapse USA if need be, with all other avenues of peaceful co-existence exhausted. I bet the Moshiach is counting on it, to bring depopulationary Dark Winters to CONUS.PPS. (#18975) “The Nunn-Lugar Program which started during the Yeltsin era is one of the biggest heists in human history. One small component was selling to the USA 500 tons of Russian weapons-grade uranium for $11.9 billion for use as fuel in U.S. nuclear power plants. It went on to fuel 10% of all the electricity generated in the US for 15 years. The real value was closer to the equivalent $3.9 trillion it cost the US to produce 550 tons of weapons-grade uranium from 1945 to the present….
Read this thread and how much it cost Russia. The author alleges the details in this crime were rationale for siloviki coup attempts within Russia [bringing Putin to power]. 🔻 TonyBananas 🇺🇸: Hardly any nuclear scenario gamed out has either side WANTING to go to nuclear war. The scenarios most likely are out of control escalation through a security dilemma. Youre applying rational arbitrage, which any student if history can tell you do not exist in a security dilemma.
🔻 WS: Outside the past several decades, history never attested this security dilemma. In the Cold War nuclear crises, the two parties in question stepped back from the precipice.
That said, I plainly allowed for irrationality to prevail, but perhaps you didn’t read the whole piece.
🔻 Canadian Tire Battle Ork: Kaliningrad is Russia’s weak spot. A conventional move on Kaliningrad by Nato could result in Russia deploying Tac nukes to take it back.
🔻 WS: This is total nonsense. The US/NATO would be shredded to pieces if they ever attempted such a thing. But, as I have noted several times lately, I think they should let Chris Donahue give it a try. It might prove very salutary, all things considered.
🔻 Canadian Tire Battle Ork: A quick naval blockade and Poland has the force size to overwhelm Russia in that theater, 8:1. Would it be bloody? Yes. Very. Can I see the dummies trying something like this to keep a landline to the Baltics open? Yup. We shall see.
🔻 WS: Nonsense. No naval blockade could be effected. And, for all its historical stupidity, Poland is not going to play sacrificial proxy for NATO against Russia! There will be no attempt to conquer Kaliningrad, and if there were, it would be a catastrophic debacle for the US/NATO.
⭕🔻 Armchair Warlord: A thought about the state of my former employer, the US Army – an organization which drove me to distraction when I was in it and which continues to do so now that I’m enjoying civilian life.⬇️It is customary for state visits for a military honor guard to greet the visiting dignitary as both a show of respect for their person and as a display of military discipline. This is how things are done, including in the ever-parochial United States, so often “exceptional” in our own mediocrity.
Well, Vladimir Putin flew into Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska the other day and was greeted by an “honor guard” of… parked F-22s, a color party, and a small detachment of unarmed personnel in dress uniform, standing well back from the carpet. In fact I had to go back and review pictures of his arrival to realize they’d even been present for the ceremony at all, initially I’d thought there’d been no troops assembled whatsoever.
This is how it’s done in Russia for a visit of, frankly, far lesser importance. Xi Jinping is a powerful man but was just dropping by to watch a parade at the time, not negotiate a peace treaty.
I keep banging this drum. We saw this at the Army’s 250th birthday parade two months ago and we just saw it again. We aren’t impressing or scaring anybody by being ostentatiously unable to march in step, do basic drill, or organize straightforward military ceremonies when the eyes of the world are focused on us. The only message we’re sending with continued displays like this is that the US military is unmotivated, undisciplined, and fundamentally unserious. |media|
🔻 Kurt Kleinschmidt: If it was in D.C., I would have expected more pomp. This was a very brief meeting ostensibly to find out if there would be further meetings, or not.
🔻 Armchair Warlord: Thing is they clearly put in a lot of effort for it. This was not a casual drop-in.
🔻 Russians With Attitude: At least there was no Coinbase ad
🔻 WS: I submit the mistake was to have NOT run banner ads during the whole thing — with numerous cited endorsements of Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. What possibly could have been better late-stage America than that?
I feel cheated that they didn’t do it. 😏

🔻 Jim Sciutto: Don’t forget: Putin has called the collapse of the Soviet Union “the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the 20th century” and has been working to rebuild Russia’s sphere of influence since he took power.
🔻 Armchair Warlord: And he was completely, unironically, absolutely, correct. The fall of the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact did not bring about peace – it brought war, poverty, and the ongoing collapse of the Western order in a sinkhole of hegemonic hubris.
It benefited nobody.
What people don’t seem to understand is that “Cold War” is actually a synonym for peace.
🔻 Johanna deMartin: Global South says naah to that
[Indeed. It was merely a truce between “1st” and “2nd” “World”(s). The Rest were being exterminated with ever increasing vigor and verve]
🔻 leo Salgado: it was war on the margins, afganistan, korea, angola, vietnam…
🔻 BenLayZenji: In Europe, yes. Elsewhere…🙄
🔻 भारत धर्म: The existence of the Soviet Union put some pressure on the Owner-Oligarchs of the West to treat their own people with some decency. When that pressure was removed, there was nothing to curb their rapaciousness.
🔻 Kojo Kasena: Unless you were victims of covert operations of imperialism
🔻 Martin Anantharaman: It’s what Johan Galtung called a bad or unjust peace – without good faith intent to come to a constructive and respectful understanding.
🔻 bobcat: Yeah “peace” unless you’re in South America, Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, the military….AHH

🔻 WS: The kingdoms of this world come and go, almost all of them in like fashion to the others, as attested in the annals of antiquity. The big difference with the current iteration is that it has gone parabolic; events are accelerating, even as some claim “nothing ever happens”.
🔻 Dr. Anglo Phd🥭: They lost it after NATO sent troops to fight as mercenaries
🔻 WS: You mean from the very beginning?Because my sense is that there were more NATO-affiliated mercenaries in Ukraine in 2022-2023 than at any time since then.
The smart ones perceived quickly it wasn’t the fun safari they imagined, and they skedaddled at the earliest opportunity.
🔻 Maga Muppet Exposer: Why? Because they are standing up to Russia?
🔻 WS: Standing up?They are trembling puppies pissing themselves at the prospect of going to war against Russia — as well they ought to be.
Invading Russia’s strategic depth was a classic case of sowing the wind, and now the US/NATO/EU have reaped the whirlwind.

US seeks to “wrap up” Ukraine as it repositions for the resumption of war on Iran, esp. after Israel needed bailing out (again).First the Zangezur deal, now the redeployment of troops in Iraq.
links:
🔻 The Cradle: US forces redeploy in Iraq amid rising tensions: Asharq al-AwsatAsharq al-Awsat reports that US forces in Iraq have begun a new redeployment, shifting equipment and personnel between bases, including Ain al-Asad, in response to emerging security threats linked to rising tensions between Iran and Israel. A US official told Asharq al-Awsat the moves are “not wide in scope” but are tailored to a new security risk map, and do not alter the withdrawal agreement signed with Baghdad in 2024 that schedules an initial drawdown in September 2025 and full withdrawal by the end of 2026. Recent activity at Ain al-Asad included storing heavy logistical equipment and relocating sensitive technologies such as radars and early-warning systems to other regional bases.
The redeployment comes as Iran pressed Baghdad to help secure the border after reporting infiltration during its recent war with Israel. Iranian security chief Ali Larijani visited Baghdad but left dissatisfied, with Iraqi officials admitting they lacked the capacity to fulfill Tehran’s request. On 11 August, Larijani and Iraqi National Security Adviser Qassem al-Araji signed a memorandum on border control, which drew US objections.
Baghdad has so far maintained that the US withdrawal schedule remains unchanged. Iraqi officials insist the recent transfers are technical operations rather than an accelerated exit, while US officials emphasize the adjustments are part of coordinated security planning under the existing agreement.
🔻 WS: And time is increasingly of the essence given that Iran’s partners (Russia / China / DPRK) are now providing significant reinforcing armaments.
🔻 Lee Slusher: Absolutely. Tick tock.
🔻 Shivan Mahendrarajah: I don’t disagree, but evidence on types of weapons systems needed (esp air def & jets) is thin. Larijani tried to get Iraq to tighten air defenses but tough to do since Iraqi systems are basically non-existent. Iran is now patrolling Iraqi skies with UAVs
🔻 Lee Slusher: Agree. This is why I’ve thought, since just after Assad’s outster, that the plan was to cause enough instability there for Turkey to intervene. The US doesn’t have the forces. Not saying this is a good plan, only that I think it’s “the” plan.

🔻 Daily Turkic: Donald Trump:“Turkey is a major force – which had not been worn out with war. They’ve built a very strong powerful army.” |media|
🔻 KC Viernes: Tomorrow, Trump will side with Zelensky et al. Winning a 3-front war is the US dream.
🔻 Low Voltage 🇺🇲: Turkey would be making a huge gamble, but they also have huge aspirations (an empire from Libya to the Xinjiang). This would be their chance to become a world super power.
🔻 WS: The Turks can no more build an empire from Libya to Xinjiang and become a world superpower than conquer Mars.Türkiye stands between Russia and Iran, and would be opposed by the titanic Chinese.
Türkiye may do something impulsive they live to regret, but nothing meaningful.
[but they may try. These are irrational times. And Eschatology informs Turkey will be dismantled. Wonder why, if they’re so rational and peaceful and stay outta their neighbors’ business??]
🔻 Caligula’s Horse: Sir – I say as sign of respect rather than any intention to demote – I presume you’re a veteran of many Atropian campaigns? It appears to me that in order to remedy the deficiency of ’12-day war’, some sort of ground component will be necessary to attempt to lever out the regime. Now it appears that to supply that ground component, revolutionary fires amongst Iranian minority populations will be stoked – primarily the Azeris. But what is Azerbaijan actual geopolitical/military situation? Because, even w/ the corridor, it seems to me difficult to resupply.
Or, at any rate, far easier for Iranian-Russian pincers to take the country than for Turkey to defend.
🔻 Lee Slusher: I think it’s a terrible idea, but so was Ukraine. War with China over Taiwan would be an even worse idea by orders of magnitude, yet the Pentagon is reportedly planning for it.Consider how ridiculous the 12-Day War was—relying on standoff weapons and Afghan saboteurs while Iran rained down missiles. But Israel won’t give up and therefore neither will the US. They see Iran as the weakest link in an effort to revive the US hegemony on which all of Israel’s maximalist aims, domestic and regional, rest.
I think the *goal* is to make Turkish involvement inevitable (not that Turkey wants this, would win, or that such a war would remain localized). US/Israel will continue to remove guardrails and to stir the pot. Azeris would play a role, but the Kurds, too.
The Zangezur deal is audacious as is. If it were to go uncontested, the West would use it as a pressure point, ratcheting it up to starve the burgeoning Middle Corridor and the existing North-South one. If there’s a war, then the other side is being “contested” or “tied down,” which DC considers a win in itself.
The empire is applying pressure where it can, and the options to do so are much more limited than they were in the past. Things become more desperate as this dynamic plays out.
🔻 WS: I appreciate this analysis, and believe it has much merit. But, in my view, it still all depends on the US being able to simultaneously project decisive power to a multitude of strategic hotspots.I am thoroughly convinced at this point that they lack such capability.
🔻 Seeji Sundarakshan: yes… didn’t the US take some 7 months to airlift stuff to friendly ME countries in 2003 to invade Iraq?!War with Iran would require 2-3 times of that…
🔻 WS: The overwhelming majority of the war matériel was delivered by sea, through the Strait of Hormuz. In 2025, it could not be done via sea nor air. US ships and bases would be highly vulnerable to Iranian missiles.
War against Iran is, plain and simple, a logistical impossibility.
🔻 Seeji Sundarakshan: So, all that the Empire is left with is the Israeli and British concocted sabotage and subversion Ops! 😏
🔻 Salamanca: But they are delusional enough to try anyway, aren’t they?AHH

⭕ 🇸🇩 “Don’t die in foreign wars”: Colombian president responds to Sudan’s call to stop Colombian mercenariesSudan’s Prime Minister Kamel Idris addressed the people of Colombia in Spanish, urging them to stop recruiting mercenaries to participate in combat operations alongside armed groups in the war-torn Darfur region.
“I call on the Colombian people and all Spanish-speaking communities to remain steadfast in their determination to end the siege of El Fasher and to stop the selection and sending of mercenaries to our land,” said Kamel Idris.
This appeal followed the release of video footage allegedly showing Colombians fighting for El Fasher in North Darfur alongside the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The Colombian newspaper La Silla Vacía reported that militants led by retired Colonel Alvaro Cejano and supported by the UAE-based company Global Security Services Group, in addition to participating in combat, are recruiting and training children in guerrilla warfare tactics in Nyala, South Darfur.
In response to Kamel Idris’s call, Colombian President Gustavo Petro wrote on his official social media account on X*:
“Young former soldiers and officers, do not sell yourselves. Fight for your homeland, not to die in foreign wars.”
Recall that the Colombian government officially apologized to Sudan in December 2024 for the involvement of its citizens in mercenary activities. At that time, the country’s president stated that all necessary measures had been taken to hold these citizens legally accountable.
