Speaking to Al Mayadeen, Professor Mohammad Marandi asserted that Iran never expected the United States to implement the memorandum of understanding, stressing that the “Iranians have no trust in the Trump regime.”

He also added that “Iran knew that the United States would drag its feet as much as possible,” arguing that it had agreed to electronic signatures without a formal ceremony because of that distrust, adding that Iran’s leverage lies in its control of the Strait of Hormuz.

Marandi further asserted that “Iran won the war,” and warned that “Iran will continue to use that leverage” until the US fulfills its commitments, saying the future of the agreement depends on whether the US ultimately honors its side of the deal.

As for the signed framework agreement between the Lebanese authorities and the Israeli occupation, Professor Marandi said it is an attempt by Washington to violate the US-Iran MoU and an attempt by the US to “undermine the agreement”.

The president of Serbia announced his resignation

🔹 “Aleksandar Vucic”, the president of Serbia, announced that he will step down within the next few weeks and early presidential and parliamentary elections will be held.

🔹The announcement of this news by Vucic, who has been in power as president or prime minister for the past 12 years, takes place while anti-corruption protests led by students continue; The protests that started after the collapse of the concrete canopy of the railway station in the city of Novi Sad in northern Serbia in November 2024. This incident left 16 dead.

Last night’s strikes by the numbers.

CENTCOM carried out 10 strikes around the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran is now beginning to release the information of what was struck.

Iran carried out eight strikes. Confirmed : strikes on US bases in Bahrain and Kuwait.

The attack on the Green Zone by Iraqi forces (and this still has fog around it) seemingly was to target and arrest officials suspected of involvement in financial corruption. Iraqi parliament members are scattering like mice, some fled and they are being forcefully apprehended.

US STRIKES IRAN AGAIN

CENTCOM has just announced a new wave of US strikes against multiple targets inside Iran, ordered directly by the Kiddy Diddler in Chief.

The claimed trigger was the Iranian drone attack on the Panama-flagged tanker M/T Kiku this morning near the Strait of Hormuz — carrying over 2 million barrels of crude oil. This came after yesterday’s US strikes in response to Iran’s attack on M/V Ever Lovely, following which Iran was given an opportunity to honour the ceasefire but chose not to.

➡️Iran’s Foreign Ministry has called the strikes *”an explicit violation of paragraph one of the MOU” signed in Islamabad.

➡️IRGC says it has already responded by targeting US military positions in the region and warned that further US action will be met with “a broader response.”

Trump told G7 leaders that he might withdraw from the Anchorage agreements, Axios reports, citing its own sources:

“Trump expressed his disappointment with Putin and even hinted that he might abandon the Anchorage agreements, under which the US agreed to Russia’s demand that it would control <…> Donbass as part of any agreement.”

From Africa, Burkina Faso severed diplomatic ties with France. Of course, France did not leave the region in peace, and continued old efforts at regaining some level of a fading neo-colonialism.

France condemned Burkina Faso’s decision to sever diplomatic relations as “hostile and unjustified”, characterizing this step as an “alarming deviation from the norm” on the part of the Burkina Faso authorities. The French Foreign Ministry stated that it is considering appropriate retaliatory measures in response to Burkina Faso’s unilateral decision. I’m watching what the Russian African Corps is doing in the Sahel region as retaliatory measures to me mean more attacks. There is nothing else that France can do.

“What is the Lebanese government doing?”

Speaking to Al Mayadeen, Professor Mohammad Marandi dismissed the newly announced framework agreement between Lebanese authorities and “Israel”, sponsored by the United States, arguing that it was designed solely to “undermine the MoU, which is to the benefit of the people of Lebanon,” asserting that “the Iranians are not going to heed this agreement.”

“This is just a futile attempt by the empire to help the Israeli regime maintain a strong presence in Lebanon,” Marandi asserted.

He also affirmed that Iran still “has the leverage,” warning that Washington cannot expect Tehran to honor its commitments if the United States fails to implement its own.

Marandi also linked the entire agreement to the global energy crisis, saying, “If it wasn’t for the energy crisis, Trump would never have accepted the MoU.”

US Central Command claimed that the US military has conducted strikes against Iran, reportedly targeting Iranian missile and drone storage locations, as well as radar sites, according to a statement. Earlier today, Iranian state television reported that a loud explosion had been heard in Sirik, Iran, adding that the source of the blast remains unclear.

According to CENTCOM’s statement, the strikes were made after a ship was damaged while transiting Hormuz on Thursday. CENTCOM claims that an Iranian drone damaged the ship.

Iran’s Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) and the IRGC had repeatedly warned against ships transiting through unsanctioned routes and without prior coordination with Iranian authorities.

The US has carried out multiple airstrikes on Iran today.  This marks the first direct violation of the ceasefire on Iranian soil since the MoU was signed.  The U.S. says the airstrikes were carried out in response to Iran’s attack on a vessel in the Strait of Hormuz yesterday.

Other news from the region is that Hezbollah is threatening civil war after the so-called negotiations with Lebanon, Israel and the US, assuring that Israel may stay in Lebanon. What was actually signed: Lebanon commits to fully disarming Hezbollah and every other non-state armed group on its own soil, in exchange for a gradual, “verified” IDF withdrawal carried out in stages through so-called pilot zones, with the US overseeing the whole process. Israel, for its part, signs nothing binding beyond a vague promise to eventually leave once it’s satisfied the disarmament is complete, on its own timeline, by its own verification.

People in Lebanon are out on the streets to protest against US-brokered deal signed between Lebanon, Israel.

Footage circulating now shows Beirut’s government Serail surrounded by furious crowds after the Lebanese regime signed an agreement with Israel.

Protesters have laid siege to the Serail, the seat of the Lebanese government, after news broke that Beirut formally signed the framework with Israel. Popular anger is spreading fast across the capital. The Lebanese puppet government appears to have deployed the military against protesters. There are reports of troops firing tear gas at crowds on the road to Beirut airport.

Its Friday, so the Russian Defence Ministry gives us its weekly overview of the on progress of special military operation as of 20–26 June 2026.  This is only the major group strikes.  

❗️ From 20 to 26 June, in response to the terrorist attacks launched by Ukraine against civilian objects on the territory of Russia, five group strikes were launched by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

As a result, strikes engaged

▪️ facilities of the defence industry, fuel and power as well as transport infrastructures used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine,

Right, we’re back at the Spirit (now a ghost) of Alaska but this time through the eyes of Marco Rubio.  Who do we believe?  Putin, Lavrov, others who stated that there was an agreement, and more exactly the proposal came from the Trump side and Russia liked it and accepted … or ‘Trust me Bro it never happened’ Rubio.

We have to watch Marco Rubio who is tearing down and walking back one by one the agreements that the US agreed with, just a week or so ago.

Without consultation with Iran, the Sultanate of Oman issued a statement today announcing the establishment of a temporary maritime corridor in the southern Strait of Hormuz

Many vessels were already secretly passing through the Strait by using Omani waters territorial, but it was not coordinated and there was a risk of collisions and accidents, so Oman decided to make an official transit plan for this corridor.

The Omani route was already not accepted by Iran as valid, so the formalization of this corridor seems to have been the final straw.

The IRGC Navy released a statement criticising this move, which was done without any consultation. It could take even more ships away from the Iran-designated transit corridor.

Iran and Oman have released a joint statement confirming their intention to establish a joint administration over the Strait of Hormuz

The statement also confirmed that fees will be charged for maritime services ‘in accordance with international standards’.

FM Lavrov’s transcript of his address to the Ambassadorial Round table, Ukraine Crisis: The West’s True Goals and Role, is almost complete. It is important and we will post and discuss this as soon as it is complete. He makes thorough comments on Russia’s positional change and on the Iran and West Asia situation and this is the part that is not complete yet.

I trust it is completed today as it is important vis a vis Russia’s new position. Note this comment reported by TASS : Russia will not accept stopping at the front line as a condition for starting negotiations on Ukraine, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

Mostly we turn to Iran today and we will pose questions.

There are very serious accusations toward Pakistan as mediator in Iran now. Here we have not accepted the ‘Make Pakistan Great Again’ narrative. I’ll prepare for posting but it will take some time – probably late evening. In addition, Marco Rubio went to visit a number of GCC countries.  This was clearly a 2nd front being opened against the Memorandum of Understanding. Did you notice? (You did not think that the US is agreement capable, did you? You did not think Trump is going to stick to what he signed, did you?)  It did not take long:

You’ve negotiated three peace deals already and none of them brought the Bloody Netanyahu into the fold. Iran worked hard to bring the resistance together and Marco Rubio was sent to break this once again. What in holy hell are you doing there?  First requirement of the MoU makes that clear. Rubio, is a poor deluded one. Hezbollah is part of the sovereign elected government.

Please note the language … an International Waterway? He is a marine international lawyer now? The US does not accept any the international law in this regard. And also, the US does not pay any attention to international law by their own testimony. (It is the stinky fish methodology that he is holding up. Do as we say, and not as we do! How long will the Lebanon ceasefire last?  Hezbollah says an Israeli attack in southern Lebanon killed two civilians and breached the ceasefire.  Israel says it attacked armed men in southern Lebanon, citing security concerns near the Ali al-Taher ridge.

Israeli soldiers posted footage today of the uninterrupted demolition of displaced Lebanese homes in southern Lebanon, joking as they defy the so-called US-Iran deal that supposedly required Israel to stop such actions in Lebanon.

China hits 10 US firms with export controls

China on June 22 imposed export controls on 10 US companies involved in defence and rare earths mining, after Washington placed Chinese groups on a Pentagon blacklist. The measures cover dual-use items and require any ongoing exports to the listed entities to stop immediately.

The 10 targeted firms include Aveox, Oshkosh Defense, MP Materials and USA Rare Earth. Beijing also barred agencies engaged in public procurement from buying products made by 46 US firms, including Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Boeing’s defence division, units of General Dynamics and Anduril Industries, extending pressure across defence and strategic minerals supply chains.

The move follows a US blacklist issued in June covering 80 Chinese companies and subsidiaries, including Alibaba, Baidu and BYD. It adds a new layer of friction to efforts by Beijing and Washington to stabilise ties after agreeing to work toward lower tariffs.

Iran vs Belgium.  Iran was truly unprepared as they had no fair time to do their last preparation and of course, they spend their time on airplanes and lining up to be searched, instead of on the field focusing on their game.  Fútball.  The only Iranian goal was judged off-side but there is no disagreement with the call.  Can you imagine this team still playing under the current stress, and remaining civilized.

FIFA Pres Gianni Infantino commends the ‘RESILIENCE & PASSION’ of the Iranian national team (but does not solve any of the problems).  FIFA, who presented Donald Trump with the inaugural “FIFA Peace Prize. Yet, ‘Iran remains UNBEATEN’.

We are watching two major events on our planet. The first is the US-Iran negotiations in Switzerland today, and equally important, we’re waiting for Russia to indicate a change in their SMO posture.  (If we were Russia, the third event would be the stance of the EU against Russia but here, there is some time).

All participants arrived at the Switzerland venue, the normal diplomatic meets and greets and handshakes happened and the first discussions have started with a final discussion this afternoon.  The Iranian delegation refused to take part in a planned handshake and joint photo-op with the U.S. delegation. Mediators are Qatar and Pakistan. I consider them as facilitators rather than mediators. Today looks like a one day ‘sudden death’ session. Take a look at the featured image and see if you find any merit in the pitiful lineup.  For Iran, the leader is Ghalibaf who is not a moderate.  The mob of hangers on that stormed the planned negotiations for this past Friday are left outside and may not even enter the venue. This includes Grossi, who the Americans invited because they were going to discuss the nuclear file. Iran promptly disabused them of that notion and kept the discussions to the US non-performance of the first requirement of the MoU.  Without the end of Israeli war (a US responsibility) in Lebanon, there will be no further discussions.  These negotiations will center on the first paragraph of the MoU, which is Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon and seldom stated, the carnage in Gaza as well. For the US, it is question of No Tickee, no Washee.

Vance: Opening of Strait of Hormuz has ‘already been accomplished’. ‘Can we turn over a new leaf? Can we change relations in Middle East permanently?’. ‘Or do we go back to doing things the old way’. (Vance, it is the first part. You Go Back to your world because ‘the old way’ for you has passed and will never return).

It was a rare night of no attacks and war machinery was nervously quiet in West Asia with only a few brutalities in Gaza and the West Bank.  Bibi the Bloody told his ministers to moderate their insults toward Trump. The US tried some cute moves preparing for these negotiations, but Iran stuck to its agenda. These negotiations will indicate if we have a MoU going forward.  Both a Yes and a No will materially change our world.  Iran is in the process of another call-up and training of soldiers.

The Strait of Hormuz is closed but Iranian ships transit.  Iran holds the key to a major portion of our planetary power generation and as Medvedev states, this is their nuclear weapon.

Trump with his braggadocio, threats and bluster, serially violates the first requirement of the MoU and a few more.  He is threatening to ‘take their country’ to ‘break their country’ and other unhinged comments and blustering up a storm.  “Trump, in a Fox News interview:  “If you close the Strait of Hormuz, you won’t have a country. You won’t even be able to return to your goddamn country.”

1 — The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran and their allies in the current war are signing this MOU to declare the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon, and undertake from now on not to initiate any war or any military operation against each other, and to refrain from the threat or use of force against each other, and ensuring the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Lebanon. The final deal will confirm the permanent termination of the war on all fronts, including in Lebanon and other provisions of this paragraph.

Iranian delegation has lodged a protest with the US side and is now weighing options for an appropriate response to Donald Trump’s recent verbal threats.

China looks immune from global oil crisis

Global oil stocks remain depleted although an end to the Iran war is in sight – with the US and Iranian negotiators meeting in Switzerland.

But China is bucking the trend with state-owned oil reserves still near their maximum.

The Chinese remedy to the global oil crisis includes:

🔶 Building up stocks over years to strengthen national self-reliance

🔶 Export profits are ploughed into oil and other necessities rather than overseas banks or US debt bonds

🔶 Importing more oil before the war as a hedge

🔶 A near-immediate halt of most exports to conserve domestic supply

Unlike the West, China buys oil from Russia – avoiding the blockaded Persian Gulf route

Combined with lower home demand for oil-based fuels, that helped China keep reserves near full capacity – and it now needs to import less while prices are high.
