A Ukrainian drone struck a residential building in central Ekaterinburg – over 1,700 km from the Ukrainian border.  9 people injured (one hospitalised), 50 residents evacuated.

There is a need for understanding social media psychology. Accounts are not always authorities, decision-makers, insiders, or sound sources of judgment; they are often there simply to express themselves. Take them as they are, do not use them for serious processing, and do not present them as the opinion of the masses.  My favorite Yemeni cartoonist:

Cartoon by Yemeni artist Kamal Sharaf on the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting incident

So, everyone’s attention is now drawn away from the expected imminent new attack from the US on Iran.

This is a summary of the notes passed on from Iran to Pakistani mediators:

1. Emphasis on the 10 conditions & full commitment to them.

2. Readiness for rational & fair negotiation.

3. US has no right to set red lines for talks.

4. Iran will not surrender to US excesses (including no naval blockade)

5. The need for Pakistan’s neutrality

Major changes are in process on or around the internet.  Sputnik had this piece up, but it is way bigger than this.  Only one example, Mr Putin said that Russia needs an ‘internal internet’, that cannot go down if the internet goes down in the world.

How can the Global South defend its digital sovereignty from Western neocolonialism

Iran has given the world an example of how a country can resist Western encroachment on its sovereignty in the digital space, Argentinian foreign relations expert Tadeo Casteglione tells Sputnik.

During the mass riots that preceded the US-Israeli attack, Iranian authorities restricted the use of foreign-based digital platforms and introduced a domestic ecosystem, a national digital platform.

🇨🇳 China followed a similar path as, despite not being cut off from the Internet, it possesses its own intranet where the use of apps and data is controlled by the Chinese.

A similar approach is being developed in Russia since 2022, after the West tried to capitalize on its apparent lack of hardware and software needed to maintain digital infrastructure.

👉 Other countries, like Turkiye, also seek their own solutions to this problem.

While the alternative is unlikely to be implemented in the near future, Casteglione insists that there is a need of clear and consistent rules that would protect not just people but national sovereignty for the good of all.

What makes this painful is that each time a country or state takes a step away from the internet as current western, the technology changes, and in my view we are seeding a bifurcation in technology that makes it very difficult to keep track with the world at large.   The technical confusion and breakdown is a mirror image of the chaos generally in our world.  It is not only oil.

Today from Military Summary:  🇷🇺 Key points from the latest briefing of the Russian Ministry of Defence: over the past 24 hours, Russian air defence systems shot down 10 guided aerial bombs and 418 fixed-wing UAVs belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU). In addition, the army struck energy and transport infrastructure facilities in Ukraine. Furthermore, AFU losses over the past day across all sectors of the special military operation amounted to approximately 1,300 servicemen.

Question of the day ..

Summary:  On the 57th day of the US-Israeli war on Iran, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi traveled to Islamabad for regional coordination, and denied U.S. claims that negotiations were underway, as American envoys prepared to arrive without confirmed talks. Despite an extended Israel–Lebanon ceasefire, Israeli strikes in Southern Lebanon continued, while severe energy disruptions and restricted shipping flows signaled deepening global economic fallout.

A possibility:  Will the expected attack on Iran fizzle out, and will the results of the war be decided in the Strait of Hormuz only?  (Not talking about the economics fall-out.)

The war is over when the Turkish Army marches into Israel.
