The Biden administration is seeking to close a trade loophole that allowed China to avoid paying U.S. tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminum by routing those imports through Mexico.

The administration announced on Wednesday that it would impose a 25% tariff on imports of Mexican metals that are partially made in China to stop China from circumventing tariffs on Chinese steel.  Mexican aluminum coming into the U.S. will be hit with a 10% tariff if it contains metal that has been smelted or cast in China, Belarus, Russia or Iran, according to Lael Brainard, the director of the White House’s National Economic Council.

OK, but we hear that the US military cannot function without Chinese raw materials and components.  Why hammer Mexico?  And the US buys oil from India – Russian oil.

▪️ Once again, we witness the “lightning-fast reaction” of the main UN human rights advocate when it concerns events in Ukraine and an opportunity to baselessly accuse our country. This always happens instantaneously, without waiting for even a preliminary investigation of the incident. However, when it comes to civilian casualties in Sevastopol, Belgorod and other Russian cities, as well as in the much-suffering Gaza, Mr. Türk and his Office prefer to remain silent or respond with meaningless “formal replies”.

▪️ If the High Commissioner is so eager to discuss the topic of fulfilling international obligations, Mr. Türk could thoroughly explain to the Kiev regime, to which he is so attentive, the inadmissibility of using civilian populations and infrastructure as “human shields”. Furthermore, he should more frequently remind Kiev of the inadmissibility of placing military objects in densely populated areas. This also applies to Ukrainian air defense systems, the negligent and unprofessional work of which has repeatedly led to tragic consequences for civilians, and this time, to a large number of victims at Okhmatdet.

✨ Russia’s conditions are 4 regions enshrined in the Constitution and Kyiv’s refusal to join NATO. Demilitarization and denazification have disappeared somewhere.

So, Yeltsin avoided conflict if you read all of it.  Perhaps we cannot do that any longer.  The Imperialists cannot let Russia win the Ukraine war – because they cannot lose the Ukraine war.  So, they will continue breaking things and the world.  Perhaps we don’t want to allow that any longer.  This is a conversation that must be ‘conversed’, to coin a phrase.

To follow on from the previous piece, there is Ukraine’s new agreement with Poland.  This will convince you they don’t want to let go of war.

Article 20: “Participants agree on the necessity of continuing bilateral dialogue and dialogues with other partners aimed at studying the justification and appropriateness of possible interception of missiles and drones in the airspace of Ukraine, launched towards the territory of Poland, while observing the necessary procedures agreed upon by the states and relevant organizations.”

What This Means:

Potential for Increased NATO Involvement: By potentially allowing Poland to intercept missiles and drones in Ukrainian airspace, this agreement could lead to direct NATO involvement, a move Ukraine has been advocating for since the onset of the conflict.

Escalation of Military Engagement: Poland has already been scrambling its F-16s during missile strikes and has experienced incidents like the Ukrainian S-300 mishap that caused damage on Polish soil. This could escalate if Poland begins to actively use its air defense assets in Ukrainian airspace, effectively creating a “no-fly zone” over western Ukraine. (Something Ukraine has been trying to achieve since February 2022)

Risks and Concerns:
