The helicopter gunfight at Sinaola (#76866 ) may be a US attack on “cartels”… When one attacks an organization it is to be expected that they may shoot back, and not necessarily in the attack zone. If it’s a US attack in zone Sinaola the  US might reasonably expect a counter-attack on targets in or near El Paso….or really anywhere at all. If so the corn-fed lads may be a little trigger-happy with their new toy. A 10-day total grounding is huge commercial, cargo, general aviation, even medevac flights. That’s not something the FAA does lightly.

Whatever’s happening, it must be serious and highly sensitive. People in El Paso are going to be massively affected, and the lack of explanation just makes it even more mysterious.
