Hearing the chatter about losing track of location of crash magic F35 flying all-you-can-eat buffet … Remembering mysterious affair Craig Button and his wild ride…they say they never found the 500 pound bombs… Comrade Craig seems to have gone funny in the head…“…the Human Reliability Program seems to have failed us…” I wonder what really took place… beta test? Coincidence? Generally they say that when flying airplane there’s a destination. My wag would be he intended to drop on Vail… and that he may have been shot down. Strange story. He was about outta fuel, so maybe he blew the project as a result of intercept and maneuver resulting in jettison bombs to save fuel, but ran out anyway. Still no news on the missing US Marine F-35B that disappeared yesterday after the pilot ejected.

If somehow the magic airplane does turn up in a funny place I would be very amused. But I bet it simply crashed and sank. OTOH, the whispers say the machine is hack-able by electronic means and can be hijacked remotely. One idea does not contradict the other. Sooner or later nearly every “military secret” becomes known, generally quickly, unless nobody’s looking for it. Similarly so with magic machines…they generally get got and analyzed. Tested. Flown…etc.

Smoothie and I stand in different sets of memory and see the brass from different vectors…and we both see more or less then same shameful thing. In the years I did contract work for the Army I often witnessed contests of character and leadership among the commissioned ranks colonel and down. I also saw officers at the “O Club” sniffing some sort of powder in the latrine. The quality was in free-fall. That’s as to character…and of course the non-comm fellas would tell tales. The projects were framed legalistically but in practical sense corrupt. One of my superiors met a strange death by violence, deemed accidental… Which view I found highly improbable. There was money on the table, as Stumpy might say… not Queensbury rules. I was afraid.
Smoothie’s opinions tend to more professional matters… (and I agree there, but he’s the professional qualified to judge). One goes with the other.
Speaking of warm and welcoming African waters and Russian (and Chinese too I expect) port deals minds me to ask what these hard men see when they see the mighty USN…
My navy pals, former navy, the steam navy, left their chosen professional sailor pathways because of this stuff. They were fine with grog and a bit of lash (unofficial of course, but important to discipline) but they drew the line at sodomy on board… Take that stuff ashore, if you must do it. That was their most reasonable attitude…and then too, people do fall overboard, sometimes. Reason isn’t not always what happens.

Hi Theodora! In principle, it seems to me, the US is at this time in civil war 2.0 + . Not that I would care to take sides. Jefferson may happen. Alaska is liable to make arrangements of a suitable nature. Times change. I myself am, for several reasons, in the world but not of it, as Quakers and others sometimes say. I don’t advocate. More on this below.
In these days of observing the War For the World (WFW), which, btw I propose is a correct and descriptive naming, the observers tend to a categorization into natural sets. Among the intellectual set of subsets and at Salon H, it seems to me, we might say that the old people are somewhat more interested in how we got to this moment, whilst the more vigorous and younger people who are going to experience the outcome tend to be somewhat more interested in how it turns out.
Nevertheless people share a common interest in both “ends” of our “river rafting through time”.

Modern persons who do not know the character of the times will hear the Kennedy speeches of 1960-63 as chauvinist and repeating myth… you had to be there. He was seen as far left. Mother and Father supported.

The rabbi had a dream in which he asked for a way to combat the evil and end the suffering. Based on what he was told in the dream, he turned to the Jewish book of creation known as the “Sefer Yezirah” where he discovered the secret of creating a golem. On Feb. 2, 1580, the rabbi, his son-in-law, and his best pupil went to the banks of the Moldau River, where they built a man out of clay three cubits in length (about 54 inches). He inserted a piece of parchment inscribed with the word Schem into the golem’s mouth and chanted sacred words from the Bible. The creature came to life and was sent to spy on the Jews’ foes and shield them from persecution.
Each Sabbath, Rabbi Löew took the parchment out of the golem’s mouth to give him rest. However, one Sabbath, he forgot, and the golem went on a destructive rampage. The rabbi stopped him and, realizing that the golem had to be destroyed, performed a ritual until the golem perished. The rabbi and his assistants wrapped the corpse in two worn prayer shawls and placed him in the attic of the Altneuschul Synagogue, where the golem is said to remain today.
