This “defective style guide” has been observed, obeyed, very generally, by many journalists and legal professionals – for reasons too obvious to bear mention.
It is therefore astonishing, and brave, that Napolitano, if my ears heard correctly, plans to address, and presumably deconstruct this foundational lie with Richard Gage. I expect this to-day.
It may be that Napolitano intends to ravel out the truth, with his interview forming the thin edge of the wedge, a beginning.
If so, he intends to “dynamite the a-priory assumption” of the western myth, and the “authorization” or consent of the people.
