The ships are new and are being built at an American shipyard. The first one will arrive in Israel in a few months (according to other sources, in early 2023), the second-2 months later. The Navy has been preparing for the adoption of these ships for service for a long time. The amphibious assault ships will enter service with the new division (“Palga”), recently created at the Ashdod naval base. It is also known that after arriving in Israel, the ships will receive a number of Israeli systems, their installation and testing will take several months.

Amphibious assault ships are needed primarily in the event of a war in Lebanon against Hezbollah. And not only for landing from the sea, but also for supplying forces operating in the coastal direction. While the IDF (and primarily the 98th Parachute Division) uses only Manta Rays to work out this issue, the new ships will dramatically expand these capabilities.

Now Israel is hosting a large-scale Merkavoy ha-Esh exercise, designed for a whole month. As part of the exercise, a divisional exercise will be held in Cyprus next week: the 98th Division’s actions in unfamiliar terrain against Hezbollah. For these exercises, the IDF has leased 2 amphibious assault ships from Greece and another ship from Italy. In the sea, these ships will interact with missile boats and corvettes of the Navy.

If a long series of decisions and actions are taken that are carefully analyzed with respect to what probable outcome or result of the decisions and actions will be, say a fella likes to get high and drunk and drive very fast and tail-gate and bash into and wreck the cars ahead…and when sober consistantly works deliberately to repeat his actions…and does this for, say 24 years.  Then we may estimate, or predict, that he’s bent on self-destruction, and not on conquering the traffic, nor the roads. He may loudly claim many other goals…do his claims matter? Naturally I am, of course, not speaking of the US 😉

It does seem that’s what Occam’s Razor suggests though, does it not?

Noting that running away is better that defeat…especially in a zero sum racket when you’re outta chips. Ruskie does not bluff, they say.  The statements has two meanings. One is when Ruskie is the subject. The other is when Ruskie is the object. Both meanings are valid. The statement is generally misunderstood. That’s kinna sad.
