Only the imperial policy remained, though cloaked in various ways…and to-day the cloak has become transparent…as by degrees even the forms of the Republic have been erased.
Participant@60701 (previous thread) I brought up the idea that US industrial colonialism began with the civil war. Cronetoo replied with respect to the “war between the states” as a term in use, descriptive.
That’s true of course, so it is called. But I disagree – that’s not what I had in mind. Perhaps I ought to have written “imperialism” rather than “colonialism”… I propose that the “civil war” itself, as a term, and also “the war between the states” as a term, are deceptive. More accurately: Paul Roberts’ “War of Northern Aggression”. I propose that the war was not civil, and not between the states, though it followed that form – rather it was an imperialist war against the Constitution and all the states. Lincoln was indeed a tyrant and a criminal according to the terms of the constitution, and, incidentally, the Supreme Court. Recall – “In the beginning of the Imperial Period, Rome followed the form of the Republic”, if memory serves.
Assuming this view, the conquest of the western lands immediately following, and which conquest may be seen in the vast territories there yet held as “federal lands” and in the liquidation of the several nations there, and their replacement with Europeans, is clarified.
The general principle of the imperial state as such, as witnessed by actions, seems to have been and is now pretty consistent. Recall the post 911 plans to conquer seven countries, and the remaining overarching goal of conquering Russia and China, indeed the world.
I think we ought to see the so-called “civil war” as the first major episode of US imperial conquest, first it conquered its own Constitution and all the States, then went to war for all the rest. That’s my thought for consideration.

I wonder, since the idea that Macron is holding up “peace” in 404 is absurd, and the sex of “Mrs Macron” is pretty well known, what’s the worry? I wonder if the worry is that Candice will keep looking and discover very dark crimes, not simple kinky role playing and possible incest… After some thought, she’ll probably, imho, come to the same idea. Trump’s excuse does not compute…

I question the idea that Macron (or Trump) is in a position to have any significant effect on the reunification of Russia…bearing in mind both “Ukraine is ours” (Putin very recently) and Bismarck’s comment that “the Russians always come for what is theirs.” The claim that Candice is “holding things up” sounds to me like an excuse. But I accept the lady’s telling the truth…which leaves us with a question – what’s the problem, ok, the “wife” is a dude…so what? What’s the big deal?

While we may say that the incipient beginning of the colonial period in North America was indeed “colonial”… people from Europe displacing the native peoples, often by violent means, the character of that colonialism was poorly organized and essentially non-industrialized…there being no significant industrial base, no steel industry, primitive manufacture of gunpowder, and so forth. However, things changed. It seems to me that the first significant episode of violent industrially based colonialism was what is called the Civil War. Indeed, the voluntary Confederation of sovereign states was violently and illegally colonized by a central unitary state apparatus, “federal” in name only. To-day the fiction of state’s sovereignty is transparently false. Inviting people to consider this as a concept.
