Mr P, in the middle of the night i began to wonder about trotsky. no idea why? but reviewing what i thought i knew i quickly realized how little i know & how suspect the very little i know about him really is; all having been written by capitalist leaning academics. my encounters have been superficial, i’ve toured his house in mexico city & read frida’s sparse comments on his theories, as well as sketchy encounters with various cabals of trots, in montreal, london, nyny & berkeley, all of which were unsavory. outside of western bias i know little about the history of trotsky’s life’s journey or why he was viewed as such a threat. i intend to rectify this deficit.
perhaps you know if michael hudson has written or spoken about trotsky’s political theories or why they threatened the power structure so profoundly? i’ve heard michael speak about his family’s connections with his godfather, & it’s clear both his parents & aunt respected him deeply, so if any western mind might speak the truth about the man & what happened i believe michael hudson’s biography, essay or thesis would be the natural place to begin. thank you.
