As the commander of the strike group, Rear Adm. Marc Miguez, makes perfectly clear in the short interview linked below, the CSG was under nearly incessant fire during its entire stay in the Red Sea. They were constantly forced to aggressively maneuver to avoid strikes; had several close calls, and (most importantly) THEY WERE FORCED TO RUN AWAY BECAUSE THEIR AMMUNITION MAGAZINES WERE EXHAUSTED!
The Yemeni proved capable of seriously menacing the strike group, methodically attrited its munitions, and because of the very real risk of having defenseless ships struck, damaged, or sunk, THEY WERE COMPELLED TO RUN AWAY!
This is the plain and simple truth of what happened over the course of the protracted battle. So you can vainly attempt to mitigate that reality by calling the Yemeni “terrorists” and pretend all they have done is shoot at defenseless mariners, but that is a gross distortion of what REALLY happened.
And, lest this additional realization eludes you: if the lowly Yemeni have been able to chase away the mighty US Navy, you can be certain Iran, Russia, and China would pose FAR GREATER threats to mythical US naval supremacy
