Trump does a TACO and says he called off his major strike on Iran because “the parameters of a deal has been reached”, Iran and everyone in the region asked him to, Iran won’t have ‘the bomb’, Hormuz Strait will be open and Israel has joined the deal. Everything is conditional and he is doing this for the future benefit of the world. Neither Iran nor Israel immediately confirmed Trump’s account of the proposed framework or the claim that an attack had been called off at the last moment.

We need to take Trump running a country by tweet, with a handful of salt.  It is more likely that this announcement has to do with:

• Supply of weapons:
• US European Command lacks sufficient naval forces to continue protecting Israel from Iranian missiles, its chief, Gen. Alexus Grynkewich, has privately warned the Pentagon, the Washington Post reports.  Military resources are shrinking.
• US destroyers in the eastern Mediterranean have been a critical part of Israel’s air defense, intercepting missiles from Iran and AnsarAllah.  But the fleet,five destroyers based in Rota, Spain, have seen maintenance issues pile up.
• Another part of the fleet in the Arabian Sea is trying to maintain a naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.  The blockade is not successful.
• The US has now postponed arms deliveries to Europe, Japan, and Taiwan, allies that depend on the American security umbrella.
• Then, there is the issue of worldwide oil and commodities shortages beginning to become serious in areas and in the US as well as the mid term election is getting closer.
• Framing a ‘future benefit for the world’ is highly questionable from the Trump administration as a source and the world knows it.
• From Iran:  Iranian official: ‘Iran has not requested Trump not to attack’

On the streets of Iran, there is high skepticism.  The local talk is to keep preparing and remain vigilant.   This can be classified as a cease fire and not the end of war.  Iran’s first requirement is the end of war across the region.

From Marco Rubio, the US is back on regime change.  Rubio says on Fox News the Iranian government “has to change” as US shifts war goals again.  “You may not have a regime change, but the regime has to change,” – US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.  In this interview,  Rubio continued by casting Cuba as spy “superpower” threatening US from 90 miles away.  Cuba is at the same time a “failed state 90 miles from our shores,” while also according to Rubio representing a national security threat because of its ties to US adversaries.

Some of the first reactions on calling off the major strike on Iran:

Israeli Channel 12:  The Iranian Foreign Minister approved a Qatari-American compromise last night to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.  According to the proposal, ships heading to Gulf countries will pass through Iranian territorial waters and exit through Omani waters.  However, the Sultanate of Oman has requested official confirmation that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard supports the agreement.

The next is widely reported.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman personally urged President Trump to de-escalate amid fears that new US strikes on Iranian energy targets could trigger a major regional war. Meanwhile, Qatar, UAE, Turkey, and Pakistan are all pushing for diplomacy.

MBS called Trump – expressing concern over potential strikes on Iran. He urged de-escalation as Trump weighs military action following Iran’s missile attack on a US base in Jordan and continued Hormuz disruption.

Regional powers unite – Qatar, UAE, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan are pushing for de-escalation.

Qatari mediation – mediators held talks with Iranian and US officials over reopening the Strait of Hormuz, with “some progress” reported.

Iran responded:  Iran’s armed forces, early this morning, carried out drone strikes against terrorist group positions in Sulaymaniyah and Erbil, Iraq. During these attacks, U.S. Army C-RAM defense systems were activated to intercept the suicide drones, but the drones successfully struck their predetermined targets.

‼️Iran has pledged that it will not tolerate any terrorist activity against its national security in Iraqi Kurdistan, and will certainly suppress it.

Spain is facing growing political fallout after an estimated 60,000 migrants, including around 8,000 children, crossed from Morocco into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in one of the largest migration surges ever recorded at the EU’s African border. Spanish authorities say nearly 48,000 people have since returned to Morocco, while at least 67 people are believed to have died attempting the crossing. The humanitarian crisis prompted Spain to deploy security forces, accelerate repatriations, and declare a state of emergency in the enclave.

Based on statements from the Trump regime, it seems quite possible that after months of barbaric threats, tonight will be the last night of normality in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, the UAE, and possibly Oman.

If strikes are carried out against Iran’s civilian infrastructure, the critical infrastructure of these complicit regimes – along with that of the Zionist regime and perhaps Jordan- will be demolished.

China Condemns New US Trade Blacklist

China’s Commerce Ministry said Washington added 43 Chinese companies (https://www.zaobao.com.sg/news/china/story20260801-9454344) to the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act entity list on July 31, barring imports of their products, one day after senior Chinese and US trade officials held a video call. Beijing said the measures, which include capacitor maker Aihua Group, lacked factual basis and strongly condemned the move.

The US action was justified on allegations of forced labor in Xinjiang and rights abuses against Uyghurs and other minorities. Reuters, cited in the report, said this was the first expansion of the list under the Trump administration, raising the total from 144 to 187 entities and marking the largest single addition since the law took effect in December 2021.

Beijing said the step contradicted consensus reached by the two presidents and disrupted global supply chains. The Commerce Ministry said China would take necessary measures to protect the lawful rights of its companies.

This is an interesting move from the US.  What it does, is to cancel the very last snippets of the ‘leader to leader’ diplomacy, established with difficulty and really only theatrical, after Trump went to visit China.  China will allow Trump to visit in September but will give nothing as this is the message sinking in across the world now.  Give them Nothing. not even space.  We’ve now changed completely to the US so desperate to keep its feigned planetary leadership, that we are sinking into complete chaos and barbarism.

We have Iran refusing to negotiate before the US implement the dead Memorandum of Understanding, we have Russia that says negotiations will happen on their own terms and they will finish the job on the battlefield (and might just take the whole of Ukraine and give the Western Ukraine away), and here comes China, saying consensus is gone.   The US is now showing right up in the lights that they will not deal with anyone not willing to bow to what they consider themselves to be: superior.  The wars are the warnings:  ‘If you do not return to your masters, this may happen to you.  We’ve just had a excellent example with Spain and Morocco this week.  Of course Spain recognized Palestine, stopped trading and refused to take part in what we should now call the war on West Asia.

China Issues Huangyan Rules

China’s Ministry of Natural Resources, National Forestry and Grassland Administration, China Coast Guard and the Hainan provincial government jointly issued new management rules on August 1 for the Huangyan Island national nature reserve. The 16-article measure sets out management mechanisms, protection measures and legal liabilities for the disputed South China Sea feature, also known in the Philippines as Scarborough Shoal.

Under the rules, the Ministry of Natural Resources will oversee boundary demarcation, planning review, resource use management, asset accounting, registration and protection of territorial sea baselines. The South China Sea bureau under the ministry will handle daily administration, including resource surveys, monitoring and ecological restoration, while other agencies and China Coast Guard will operate through a coordination and information-sharing mechanism.

The move comes amid repeated China-Philippines confrontations in waters around Huangyan Island. On the same day, the PLA Southern Theater Command conducted joint sea-air drills in and around the area.

China Tests e-CNY Trade Settlement – cross border

China completed its first outbound digital yuan payment to Malaysia for a durian transaction, cutting settlement time to 30 minutes from the traditional multi-day process. The deal, reported by the South China Morning Post, marked a cross-border use of e-CNY in bilateral trade.

The transaction supports Beijing’s broader effort to expand the digital yuan in cross-border commerce and develop clearing channels outside the Swift system. It also aligns with China’s push to build alternative payment infrastructure with partner economies, including in Southeast Asia.

The payment adds a practical trade use case for e-CNY beyond domestic pilots. Further rollout will depend on wider merchant, banking, and regulatory integration across borders.

📍The following targets were hit in Kiev:

▫️the Kiev unit and component manufacturing enterprise of radio electronics (‘Radioizmeritel’ State Enterprise), which produces units, assemblies and components of an electronic base for the production of Neptune-MD guided missiles, FP-7, -9, and Grom-2 operational-tactical missiles, as well as developing inertial navigation systems for FP-1 long-range unmanned aerial vehicles of the Fire Point Company;

▫️the Kiev-1 electronics serial production plant (Burevestnik Kiev Plant State Enterprise), which produces electronic components and various components for long- and medium-range unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as the develops and produces radar equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine;

▫️the Kiev-111 industrial enterprise (Fire Point LLC), which produces components and combat units for Flamingo FP-5 ground-based cruise missiles. The plant also stores chemicals for the manufacture of solid fuel boosters;

▫️the Kiev-25 industrial enterprise (PV GROUP UKRAINE), which manufactures and stores software and hardware of the Lima electronic warfare system for the GNSS spoofing in high-precision fire engagement systems;

▫️the Kiev-21 unmanned aerial vehicle assembly and storage site. Unmanned aerial vehicles of Dead Fly, Hornet, Link Drone, and Thunder types are being assembled and stored at the site, as well as components and hulls for mid-range unmanned aerial vehicles.

📍In Kiev region, the Vishnevoye logistics centre, which receives, stores, assembles, and distributes individual components (units) for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles, has been hit. In addition, it produces components for long- and medium-range attack unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as assembles and stores combat units used in long-range UAVs.

💥 In addition, two dry cargo vessels delivering military hardware to one of the Ukraine’s ports were hit yesterday at a sea passage south of Odessa.

Russia is currently at a very important juncture in the completion of the special military operation – Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Medvedev.

Yes, we can all sense it. Commentators are counting strikes and measuring territory, but there are many other signs for example, soldiers, administrative staff from warehouses and military brass are selling their weapons. Over 800,000 units of weapons from Western supplies to Ukraine have ended up on the “black market” in Europe, according to media reports. Source: СМОТРИ

Russia will eventually deal with the drone strikes. Bear in mind out of say 800 flying drones, only one or two reaches a target, usually civilian. It is worrying because drones are flying to foreign-flagged vessels with international crews, chartered by foreign suppliers. The shippers include Tengizchevroil, a company partly owned by the US-based Chevron and involved in energy supplies from Kazakhstan.

And on July 30, the Kiev regime attempted to strike a site within the perimeter of the Zaporozhskaya Nuclear Power Plant.

With the end of the SMO in sight we still do not have an idea on what Russia would want with areas such as Odessa (port now completely blockaded). Russia had three major objectives. Ukraine must be denazified, (or western parts handed to the original owners which seems to be a real option according to President Putin, and then, NATO is still shakily standing.

There also is a mass of reporting that Friedrich Merz is drawing up secret plans to prevent German pro-Kremlin “traitor states” from obstructing Nato’s plans to defend against a Russian invasion. German officials fear the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party could frustrate the movement of allied forces through the two eastern states it is expected to win in September elections. (Hint – if it is ‘secret’ why is it all over the media landscape?)

What are we to think? I’ll tell you what we should think about – Germany and a large part of Europe is swallowing the message that Russia is their enemy and will attack them, so they have to go onto some kind of war footing and give up their savings and pensions. Realistic or not, that is the message. On the other side of the world, Japan and other quad members are seriously re-arming. We don’t have to guess at what Russia’s stance is here, since they killed off a certain Spirit in the Sky. They know this clearly and both Mr Putin and Mr Lavrov states that Russia is still a target to be broken up, balkanized and raped – the hope for that is just the same as it was when the USSR fell. It is the same for China, and China knows this clearly. In the meantime we’re looking at a planet wide shortage of gas and other goods, possibly ending up in food shortages and shortages of necessary commodities. My hope is that Russia gets done with the SMO, so that as a world, we have their hands free to deal with the big threats. China? China is ready and keeps to a ready footing. The DPRK is ready to learn from Russia. We need the middle countries (and that includes the Gulfies, middle only because they are still rich) to get their heads straight and stop making more war. This morning the news channels are hot with the news that Saudi Arabia is going to join war against Iran (I have not assessed that yet today). The battle on earth is against the current shrinking empire, and not against one another. In any event, the empire thinks Cuba is the biggest threat to them, in the world today. The first grassroots Venezuelan Popular Movements Protest ‘Against Imperialism and Zionism’ is active and a draft manifesto is being circulated. They are organizing. Hundreds of activists gathered in Caracas on July 24 for a rally organized by the Anti-Imperialist Front to denounce what participants described as growing US and Israeli influence in Venezuela and to reaffirm national sovereignty.

❗️In the evening 30 July, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continued launching air-based high-precision weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles against the port infrastructure of Ukraine and ships involved in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As a result of the strikes, the following were neutralised:

▫️at Odessa Port, POL tanks intended for the AFU use;

▫️at a sea passage south of Odessa, a dry cargo ship delivering military cargo to one of Ukrainian ports.

According to the Saudi Ministry of Defense, Saudi Arabia has launched an initiative to establish a “Multinational Maritime Defense Coalition” aimed at protecting international shipping routes across the Bab al-Mandab Strait, the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden amid escalating regional security threats.

The ministry said 14 countries have already backed the initiative, while additional states are completing their domestic approval procedures before joining. The announced supporters include Bahrain, Djibouti, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, the Maldives, Pakistan, Qatar, Somalia, Sudan, Türkiye, Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, and Saudi Arabia itself.

Notably absent from the announced list is the United Arab Emirates, despite Abu Dhabi recently expressing full solidarity with Saudi Arabia over “Houthi threats to maritime navigation”. No official explanation has been provided for the UAE’s absence from the initiative at this stage.

[Comment: OK, The US has managed to create a bloc of proxies (on paper) to help them fight this war.   There is not a navy or a real military to count on, in sight. The only three middle nations in the alliance are Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt and they have military resources, Turkey being the strongest. America did not agree to join the alliance, nor did any other European or Western country.

The US could not really interest Europe or even NATO. I wonder what the Maldives were coerced with?  They are a small island nation severely impacted by climate change and the voting pattern in the UN is more aligned with Global South. Really the population of +- 520,00 is that of a very small city. I have no idea what Djibouti, Somalia and Sudan are doing there, as to one level or another, they are all in wars.  We are looking at what is called the Sunni Defense Pact, just greater – gathering smaller nations. 📍The following targets were hit in Kiev:

▫️the Kiev assembly plant of artillery and small arms industry (‘Mayak Plant’ JSC), which produces components, combat units, detonators, and ammunition, as well as launch boosters for long- and medium-range attack drones of the FP-1,-2 types;

▫️Kiev industrial enterprise (‘Elektrotekhnichesky Zavod’ JSC), which produces medium-range reconnaissance and attack unmanned aerial vehicles, including multi-copter ones.

📍In the city of Lvov, the following targets were neutralised:

▫️the Lvov aviation industry repair facility (‘LDARZ’ Lvov State Aviation Repair Plant), which manufactures, repairs, and maintains turbojet engines used in FP-5 Flamingo ground-launched cruise missiles, as well as long-range and medium-range unmanned aerial vehicles;

▫️the Lvov-1 missile unit and component plant (‘LORTA’ Lvov State Plant State Enterprise), which produces on-board electronics for various modification of missiles, as well as radar systems for Neptune-MD guided long-range missiles, and an analogue of the S-300 SAM system (Project ‘Klon’).

📍In Ivano-Frankovsk region, strikes were delivered at:

▫️the Kalush industrial enterprise (SKB OVT LLC) involved in the production and storage of FP-5 Flamingo ground-launched cruise missiles, FP-7,-9 operational-tactical missiles, and Neptune-MD long-range guided missiles, as well as testing combat units for Grom-2 operational tactical missiles;

▫️the Kalush industrial enterprise (‘NEFTEMASH’ LLC), which is involved in the production of FP-5 Flamingo ground-launched cruise missiles, as well as the storage and distribution of components for them, including those supplied by Western countries.

📍In Rovno region, Russian troops engaged

▫️The Rovno chemical enterprise (PJSC ‘ROVNOAZOT’), which produces unit components and propellant components of missile fuel for FP-5 Flamingo ground-launched cruise missiles, FP-7,-9, and Grom-2 operational-tactical missiles.

📍In Dnepropetrovsk region

▫️the Krivoy Rog component and parts manufacturing facility of shipbuilding industry (Krivoy Rog Turbofan Plant ‘Akvaplast’), which develops, assembles, modernises, and stores attack drones and uncrewed surface vehicles, was hit. In cooperation with the ‘Energomekhcomplekt’ LLC produces and repairs towed and self-propelled howitzers, including those made of foreign components.

📍In Odessa region, a dry cargo ship delivering military hardware was neutralised at Yuzhny Port.

💥 In addition, south and east of Odessa, two dry cargo ships delivering weapons and materiel to the ports of Odessa and Chernomorsk were hit.

The Northern Sea Route is becoming very real:

China to launch first weekly container express via Russia’s Northern Sea Route

Shipping company Sea Legend Line Limited’s world-first weekly Arctic container service is set to start on August 15, following a successful trial last year, Xinde Marine News reported.

The service will offer eight weekly sailings from Ningbo-Zhoushan port through the 2026 navigation season.

👉 The maiden voyage, operated by the Dubai Tower container ship, will take about 20 days to reach the UK’s Felixstowe – the European hub for cargo consolidation and further distribution to other European countries, faster than conventional routes.

Weekly sailings will run from mid-August through the final departure on October 3.

At the heart of the project is Russia’s Northern Sea Route, which Moscow has spent years turning into a viable commercial corridor between Asia and Europe. Russia has built up its icebreaker fleet, satellite coverage, navigation systems and Arctic port infrastructure needed to support regular shipping through the route.

That infrastructure is now giving Chinese carriers a faster alternative to traditional passages such as the Suez Canal, while China provides the cargo volumes and commercial demand needed to scale the corridor.

NEWS | Rodríguez Gov’t Formally Protests Iran FM ‘Venezuela Backed Down’ Comments

The Venezuelan government has formally protested comments by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, summoning Iran’s ambassador and demanding an end to statements it says undermine Venezuela’s dignity, sovereignty and institutions.

The dispute follows Araghchi’s remarks contrasting Iran’s response to US-Israeli aggression with Venezuela’s reaction to the January 3 attack. Iran’s embassy in Caracas later said the comments had been taken out of context and reaffirmed the “deep and historic” ties between the two countries.

The episode comes as relations between the former strategic allies have deteriorated following January 3, alongside broader shifts in Venezuela’s foreign policy.

The UN Security Council will hold its first informal straw poll on Thursday to gauge support for seven candidates seeking to succeed Antonio Guterres as secretary-general.  We will keep an eye open as this will also indicate how successful Russia and China is in reforming the UN and specifically the UNSC.

Yesterday’s funeral and discussions in Washington were without substance and without any scintillae of truth. We will see what the real discussions were and how the west wants to continue its war. We see many commentaries that the war is against multipolarity. The answer is Yes. But there is another vector. This is war against the world. It is now coalescing and taking shape with enjoining West Asia with Ukraine and enjoining the IDF of Israel with the US military.  We are in World War III and the sides are taking shape.

Saudi Arabia’s stance has been known for a long time but they did a good job of hiding it, and not expressing it. Yemen is hardly in the news and few people know that Saudi Arabia is just about out of the oil trade. Instead, people are led to believe that Saudi Arabia is still a leading force in the region. We see a false reality being portrayed.

The comments from Qatar and Kuwait are a rare open confession of where they stand. Now, the many videos that try to extend the concept of the Ummah to the Gulf States to pretend some relief for Iran, or for saying that Iran is winning, may be reconsidered. I don’t believe this war is over. Iran is the winner today. We are just in a NoCrazyWar/NoPeace phase. This war may change to another vector. We have kinetic war interspersed with pretend peace and we have the economic juggernaut, so, nothing much is missing. We should be looking at the attempted ‘Sunni Nato’ not as a relief in the region, but as a continuance of governance from the empire to keep the status quo. The product that empire is selling is not much different from before. They are selling security. The same gathering of forces is happening in the East and around China – different countries of course. Let me say it straight – Sunni Nato is a Western attempt to keep the oil, to keep their empirical dominance and to keep you and I without ability to vision what the circumstances really are. Regional security is quite the word to use these days. Don’t be fooled. It is continuance of empirical governance.

We saw a pomp and circumstance visit of Xi Jinping to the DRPK. This was noticeable. Then, we are sseing the very regular visits between North Korean leaders, specifically military, and Russia. These visits are on both sides and serious people are involved. Over time, we mentioned these.  The latest, just recently, North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui visited Moscow and met President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The visit added to scrutiny over expanding DPRK-Russia military ties.

We are seeing cooperation between Russia and North Korea. Russia expects to receive another 30,000 North Korean soldiers. Preparations for their arrival are already underway in the Voronezh region, starting in June. In addition, North Korea is preparing to transfer new launch systems for ballistic missiles to Russia. This poses a threat not only to Ukraine. Russia is helping North Korea gain combat experience, improve its weaponry, and acquire practical skills in using weapons in real combat conditions. All of this creates a threat to all countries in Asia that are within range of North Korean missiles.

Except that they can do nothing to counter this.

When the AFU invaded Kursk Region, the newly trained Russian National Guard (not part of the Armed Forces) gave a good account of themselves to delay the incursion at the border until they ran out of ammunition, and apart from a few who were captured, retreated into the forest. They stayed there for some weeks until a Buryat Mongol who could navigate through a forest without any electronic device (to avoid detection) brought them out. The Buryat Mongols force was then joined by a brigade of North Koreans. That’s 10, 000 men. This force had already received Russian training in the Far East of Russia. They fought well and then were sent home. Russia then helped North Korea upgrade the production engineering of its missile production and upgraded their targeting electronics. The Koreans who had been in Kursk were distributed through three new brigades, to bring their experience to fresh troops. This training is now complete and so the three brigades, which constitute and army (30,000 soldiers) are indeed about to travel to Russia. They are going to fight in the SMO and will presumably bring back their experience to help train the rest of the North Korean land forces. The new North Korean launch systems are already in use in the SMO. Perhaps Russians have already been trained to use them.

It is plausible that this is intended to prepare to resist any South Korean/Japanese /US incursion into North Korea, Russia, or China. North Korea has already destroyed the roads that lead to South Korea. Far from wishing to re-unify the country, North Korea wants nothing to do with those people, it seems.

2.South China Morning Post: North Korea Expands Troop Support

North Korea is reportedly sending up to 30,000 additional troops to Russia, according to a South China Morning Post report (https://www.scmp.com/week-asia/politics/article/3361943/north-korea-sending-30000-troops-russia-win-win-analysts). The deployment would add to earlier North Korean personnel support for Moscow and gives Russia more manpower without another large-scale mobilisation.

The reported arrangement deepens military cooperation between Pyongyang and Moscow as both face prolonged confrontation with the West. The article says North Korea stands to receive money and military technology, reinforcing a broader exchange in which Russia gains troops while North Korea secures economic and defence benefits.

If carried out at that scale, the move would further institutionalise the Russia-North Korea wartime partnership. It would also increase scrutiny of sanctions enforcement and military transfers between the two states.

3.Seoul monitors DPRK-Russia troop reports

South Korea’s foreign ministry said it is closely monitoring military cooperation between North Korea and Russia after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia is preparing to receive an additional 30,000 North Korean troops for the war in Ukraine. Zelenskyy said preparations have been under way since June in Russia’s Voronezh region; Seoul said it cannot comment on intelligence matters and that no confirmed signs of an additional deployment have been detected so far.

Seoul reiterated that military cooperation between Pyongyang and Moscow in violation of U.N. Security Council resolutions must stop immediately. Government sources believe North Korea has already deployed about 20,000 troops and military engineers to support Russia, with around 14,000 estimated to be serving on the front line.

The report comes days after North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui visited Moscow and met President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The visit added to scrutiny over expanding DPRK-Russia military ties.

The Red Sea chokepoint: Saudi oil’s last escape route narrows

Saudi Arabia’s vast oil exports now increasingly depend on a single narrow escape route – the Suez Canal, as conflict in the Strait of Hormuz and now the Red Sea continues to redraw global energy flows, the WSJ reports.

For Asia-bound cargoes, the detour adds 20-30 days, raising freight and insurance costs.  The problem is that the Suez Canal is too shallow for fully laden oil tankers. To pass, a tanker must discharge roughly half its cargo, pump it through the Sumed pipeline across Egypt, and reload on the other side—or split the cargo between two smaller Suezmax tankers.  The Suez Canal is also too narrow for modern tankers.

👉 Iran has previously warned it could shut down Bab al-Mandeb and the Red Sea if the US continues its escalation.

Putin today, in one of his many comments during Russia’s Navy Day, defined an important issue, not only for Russia.  He said:  “Russia must act carefully but decisively against attempts to seize Russian commercial ships”  — Putin.

Putin also questioned the legality of Ukraine as a state or country saying:  “In the western part of Ukraine, there are lands that Stalin gifted to Ukraine after World War II.  But he gifted them within the framework of a single state.  Apparently, it never occurred to him that a situation like today’s could arise.

Putin also highlight a legal issue possibly indicating that Russia will handle the end of the SMO on this legal basis.  “By the way, I am sure that sooner or later, Ukraine will lose these western lands. What belonged to Poland, Hungary, and Romania will eventually, historically, return to its place.  There was only one guarantor of Ukraine’s territorial integrity—and that was Russia.”

I get the idea that Russia may just give those Western lands back to their original owners.  That would put the fox back in the European henhouse with some spoils of war possible.

On the issue of piracy, Peskov followed up in his briefing today:

“International maritime law is in force, according to which international merchant vessels cannot be armed, and therefore they are commercial vessels. Any other additional equipment for these vessels is also impossible, so this is out of the question in principle. But the fact that the Russian navy can take protective measures — yes, the president made an exhaustive statement on this yesterday,” the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

For the coming week, we will see Zelensky meeting with Trump, as well as Bloody Bibi (if they all stay alive).  Both are already on US media,  spreading their perverted messages.

Trump is continuing with ‘negotiations’. I have no idea who he is negotiation with. Iran’s MFA Spox says there are no negotiations with the US right now. Baghaei, in response to a question about communications between Iran-US, said: “Mediators may convey messages regarding current developments, but at present, we are not engaged in any negotiations with the American side.”

I don’t expect the full-on war on Iran to continue for at least the next few days for whichever of the myriad reasons quoted for the ceasefire.   It may be that the US Department of War has updated its casualty database, raising the total number of American forces either killed or wounded during Washington’s unprovoked war on Iran to 642, according to figures published over the weekend.

We may see some of the changes not seen in 100 years in the coming week.  Natural gas is very scarce.  The movement of liquefied natural gas through the Strait of Hormuz has been halted for nearly three weeks, with no ship activity observed since the last Qatari gas tanker was attacked earlier this month.

The West Bank

According to Israeli media reports, attacks by Extremist Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank increased by 63% during the first half of this year, with 30 hate crimes committed by settlers on weekends alone.

During those attacks, 140 Palestinians were injured and six were killed, compared to 82 injuries and no deaths in the second half of 2025.

The surge has coincided with increasing political support for settlers, protection provided by the Israeli army, and the continued expansion of settler armament.
