The new Eurasian security system proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to be the focal point of discussion at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. Putin has underscored the importance of prioritizing security within the SCO, stating that

a “decision was made to turn the SCO regional anti-terrorist structure into a universal center tasked with responding to the entire range of security threats.”

But what exactly does this new Eurasian security concept entail?

After floating the principles of the “Greater Eurasian Partnership” in late 2015, Putin reiterated and expanded on them during his annual address to the Federal Assembly in February 2024. During a meeting with key Russian diplomats in June, Putin emphasized the need to kickstart a comprehensive dialogue regarding bilateral and multilateral guarantees for collective Eurasian security.

The proposed roadmap includes:

◾️ Engaging in dialogue with “all potential participants.”
◾️ Creating a security architecture open to “all Eurasian countries that wish to participate,” including “European and NATO countries.”
◾️ Holding increased discussions on the issue with organizations operating in Eurasia, such as the Union State of Russia and Belarus, the CSTO, the EAEU, the CIS, and the SCO.
◾️ “Gradually phase out the military presence of external powers in the Eurasian region.”
◾️ Recognizing the importance of integrating the economy and social well-being into the Eurasian security framework.
◾️ Establishing alternatives to Western-controlled economic mechanisms, expanding the use of national currencies in settlements, and establishing independent payment systems.
◾️ Developing international transport corridors in Eurasia.

Hurricane Beryl seems to have where I live in the crosshairs.  Looks like she wants to pass about 85 kilometers from us with the strongest wind and water quadrant turned to us.  Coming across land across a peninsula, Beryl will have weakened to a tropical storm (which may be only a kilometer windspeed less than that of a hurricane) and is expected to pass or cross us sometime around 2 pm tomorrow. We will see the outer bands of rain and wind in the next few dark hours.  85 Kilometers is certainly not big enough in terms of hurricanes and they have a mind of their own and besides, I’ve never trusted a hurricane.  Her winds and rains should be fully off our coast into late Friday, into Saturday.   We are prepared and ready and strong and it is now for the waiting as she crosses from the ocean into the Peninsula over land.  Tedious and stressful and we hope she does not stall out and pour wind and water on us for many hours.

AHH will be here.  Bear in mind our houses are built of brick and stone and block and not of wood and siding, so it is a strong infrastructure.  The previous storm with this trajectory did not even put the lights and the internet out, so we hope for the best.  It will be an early night for me.   See Ya Post Hurricane!

Russian forces carry out group strikes focusing on airports, airplanes, trains, and wherever one finds weapons:  Last evening the SMO continued with the addition of decimating:

• three AFU artillery ammunition depots were destroyed,
• six AFU field ammunition depots were destroyed,
• 9 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force were neutralised.

In addition as part of the normal SMO, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost 1800 servicemen in the last 24 hours.

And Russian air defenses shot down 81 UAVs in 24 hours.

Here are the latest statements by Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov:
