I get what you’re saying, I definitely try to read widely to make sure my mind is not closed off.  I’m not 100% convinced I’m right on my geopolitical outlook, I can still be convinced.  America does not have a Great Firewall, we have a Great Firehose, and real information is carefully hidden behind the deluge.

When it comes to Ritter, I consider him a very dangerous propagandist.  His focus, the way he thinks, the things he communicates are all steeped in the paradigm of the western power structure.  Reading him is like watching American football.  Like he is a commentator on the game, and he’s the homer commentator for the team I’m not rooting for, playing up the big hits, diagramming how “his” team is going to destroy my team, except the whole time he’s pretending to be objective and unbiased.  “just telling it how it is”.

To me the biggest problem with Ritter is that his most talked about pieces all seem like they are targeting the morale of the opposition to empire.  “You’d better nuke them before they nuke you” is the way the west approaches nukes, not the rest of the world.  Feels like he’s on a US bomber dropping propaganda leaflets behind enemy lines.  So read him if you want, but probably needs a warning label like cigarettes.
