Who’s in charge> This question has long been in mind. I wrote a remark about the semantic shift from “teach” to “train”. River pilot… In the late 1980’s I spent much time afloat on big river. At night, softly turning the prop and slipping along with the exhaust rumble just a burble, and the horizon invisible since the stars’ reflection is nearly as bright as those in the heavens, sippin whisky from the coffee cup by the fathometer . Vertigo is prevented only by the compass light. Well, sometimes the fellas fishin’ along the bank took offense and sent one – I assume intended to miss. Everybody likes a telegraph, eh? Herr Model… I know very little of the German officers. I suppose David Irving has, or had, files and notes on the man. When I read stories about officers of that class and time and State I try to “find them” in memories of European upper class men I have known. I have had no luck in that direction. After making a long survey of existing films that caught our interests, we stopped paying attention to “modern” film stuff. Not interesting. Ugly. Sometimes in winter we listen to old radio shows and crack walnuts together…which is vastly better than modern films.

The families are blasted to atoms, factories rusted and demolished – the monstrous thing is set in motion, and there’s no putting westzone into good order. Parts were nice. Now we shall see what comes next. Big Adventure.
