In some applications large amounts of thermitic materials are in conjunction with the TNT, which may be considered an initiator…these are heated and dispersed in a hot blast wave, sometimes the blast materials are not stoichiometric but have an abundance of alkali metal series, aluminum 10% in the German WW2 bombs, iirc. Obviously superheated alkali metal as a gas mixed violently with 20% O2 is going to make some nasty burns… probably quite unlike those from say a propane explosion, imho. It’s easy to conceive a three stage arrangement, sorta A/F with TNT and thermite…I suppose maybe some P encased in micro plastic prills… ahdunno, Come to think on it, there was a nanothermite explosive Sandia Labs was flogging in 1999, iirc…way more energetic, and way hotter than TNT… I used to read their ads… Geewhiz, ytink they do too… 😉
