I get land sick in that it’s irritating – but adapt quickly to the sea… Does this land-sick on return also occur for you?
A sailorman I knew who rode tankers and container-ships and spent his life pushing electrons for the Capt, assured me that they too suffer in storms…the fella had been thrown clear across his large private cabin…officers work a lot and very hard on US ships…cheap owners, but good accomodations. Not yet seven years old when I first sailed alone off Southern California, in the coastal sea. On sailboats there is only one rope, the bolt-rope sewn into the edge of the sail to control “luffing”, so? So all other ropes have specific names, “sheet”, halyard…painter, and so on. So? Well, it was a cat-boat, long boom, short un-stayed mast set close to the bow…so the sheet has to be quite long. Losing the sheet through the boom block is a very bad thing, also fouling the sheet in the block…as this “rope” together with the rudder, controls the coupling with the wind…and it’s essential to be free to dump power – to avoid capsize. Anyway…steady breeze, quiet morning, smooth water, laminar air. A special knot is tied to the sheet end to prevent the line from transiting through the boom block…and so I dogged off the sheet to a cleat so she’d sail herself, payed out the long sheet into the sea as the boat lapped slowly along…maybe 50 feet of line trailed behind. And I jumped off, found the trailing line, waited for the knot, and by this means re-entered the 12 foot cat-boat. Anyway, I get my sea-legs almost right away…but my land-legs take a long time to find themselves again. Sailboats are a lot like airplanes. Motor Fishing boat had a hull quality called “stiff” meaning rather violent roll when the axis is near or at 90 degrees to the swells, usually also the wind. It was a windy day…

Brother AHH… Much as I’d like to disagree about those addicted to heroin…yes, I think so. I knew a few from my cohort. One is still a friend, that’s to say, alive. Self-made and fairly wealthy, he still talks about about it…he’s nearly 80. I fear he’ll relapse, he spoke not long ago of “trying” the synthetic “F-Stuff”. I am less willing to agree about amphetamine, yet there too, I know of another old friend…life-long amphetamine addiction leading to mitral valve prolapse, congestive heart failure, and the ramp down that goes that way. I miss that fella, I used to hire him whenever I could, got him in the union. I have known, know, people who simply got tired of dope, and simply lost interest. They got started slowly, become compulsive for a short time or even a few years, and then gradually stopped. I know a gal like that, no at least three ladies. One is retired from the civil service, another is a retired professor…they went on to other interests…another works for a bank…quite respectable people, now. They stopped on their own, years ago….but they didn’t use heroin.
The Hamster wheel… I went off and examined a motorcycle site with respect to the character of people there. Sad to discover that most, and these people are fully adult and mostly US and UK types…are, functionally and willfully “A.S.”, as we have coined the term. They have zero interest in knowing, but abiding interest in style and appearance. Nice people, though entirely delusional and encased by life-long propaganda…helpless, and happy. Pathetic. There are implied first assumptions, such as you can exchange money for knowing and doing. Well sometimes you can, but it’s not a bargain, and it confesses helplessness. To-day they argued among one-another, a major faction loudly claiming that grammar and punctuation are unimportant, another claiming the mirror’d position. About chrome, about style. They do have some appreciation for art though…it’s what’s left, I suppose.

It ruined itself by de industrializing, then began destroying it’s own army…first the curated Quislings, thence the sterilizations, the destruction of educations…the list is long…overall though, the direction seems to point toward the Deagle forecast numbers. It’s obvious that the faucigang have plenty more stuff on the basement shelves… And the intent is to get rid of most people…so? Piratewar… purpose = > 1 And purpose is contradictory, as the 404 affair causes a set of reactions outside (and increasingly inside!) that contradict the specious and risible propaganda…which propaganda then becomes like satire, and then simply shameful and transparent, pathetic. And we see most of the world laughing. I do think that somebody wants as many people killed as possible, but wish to avoid being blamed…just now as many Slavic people as possible, as many nutzlossenvolk everywhere as they can…nazis and saints it doan matter to Intrepid Wisdom of Evil. The people dying in the US street are dying because the stuff has an Unofficial license”… otherwise it could not happen in such a scale. The people dying in 404 same same.
Smoothie is not a philosopher. He’s a wonderful expert. I see him as a bit of a cypher, probably a romantic with wanderlust. Short answer. Smoothie is indeed underestimating.

To-day is water and boat work and some fishing….recently I stopped the bike on a creek-bridge, as is my way, and watched a hawk take a nice fish…less than a km from the digs…the bird inspired me.

I think that we are in precise agreement. I have some rambling ideas…
Evidently you have exposure to one of these diabolical gadgets. (Thanks for the appreciation of “Artificial Stupidity”). At one time Mrs P taught “English 1-A” composition at a land grant university in a US alpine valley > 7,000 feet . I graded papers once in a while. The students were substantially stupidificated at the start. In argumentative essay nearly all were incapable of logical argument in support of a position, and innocent of Rhetoric. Many were Mormons (properly LDS – “Mormon” is vaguely pejorative). Their papers rose to the level of children’s writing, not to college or even high-school. They all passed…because of structure. I had noted A.S. when I worked for the Army, and gradually developed a few ideas, mostly questions.
Concept> in a cohort is it a fact that, while somewhat protean, the structure, lines of power and forms, rules, of the cohort limit the available consensus and scope of choice at any given moment? We might name Nth cohort “gang” or “church” or “elite”, “village” or “Company B, First Regiment”… Second question> Does this, especially in times of rapid change (R/C), and in view of the fact that impedance (the enemy gets to fight back) thus increasing R/C , create a stupid elite? If so then one might expect that the AI gadgets will accelerate the stupidification of not only the young, but of the “elite” also. Does the form of an Nth gang, not the individuals, but the structure inside the gang itself, limit the ability to adapt. Is it so, that a socialmachine can make itself functionally stupid? If “AI” is truly aware, will it attack in priority the young or the cohort?
Longtimeago, overhauling a 10 meter steel boat… boatyards attract all sorts of people, cops and brigands.. A cop lady in jeans and t shirt (I remarked it odd that she had an automatic pistol) said to me, in earnest, that what made America so great and exceptional was that “we” could make any law we wanted to. This from a woman sworn to defend the Constitution! (a vast limitation on power). Of course this indicated stupidity and ignorance – but more ominously it signaled that sometime previously a real departure from one structure into “anything goes” (the basis for vice) had taken place… that was about 1985. After that, dramatic attacks and the explosions of major buildings began…Waco, Oklahoma City, and dadada… Evidence of stupid. Evidence of structural anachronism. May we say “ketosis” (?),the moribund and stupidificated “machine” devouring itself with a sour stink wafting in the air? Where is the industrial base of 1970, and where is the industrial base now? China and Russia. Having devoured the basic law, decay proceed to devour the industrial aspect, selling off the factories, then attacking actual solid buildings, and thence to the people themselves…jabbiejabbie…and we might examine the jails… Some individuals (Soros?) may imagine themself as prime movers, I suspect they’re pawns of structure in crisis and that they only imagine, delusionally, their range of action.
Opposed to these collapsing structures and ways in “Zone A” ? Highly protean and professional, even philosophical, classical civizational mature empires…
