When my contract work for the army came near the end we were treated to all manner of lectures as salve to our looming unemployment. According to Deming the reason, the function for business is to create jobs. This then might be considered to equate to the purpose of business is charity…to create jobs.

I did not see much evidence for this actually being believed or sought. Nevertheless of course, teach a trade, make jobs for people... wait!, are we the DDR again?
