SLAMABAD, May 10 (Xinhua) — India launched air-to-surface missiles at three air bases in Pakistan, but all strategic assets of the Pakistan Air Force remained safe in the attack, a spokesperson for the Pakistani army said in the wee hours of Saturday.
India carried out missile and drone strikes targeting multiple Pakistani military installations in Punjab province, including Nur Khan Air Base in Rawalpindi district near the capital city of Islamabad, Murid Air Base in Chakwal district, and Shorkot Air Base in Jhang district, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, director general of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of Pakistani army, told the media.
He claimed that India also launched drone and missile strikes in Afghanistan. 🤔
“These unprovoked and reckless acts demonstrate India’s madness and treacherous nature,” the officer said, adding that “through its continued aggression, India is pushing the region towards a dangerous and unnecessary conflict. Now you just wait for our response,” said Chaudhry.
Talking to Xinhua on condition of anonymity, official sources said that four missiles were fired at Nur Khan Air Base. Two of them struck the runway at 2:15 a.m. and 2:20 a.m. local time (GMT 2115 and 2120 Friday), while two others were reportedly intercepted by Pakistan’s air defense systems.
The attacks resulted in injuries to at least four people, who have since been shifted to a nearby hospital, the sources added.
Eyewitnesses, who gathered at the site shortly after the strike, said that one of the missiles struck a nearby residential colony, engulfing several houses in fire.

The geomagnetic field has undergone hundreds of polarity reversals over Earth’s history, at a variable
pace. In numerical models of Earth’s core dynamics, reversals occur with increasing frequency when
the convective forcing is increased past a critical level. This transition has previously been related
to the influence of inertia in the force balance. Because this force is subdominant in Earth’s core,
concerns have been raised regarding the geophysical applicability of this paradigm. Reproducing the
reversal rate of the past million years also requires forcing conditions that do not guarantee that the rest
of the geomagnetic variation spectrum is reproduced. These issues motivate the search for alternative
reversal mechanisms. Using a suite of numerical models where buoyancy is provided at the bottom
of the core by inner-core freezing, we show that the magnetic dipole amplitude is controlled by the
relative strength of subsurface upwellings and horizontal circulation at the core surface. A relative
weakening of upwellings brings the system from a stable to a reversing dipole state. This mechanism is
purely kinematic because it operates irrespectively of the interior force balance. It is therefore expected
to apply at the physical conditions of Earth’s core. Subsurface upwellings may be impeded by stable
stratification in the outermost core. We show that with weak stratification levels corresponding to a
nearly adiabatic core surface heat flow, a single model reproduces the observed geomagnetic variations
ranging from decades to millions of years. In contrast with the existing paradigm, reversals caused by
this stable top core mechanism become more frequent when the level of stratification increases i.e.
when the core heat flow decreases. This suggests that the link between mantle dynamics and magnetic

ParticipantIt tended to belch a lotta dark smoke for whatever reason. To the engine crew it was a new plant, boilers fueled by oil and feeding steam turbines. Bringing an unknown complex plant to sea speed is a long trial and error process…and far better to make smoke than to have a flameout and have to purge the boiler and then re-light. (re-lighting too soon can cause a massive explosion) The Ruskies were simply doing working up at sea with the carrier. Learning to run the ship. When over fueling, and also when running normally, soot builds up on the tubes in the boilers. Periodically one “blows the tubes” and the soot is blasted up the stacks. The USN fellas used to blow as they went under bridges 😉 especially the Golden Gate….sometimes they had loaded the stack with ladies underwear!
