Back in the spring of 1945, after Roosevelt’s death, it became clear that we would still have a drink with the idiot Truman … On April 23, 1945, he met with the USSR People’s Commissar for Foreign Affairs Molotov in the White House. It has been described many times. Truman somehow decided that the Russians would be impressed by his toughness.
Molotov tried very hard to explain our position, especially on the Polish issue. At one point, Truman interrupted him and lectured him harshly on politics. Molotov replied that the only way to cooperate was to respect each other. Truman said that he was not interested in propaganda and threw in Molotov’s face: “Fulfill our demands on Poland, and we will speak in a less rude manner.” Molotov turned pale, tried to change the subject, at one point said that he had never been spoken to so unceremoniously in his life. – “Fulfill your agreements and you will not be spoken to like that,” said the boorish Truman. He made it clear that the meeting was over.
How is this essentially different from “I am unhappy with Putin”?

But not because it was afraid of atomic bombs, although we did not have our own yet. The US and Britain stopped supplying equipment in the form of reparations from their zones in Germany, which was a condition of Potsdam. They deceived again. Also, the US did not withdraw its troops from South Korea.
All the histories of interaction between the USSR and the US, as well as the specific example of Truman, show one thing – they understand force and action. A bomb appeared – they began to hear. But they will always insult. The more boorish the performer, the less he feels the word. Unless it helps make money. And he easily gets offended himself.
And to the joke above, it is worth adding that in our Strategic Missile Forces the phrase “staff reduction” is also understood in a peculiar way.
