Do you understand why the French are so despised in former French African colonies? This was typical behavior.. the spiteful Brits weren’t only ones poisoning wells on way out. to be fair Mr P, i learned the big vocab and literary english ahead of my time through voracious reading, but I did have excellent formal education too. Ironically my high school was in USA, and in the New England of Ms. Dickinson. I had classmates from Amherst city too. Before HS I was in Europe and Africa and whilst my peers goofed around I stayed home and read; father was a task-master. When I came to the USA, I found the reverse happening – increasingly outdoors into sports and less time for reading. But the foundation had already been laid. Still, we had conscientious teachers, and my mentor was a History teacher.. There apparently remained pockets with preserved rigorous education into 80s…
