But if Rubio is sincere Trump is abandoning Biden-Deep State US exceptionalism (see Rubio’s Megyn Kelly interview) in favor of national self interest, that may be a very good thing. If a multi-polar world w US/Russia/China balanced in peaceful low intensity competition, that’s great.

We’ll know soon enough. If Trump goes to war with Iran and/or tries to remove the Gazans, that’s catastrophic.

According to a Sputnik correspondent’s analysis of public data on US foreign assistance from ForeignAssistance.gov, a US government website promoting transparency, in 2024, USAID set aside $1.34 billion, out of a total of $35.4 billion, for the Central African country, putting it in second place right after Ukraine, with its $6 billion. For comparison, in 2023, the DRC was in fifth place with $943 million, and in 2022 it was in eighth place, receiving only $837 million.

Most of the requested funds for 2024, $868.7 million, are dedicated to helping the country with emergency response. This is followed by funds for dealing with AIDS and basic health issues, $92.5 million and $87.7 million, respectively.
