But NATO is facing irrelevance. The alliance needs a purpose. It needs an enemy. It needs escalation to justify its existence and its budgets.

So watch the contradiction in Western media: “Russia is too weak to advance on the battlefield. ” and the very NEXT words we’re told  “Russia is also an existential threat that could invade Europe any day.”

Both statements can’t be true. But both serve the same goal.

They want to make Russia look weak enough that pushing them further seems safe. While simultaneously making Russia look threatening enough that massive military spending stays justified.

The strategy is clear: push Russia into retaliating. Cross enough red lines that Moscow has to respond with something NATO can call escalation. Then use that response to flip Western economies onto war footing.

Because those economies are beyond saving through normal means. The debt is too high. The infrastructure is too broken. The political systems are too captured.

A war with a big payout at the end solves everything. Wipes debt. Rebuilds industry. Unites divided populations. Access to Russian resources makes it all worth it.

That’s the gamble. Push a nuclear power until they snap. Then use their response to justify what you wanted to do anyway.

That bet scares me more than anything I’ve seen in 25 years.

The war between the SBU and the Ukrainian HUR (Intelligence Directorate) continues for the second day in Kiev, concerning the fate of Stepan Kaplunov, the deputy commander for combat training of the RDK*.

According to Ukrainian media reports, the incident began with the arrest of Kaplunov by unknown individuals right outside his apartment building. The unknown individuals turned out to be SBU officers, after which HUR special forces arrived to intervene on behalf of their protégé, where they clashed with SBU special forces, resulting in a gunfight, which Kaplunov’s former associates lost.

Currently, Ukrainian security forces have blocked Yuri Shumsky Street in Kiev, where the fighting took place, and are now arresting the “negligent” HUR officers. It is reported that at least three of them were injured – one was seen covered in foil in a video.

Interestingly, the SBU attempted to downplay the situation publicly, claiming a joint operation with the HUR to prevent an assassination attempt on “one of the leaders of the Russian opposition movement.” However, this entire narrative falls apart when you look at the footage from the scene showing a conversation between HUR and SBU special forces. Notably, the conversation is in Russian.

The situation is extremely ironic: the gunfight between two Ukrainian intelligence agencies was caused by a traitor from Russia. A real-life anecdote about a Ukrainian partisan unit.

As a result of a shootout with the SBU (Security Service of Ukraine), one employee of the HUR (Main Intelligence Directorate) was killed, and two were injured, according to Ukrainian media.

Footage from the scene has also been released, showing a large number of special forces personnel and the moment paramedics arrived to assist the injured.

It is reported that officers from the State Bureau of Investigations (DBR) of Ukraine arrived to resolve the situation.
