‘No trace left’: Iran vows to wipe out US assets across region if Trump acts on new threats
The warning follows fresh IRGC responses to US strikes on Iran, and comes after Trump renewed threats to destroy power plants and bridges in the country
The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces released a statement on 16 July warning Washington that “no trace” of its infrastructure across the region will be left if US President Donald Trump carries out his latest threats.
The warning follows several overnight retaliatory operations carried out by Tehran against US forces in the region, following Washington’s newest strikes against the Islamic Republic.
Military spokesman Ebrahim Zolfaghari referred to Trump’s newest threat to bomb bridges, power plants, and key civilian infrastructure – as well as to potentially deploy ground forces.
“If recent threats made by the US president … to target Iran’s infrastructure … are carried out, then everything that has remained intact … that is, all the [US] infrastructure in the region – will be crushed by the powerful armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he said.
“There will be no trace of it left, as if it never existed,” Zolfaghari added.
He also vowed that Tehran’s retaliatory operations will become “more severe, more extensive, and more devastating than ever before.”
He went on to stress that US interference in the Strait of Hormuz will “in no way” be allowed by Iran.
The statement followed multiple announcements by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), detailing the latest responses to violent US strikes against the Islamic Republic late Wednesday and early Thursday.
The IRGC said missile and drone attacks targeted a C-RAM early-warning radar and an area where US troops were gathered at the Ali al-Salem Base in Kuwait.
The Iranian military made its own statements announcing drone operations against communications systems, a radar site, and fuel storage facilities at the US Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.
Tehran said the attack was retaliation for overnight US strikes as well as the recent attack that killed seven Iranian soldiers at a military barracks in Bampur.
The army also said it hit US sites in Bahrain and Kuwait.
According to Tehran’s forces, Iranian drones targeted Patriot defense systems, radar sites, and fuel depots at Kuwait’s Ali al-Salem Air Base.
Communications systems, Super Hawk radars, Patriot batteries, and other US assets at Bahrain’s Sheikh Isa Air Base were also attacked, the Iranian military said.
The escalation began with violent US attacks on Iran, marking the fourth consecutive night of heavy strikes.
US strikes hit multiple locations across southern Iran. Iranian authorities said four sites around Ahvaz were targeted, while areas in Kabudarahang, Hamedan Province, also came under attack.
Among the reported targets was the area surrounding Shahid Baghaei Hospital in Ahvaz, prompting a temporary evacuation of the facility – which treats children with cancer.
Several US missiles landed near that hospital overnight.
Authorities also reported limited damage to a fishmeal factory in Suza on Qeshm Island.
As Iran doubles down on all the terms of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) – which Washington agreed to and has now backtracked on – Trump has renewed his violent threats againstIran.
“I don’t like giving deadlines, but they pretty much know, they know the story … they better behave,” he said on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Trump threatened in a Fox News interview that “next week it gets really bad for [Iran] because next week comes the power plants.”
“We’re going to knock out all their power plants. We’re going to knock out all their bridges unless they get to the table and negotiate,” he added, stressing that attacks on Iran “will continue until I say it’s enough.”
