Tariffs Mexico:   Trump extends Mexico’s 25% tariffs for 90 days as talks continue.  President Donald Trump on Thursday said he would not raise U.S. tariffs on Mexican goods beyond their current levels for 90 days, in order to give the neighboring countries time to strike a trade deal.

Trump recently threatened to raise the blanket tariff rate on Mexican imports to 30%, up from the 25% duty he had previously imposed to address alleged cross-border crime and drug trafficking.  But Trump said Thursday morning that he would postpone any tariff changes, as a result of his “very successful” call with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.

I wonder why it is still presented as if the exporting country is paying for it?  The US pays but we all know,if the cost is too high, people won’t buy.

Burkina Faso to receive a mobile microbiology lab from Russia by December — capable of 800 daily tests.  Local teams will be trained on-site, boosting public health capacity.  The move follows high-level talks between Presidents Traoré and Putin, signaling deepening health & energy ties.

It is good to hear good news from the Sahel States:

On July 28, Russia and Niger signed a memorandum in Niamey to expand cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.  The agreement includes plans for training specialists, sharing technologies, and exploring potential infrastructure projects. It was signed during an official visit by the Russian delegation led by Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev.

South Africa though, does not look good.  They were fully warned but did nothing and now want to cry “We don’t understand”:   Trade Talks Deadlocked as South Africa Clashes with U.S.

Trade relations between South Africa and the U.S. are at a breaking point. According to Trade Minister Ebrahim Patel, negotiations have stalled despite Pretoria’s efforts. “We’ve done everything to avoid a trade war. Now we need clear answers,” he stated.

New U.S. tariffs — 30% on South African goods and 25% on autos and parts — threaten key industries like citrus exports and vehicle manufacturing. Thousands of jobs are at risk.  While gold and platinum remain exempt, South Africa argues this is not enough. In response, it offered major concessions: increased U.S. LNG imports, agricultural market access, and $3.3 billion in South African investments in U.S. mining and metallurgy.

Geopolitical frictions and internal challenges continue to hinder progress. The AGOA trade benefits remain in place until end-2025, but renewal is uncertain. Meanwhile, South Africa is pivoting (trying to pivot) to new partners in Asia, Europe, and Africa. A proposed trade framework sent in May still awaits a reply from Washington.  Of course they did not respond to the two requirements from Washington.  One was to get rid of the racism laws, and the other to get rid of the new law that allows for any good and any land to be expropriated without compensation.  There is no inward investment with these laws on the books.

Tariffs are failing.  Trump is failing.  He should have been in Israel yesterday because he needed to beat his head against the Wailing Wall.  What more do we need to say?  Yet, some US Americans discuss that locally on the ground, he is doing well.  I don’t understand this, as the Big Beautiful Bill is going to affect social payments seriously.

On August 1, most of the world will be tariffed.  The 10 percenters could not care as they don’t pay for this.  Trump blinked on Brazil in the tiff with Lula. After talking smack against him and the nation of Brazil, Trump turned around and gave tariff exemptions to Brazilian airplane parts, orange juice, and oil. Basically, most of Brazilian exports to the USA.

What will Mexico do?  Tariffs are set at points that will upend trade.   I suggest up North in the Big Babylon, you buy a case or two of tomatoes and freeze them if tomatoes are important in your life.  (They are in my life 🙂

China is going down a perfect diplomatic path:

China is willing to enhance communication with the US, avoid misjudgments, manage differences, explore cooperation, and implement the consensus reached between President Xi Jinping and President Trump, to promote the stable, sound, and sustainable development of China-US relations.

Both sides should respect each other’s core and major interests and avoid escalating confrontation and conflict. It is important to uphold the principles of mutual respect, equality, and reciprocity, refrain from unilateral hegemony, and do more meaningful, practical, and beneficial things that serve the interests of both countries and the world.

Talking about the perfect diplomatic path, Mr Lavrov’s meeting with Syria followed such a perfect diplomatic path.

Russia continues with its attrition:

Last night, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation delivered a group strike by long-range precision weaponry and attack unmanned aerial vehicles at Ukrainian defence industry enterprises, infrastructure of a military airfield, one ammunition depot, one missile weaponry depot, and one UAV components depot.

✅ The goal of the strike was achieved, all the assigned objects were engaged.

Russia took the city of Chasov Yar in the DPR, the Defense Ministry reported. Smoothie says: Chasov Yar is of great operational and strategic importance. It is a commanding height that opens the way to the largest agglomeration in the DPR that remains under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces — Slavyansko-Kramatorsk, as well as to Konstantinovka. In turn, the liberation of Konstantinovka will cut off the route to Ugledar, along which supplies have been supplied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces group that has been defending there for many months. It will also be possible to outflank this group and encircle the city. As you may have guessed now, the next cities which will “lose strategic significance” after Chasov Yar and Krasnoarmeisk (Pokrovsk) for 404 are Konstantinovka and Kramatorsk.

In Pokrovsk, Russian assault groups continue to infiltrate the city and occupy new streets, causing chaos and disorganizing the defenders. At the same time, Mirnograd and Pokrovsk continue to be encircled from the north, where Ukrainian father-commanders are setting up new “meat shields” near Rodinskoe under FAB with UMPC. How long they will hold out remains to be seen.

Medvedev about Trump’s further threats.  I do not understand and feel that either Trump is dumb and does not realize what he is saying, or he is deliberately provocative.  Anyone who has been involved in international relations for even a short time understands what rhetoric like this means.  Now Medvedev has said it:

The Asian press is increasingly writing that the conflict that broke out between Thailand and Cambodia is an attempt by collective forces to interfere with the Chinese “Belt and Road”.

The Pan-Asian railway with a length of more than 6,000 km should transform Southeast Asia. Next year, a line was expected to be implemented in Cambodia, linking Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh City with Bangkok and eventually with China. Previously, the Chinese railway in Myanmar was frozen. Also because of conflict.

It is also noted that Cambodia is an ally of China, and Thailand is a partner of the United States under an agreement with joint military exercises and arms contracts.   By the way, there is a PLA base in Cambodia.

Dmitry Medvedev: Trump Wipes the Floor with Europe

Say what you will about Trump — for all his contradictions and bombastic statements, he’s remarkably consistent in one thing: ruthlessly pushing America’s economic interests.

This latest “deal” with the European Union?

It’s utterly humiliating for the Europeans — the only winner here is the U.S. It strips away protective tariffs and opens the European market to American goods on American terms.

It slaps massive additional costs on EU industries and farmers, who now have to pay for overpriced American energy.

It redirects a flood of European investments straight into the U.S. economy.

And, of course, the deal comes with the mandatory anti-Russian clause: no buying Russian oil or gas. For Trump, it’s just business. For Europe’s senile leadership — it’s a neo-Nazi ideology dressed up as policy, one that’s driving their own citizens into poverty.

Ordinary Europeans deserve sympathy. At this point, they’d be justified in storming Brussels and hoisting every last Eurocrat — especially mad granny Ursula — up their national flagpoles.
It won’t fix anything.

What Trump just did to Ursula van der Leyden and the EU is brutal. (Is it bad to watch with delight when the empire destroy one another?).

1. EU goods imported into the US will be subject to a 15% tariff (with some exceptions)
2. The EU will commit to purchasing US energy resources worth \$750 billion.
3. The EU will commit to investing \$600 billion in the US economy.
4. The EU will commit to increasing its purchases of US weapons.

The White House statement boldly claimed the deal “clarifies the rules of the game” for European companies—an implicit message that the EU must now operate under American-defined trade terms.

Aid convoys have started entering Gaza via Rafah crossing.   Dozens of Egyptian & UAF aid trucks have entered so far.  As far as can be determined, it is administered by the Red Cross/Crescent and UNRWA.

The Israeli army announced “tactical pauses” in fighting for “humanitarian purposes” from 10am to 8pm in only three areas of the Gaza Strip including Al-Mawasi, Deir Al-Balah and Gaza City, starting on Sunday.

The decision was coordinated with the UN and international organizations following discussions on the matter, the Israeli army said. Simultaneously, Israeli forces killed at least 15 Palestinians in separate attacks on Gaza since the early hours of Sunday, a day after killing at least 71 people, including 42 aid seekers, as five more Palestinians starved to death.

Hamas made a press statement:

The urgent arrival of food, medicine, and the flow of humanitarian aid to our people in the Gaza Strip is a natural right to stop the humanitarian disaster imposed by the Nazi occupation.

Taiwan may be slowly emerging from its quagmire. The first round of Taiwan’s so-called “mass recall” campaign aimed at suppressing opposition forces was held on July 26, and the results have now been determined: all 24 Kuomintang (KMT) “legislators” targeted for recall retained their seats, while Lai Ching-te suffered a crushing and utter defeat. KMT “legislator” Wang Hung-wei stated that this was “the people’s choice.” The 24-0 outcome reflects how Taiwan compatriots, through mainstream public opinion, delivered a resounding slap to Lai, whose “confront the mainland and seek Taiwan independence” agenda has been overwhelmingly rejected by the island’s mainstream public opinion.

Thai-Cambodian fighting for the third day reads like a replay from India-Pakistan.  Cambodia has now requested a ceasefire and closed its airspace near the Thai border.

On July 26, clashes erupted in a new flashpoint more than 60 miles (100 km) from earlier conflict zones.

Cambodian forces launched attacks in a new area near the coast in the south but were pushed back, Thailand’s military said.

Thailand also reported fighting in its Surin, Ubon Ratchathani, and Srisaket provinces, along the border with Cambodia.

19 people – 13 civilians and six soldiers – have been killed in Thailand since clashes started on July 24, according to Thai officials.

Cambodia’s defense ministry reported 13 Cambodians killed – eight civilians and five soldiers.

Thailand’s ambassador to the UN, Cherdchai Chaivaivid, urged Cambodia to “immediately cease all hostilities and acts of aggression and resume dialogue in good faith.”

Cambodia’s defense ministry accused Thailand of mobilizing more troops and military equipment on the border.

This sounds very good and is happening all over Europe, but in reality these announcements are still buying time for the zionist entity. The style is: make an announcement and sit back, hoping that one’s own support for genocide is whitewashed. The ones that cut all trade relationships, boycott, divest and sanction are the only ones that make a material difference.

There is much whitewashing going on as we see the state of siege and starving people to death reaching a level that very few can tolerate.  At last, souls and hearts are being touched as it cannot be otherwise.  Burning people alive in tents was not the human tipping point.  Bombing and droning 2 million did not do it.  Siege and starvation are the last dominoes.  Siege and starvation are not acceptable for most humans.  This is a state that the Palestinians probably cannot return from, as the whole of Gaza is starving.

Egypt is trying to whitewash itself, but it is Egypt that refuses and stops aid trucks from storming the crossing.  They also halted a freedom march from all over the world that was attempting to reach the crossing.  The aid does not belong to them, and the assistance does not belong to Israel.  It is aid that is donated by the world community and must reach the Gazans.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry: We have never closed the Rafah crossing at all. The crossing was taken over by the Israeli occupation authorities on the Palestinian side, and they are the ones responsible for closing it and preventing aid from entering Gaza.

EU and China did not resolve a single problematic issue at the summit in Beijing

▪️Relations between the EU and China are becoming increasingly cold. So much so that China shortened the program of the summit with the Europeans in Beijing from two days to one, which was received with relief in Brussels.

▪️President of the European Council António Costa and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen arrived for the meeting with Xi Jinping. Despite the protocol smiles, it was obvious that the parties were in a state of conflict. Europe tried in vain to convince China to use its influence to end the conflict in Ukraine, with copious references to the ‘rules based order’.

▪️Recently, Beijing has not even hidden its position: peace is not in China’s interests, since the conflict in Ukraine distracts US President Donald Trump from the Pacific region. (Note, this is the latest propaganda).

▪️There are other “elephants in the room” in EU-China relations: increased competition from the Chinese auto industry, opaque export controls on rare earth metals, threats against Taiwan, and human rights violations against the Uyghurs. (Note: Von Der Leyen tried her best to throw the kitchen sink at China with old debunked memes.)

▪️Ursula von der Leyen tried to start by complimenting China’s technological development, but then stated: “We have reached a turning point,” “A reorientation of our bilateral relations is necessary.” This turning point is the EU’s record-high trade deficit, which reached 305.8 billion euros last year.

▪️In response, Xi Jinping gave a speech without specifics, as specifics would have been wasted on the tone-deaf. “Europe’s current challenges do not come from China.”

▪️The only consensus reached at the meeting was the commitment not to retreat from the Paris Agreement on climate change.

The video is not very good but you will immediately see the tension if you have an interest. It can easily be skipped at this stage. Best to skip all the screen prompts and take a look at Xi Jinping’s address, Van der Leyden’s address and the President of the European Council António Costa. My best piece was when Van der Leyden’s challenged China to change the ‘relationship’.

Plenary sessions of the G20 Development Ministerial Conference have opened in Skukuza (G20 SouthAfrica).

A Russian delegation, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin, is participating in the event.

The conference agenda includes discussions on illicit financial flows, social protection, and the implementation of the SDGs, including in the context of reforming global institutions, development financing, and strengthening multilateral cooperation.

The Gaza weaponized peace talks fell apart again, or did not. My congratulations to Hamas for persevering in a civilized manner while those on the other side of the negotiating table behave atrociously, like the barbarians they are.

Trump spoke to the press before his departure to Scotland and he says Hamas does not want to negotiate and the killings on Gazan’s will continue. Mamood has a 20-minute overview that is accurate, but what is interesting — and we’ve seen glimpses of this —is that the Yemenis seem to be preparing for boots on the ground. Mamood also refers to the massive propaganda campaign that ‘Gaza is not starving’, and if we think there is starvation in Gaza, we’re just mistaken. Don’t believe your lying eyes.  “Hamas steals the aid provisions”.   The principled speech from Abu Obeida to Arab-Muslim Leaders and Peoples needs to be read and understood. The founding of Hamas initially led to a perception, especially among Western supporters of Global South issues, of untrustworthiness. As issues change, this has changed, and we’re dealing with a different Hamas that is no longer enthralled and controlled in Zionist hands.

As such, we are now getting reports of ongoing and daily security incidents in southern Gaza.  (That is zionist code for:  They killed our soldiers).  The Hamas fighters have new techniques, and an unmatched bravery.  Ambushes of IDF soldiers are now multifold, where IDF rescue forces do not get away as is customary.
