Letter / Petition:

A Moral Appeal to the World: Palestine Bleeds

To all leaders, thinkers, and conscious citizens of our planet,

There are moments in history when humanity faces a fundamental choice; between justice and injustice, between compassion and indifference. Today, we stand at such a crossroads. What we do or fail to do now will be judged by future generations as a test of our collective moral compass.

For over seven decades, the Palestinian people have been deprived of their fundamental rights and dignity. What began as the Nakba (catastrophe) in 1948 has evolved into a system of systematic oppression that meets all definitions of apartheid. Just as apartheid in South Africa had to fall and French colonization of Algeria had to end, so too must Israel’s colonial project be dismantled; not out of revenge, but as the only path to just peace.

As we speak, children in Gaza are being killed, families in the West Bank are being evicted from their homes, and an entire people are being denied the hope of self-determination. This must stop.

This is not merely a political issue. It is a profound moral challenge that concerns us all. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, on which we claim to build our civilization, is violated here every day. The right to life, safety, and a home; these fundamental rights are denied to millions of Palestinians while the world watches.

The recent genocide in Gaza, recognized by the ICJ in January 2024, confirms that Israel is not only a colonial state but also a genocidal regime. When a country commits such crimes, it forfeits its moral and legal right to exist. As stipulated in UN Resolution 194 (1948) and affirmed by countless human rights reports, there is only one just solution:

  1. Recognition of the Palestinian right of return.
  2. Abolition of all apartheid laws.
  3. Establishment of a single democratic state with equal rights for all.

This is not a call against Jewish inhabitants; they belong in a decolonized Palestine, as equals and not as oppressors.

We remind you of Martin Luther King Jr.’s words: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” What is happening in Palestine is not just a tragedy for Palestinians; it is a stain on the conscience of all humanity. Every day we remain silent, every time we look away, we become complicit in this injustice.

To the leaders of nations, we say: Your responsibility transcends borders and political calculations. History is not written by those who maintain the status quo, but by those who courageously stand for what is right. We demand that UN member governments:

  1. Sever all ties with Israeli security forces and stop providing military aid to Israel.
  2. Impose sanctions on Israel to compel an end to its genocide and colonization.
  3. Fully recognize Palestine and work collectively toward a democratic state of Palestine instead of an apartheid state of Israel.

To all people of conscience, we say: Your voice matters. Your choices make a difference. When you remain silent in the face of injustice, you side with the oppressor. But when you speak, when you act, when you refuse to cooperate with injustice, you become part of the solution.

Given the gravity of this situation, the solution must go beyond stopping the ongoing genocide. A structural solution is needed to rectify the wrongs of 1948. Palestine must be decolonized. This is a necessary act – difficult but inevitable – to achieve both justice and peace. It will finally mark the end of the Western colonial era.

Pause and reflect. We must first make the right moral choice, and only then consider how to implement it. When we start debating why something is impossible or difficult, we distract ourselves from our conscience. This has gone on long enough.

The question is not whether change will come, but which side of history you will stand on when it does. Will you choose justice or comfortable silence? Courage or calculated hesitation?

We call on you – leaders and citizens, East and West, North and South – to act now. Not tomorrow, not when it is politically convenient, but now. For every child that dies, every home destroyed, every life shattered as we wait, is one too many.

With the urgency this moment demands,

[Your name as co-signer]

Rationale / Plan:

Decolonizing Palestine

The state of Israel is founded on a colonial project that has transformed Palestine since 1948 into an ethnocracy, enforcing Jewish supremacy at the expense of the indigenous Palestinian population. This system of oppression – supported by Western powers – violates international law, universal human rights, and moral principles upheld by all major religions. Decolonization is not merely a political option; it is a legal and moral obligation for the international community.

Historical Context: Colonization as Israel’s Foundation

Israel’s creation was not a “return to an empty land,” as Zionist narratives claim, but a violent dispossession of Palestine. The Nakba of 1948, which expelled over 750,000 Palestinians, was not a side effect but a necessary component of the Zionist project to create a Jewish-majority state. This fits a broader colonial tradition of displacing indigenous populations in favor of a foreign group; a process that continues today through illegal settlements, home demolitions, and apartheid laws.

International Law: Israel’s Illegitimate Existence

Under the UN Charter (Article 73) and Resolution 1514 (1960), colonized peoples have an inalienable right to self-determination. Israel’s occupation and annexation of Palestinian land blatantly violate this principle. Additionally:

  • The Fourth Geneva Convention prohibits colonization of occupied territory (Article 49), yet Israel has built settlements for decades.
  • The International Court of Justice ruled in 2004 that Israel’s separation wall is illegal.
  • The Apartheid Convention (1973) and the Rome Statute (Article 7) classify systematic ethnic dominance as a crime against humanity; a label now applied to Israel by Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the UN.

The ICJ’s recognition of the Gaza genocide (2024) confirms Israel as not only a colonial state but a genocidal regime. A state that commits such crimes loses its moral and legal right to exist.

Moral and Religious Responsibility

No religion justifies ethnic cleansing. Judaism preaches justice (tzedek), Islam forbids oppression (zulm), and Christianity commands love for one’s neighbor. Yet Israel weaponizes religion to justify land theft; a perversion of faith. Morally, a state that commits genocide against an oppressed population cannot claim legitimacy. Decolonization is not revenge but restoration: a return to a society where Palestinians and Jews live as equals.

Countering Common Arguments

  • “This attacks Israel’s right to exist.”Colonial states have no “right to exist.” Rhodesia and apartheid South Africa no longer exist.
  • “Israel has a right to self-defense.”Self-defense does not justify genocide, colonization, or apartheid. The violence stems from Israel’s colonial oppression.
  • “This will lead to war.”No, it will end a 75-year war.
  • “Jews need a state due to antisemitism.”Security cannot be built on others’ suffering. A secular democracy protects all, without ethnic hierarchy.
  • “Decolonization means expelling Jews.”False. Just as white South Africans remained post-apartheid, Jewish Israelis can stay, but without colonial privileges.

The Role of the UN and International Community

The UN bears historical guilt for facilitating Israel’s creation. It must now:

  • Enforce sanctions (as with apartheid South Africa).
  • Establish a UN trusteeship to end the occupation.
  • Enforce Palestinian refugees’ right of return (UN Resolution 194).

Israel is a colonial anomaly in the 21st century. Its existence is incompatible with human rights, international law, and universal morality. Decolonization is not extremism; it is the only path to peace.

The West Blocks Justice

A harsh reality: as long as the U.S. and Europe protect Israel, decolonization will not happen. American UN vetoes, European arms sales, and Western media propaganda sustain the colonial system. But we need not wait. The Global South led by states like China, South Africa, and Brazil can force change. Europe must choose: follow or be left on the wrong side of history.

Why the West Opposes Decolonization

  • Strategic interests: Israel serves as a Western (U.S.) military outpost in the Middle East.
  • Political lobbies: Zionist groups (AIPAC, Christian Zionists) dictate U.S. foreign policy.
  • Colonial mindset: Europe denies its role in the Palestinian catastrophe.

Result: sanctions are blocked, war crimes ignored, and Palestinian resistance criminalized.

Final Appeal to Europe

Stop following U.S. foreign policy. Choose the right side of history. Partner with BRICS+ to decolonize Palestine. Halt the genocide and push for a structural solution. The world is watching.

The Global South’s Legal-Political Offensive

China, BRICS nations, and most UN members have repeatedly condemned Israel’s violations. Now is the time to escalate:

Step 1: Formal Non-Recognition of Israel

Legal framework: Under the Montevideo Convention (1933), a state must meet four criteria:

  1. Permanent population
  2. Defined territory
  3. Government
  4. Capacity for international relations

Israel fails these tests:

  • No legitimate borders (established by violence, not treaties).
  • An apartheid state (crime against humanity).
  • Commits genocide (ICJ 2024).

Actions:

  • BRICS+ declaration: “We no longer recognize Israel’s colonial authority as a legitimate government but as an occupying power violating international law.”
  • Suspend Israel from all international organizations (UN agencies, Interpol, etc.).

Step 2: Economic and Diplomatic Isolation

  • Trade embargoes: Halt oil, technology, and arms exports (China’s rare earth metals are key).
  • Travel bans: Bar Israeli officials and settlers from BRICS nations.
  • Recognize Palestine and demand UN membership.

Step 3: Military-Legal Pressure

  • ICC arrest warrants for Netanyahu and other leaders.
  • Non-Western peacekeeping coalition (led by China/South Africa) to enforce UN Resolution 242: Israeli withdrawal from occupied territories.

Why China?

  • No colonial history in the Middle East (unlike the West).
  • Economic power to enforce sanctions.
  • A stable Middle East aligns with its Belt and Road strategy.

Conclusion: The Time for Talk is Over

The West has chosen injustice. Now, the Global South must:

  1. Delegitimize Israel legally and politically.
  2. Build an economic and diplomatic blockade.
  3. Reform the UN to end U.S. protection of Israel.

This is no fantasy; it is a strategy that begins with one statement:

“We no longer recognize your colonial regime.”
