Mutual visits by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin to Moscow and Beijing, respectively, are being arranged to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Victory in World War II, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has told the media.

A celebration will be held in Moscow on May 9 to mark the anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, while Beijing will host a celebration in September to honor the anniversary of the end of World War II.

“Yes, such visits are in preparation. Trump has just threatened Iran again.  ‘I would like a deal done with Iran on non-nuclear. I would prefer that to BOMBING the hell out of it’ he tells NYPost.  He added ‘If we made the deal, Israel wouldn’t bomb them’.  Bear in mind that for the US administration, if they have nothing to say, they threaten Iran.  It makes for juicy headlines.

I am of the opinion that nobody excepting vassals are calling Trump and he fills in the silence with threats or coy comments.

Sometimes good things happen where you least expect them.  Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has formed a new 24-member government, defying U.S. statements by including ministers from Hezbollah and the Amal Movement. A total of five Shia ministers from these two parties have been appointed:

This marks a major defeat for the U.S. and Israel, exposing yet another strategic and historical failure. It is now clearer than ever that Lebanon without the resistance is not Lebanon, and any attempts to undermine Amal and Hezbollah are impossible. The resistance remains stronger than before, proving its ability to manage crises and maintain the upper hand on all fronts.

The Amal movement is closely allied to Hezbollah and it is called the Hope movement.  ( The United States is ‘extremely frustrated’ with Lebanon).

The Palestinian resistance has just handed over three Israeli captives to the Red Cross in Deir el-Balah, Gaza. The transfer follows a prolonged delay after Hamas accused Israel of undermining the ceasefire by restricting humanitarian aid.  The exchange took place in front of a standing building, which some interpret as a response to Trump’s claims that Gaza has been completely destroyed. This marks the fifth exchange under the ceasefire.  Hamas built a stage, and the transfer happened with music, pomp, and circumstance, with the usual Hamas presence.

As I said yesterday in the Dailies, the problem with South Africa is not their current serious social, constitutional, and legal upheaval.  Trump’s executive order suspending aid cites South Africa’s growing ties with Iran and its stance at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), where it accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza.

Note Iran and South Africa are both BRICS countries.

Iran has its own problems with Ayatollah Khamenei refusing to allow negotiations with the US and the Pezeshkian factions in opposition.  Khamenei said that the US is busy redrawing the world on paper, but it is only on paper and has no relation to reality.  If the US threatens Iran, it will threaten in return.  If the US disrupts Iran’s security, Iran will disrupt their security.

During a press briefing on February 7, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was asked about reports that Trump’s envoy for Russia and Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, was attempting to arrange a truce before formal peace talks.

Tomorrow is a release of prisoners (Gaza) and exchange of hostages (Israel) day. ith Trump’s proposed real estate deal (which will probably never happen), emotions are running high, so this may not be a routine day and may blow up. At the last prisoner release the Gazans were rejoicing in the streets and Hamas was out, looking very very good, and that irritated Israel. They postponed the release and changed the timing so that the prisoner release happened late and into the night.

Three hostages are slated for exchange.
After the Palestinian resistance handed over the names of the Zionist prisoners, 18 prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment, 54 prisoners with high sentences, and 111 prisoners from the Gaza Strip who were arrested after 7 October will be released tomorrow, Saturday, as part of the first phase of the exchange deal.

Marco Rubio confiscated the Dassault Falcon 2000EX aircraft that was in the Dominican Republic.

On Friday, the government of President Nicolas Maduro called the confiscation of an aircraft owned by the state-run Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) a “blatant theft.” The aircraft, which was in the Dominican Republic, was seized by the United States for alleged violations of its sanctions and export control laws.

Trump orders UN World Food Program to abort US-funded projects

The grants in question pertain to aid for impoverished countries, including Yemen, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, South Sudan, the Central African Republic, Haiti, and Mali, reports Reuters.

Some of the aborted projects fall under the auspices of the Food for Peace Title II program, which spends about $2 billion annually. UN representatives fear that the suspension will result in poor countries under-receiving 507,000 metric tons of food, which is $340 million worth.

Trump has earlier signed a decree ordering the Pentagon and Department of Homeland Security to prepare a detention center in Guantanamo for 30,000 illegal immigrants.

We see a continual walkback from claims boisterously made from the US.

1) The US State Department claimed Panama had agreed to waive canal fees for US government ships, but Panama denies it. The Panama Canal Authority, controlled by the government, said no changes had been made, Reuters reports. With the release of a formal document, the Panama Canal Authority flatly DENIES the State Department’s claim of a fee-free transit deal for US Navy and government vessels.

2) Nobody knew what Trump would announce in the press conference during the Bibi visit. Trump’s idea to take over and own Gaza took Americans by surprise, claims the New York Times. The reactions of Trump’s inner circle would bear this out, as they don’t know what to say and mumble about issues like ‘New Fresh Thinking.’

“When Trump announced his proposal to take control of the Gaza Strip, he shocked even senior White House and government officials. Although his statement seemed formal and thoughtful (he read it from a sheet of paper), he did not discuss it with State Department and Pentagon officials. Colombian leader Gustavo Petro calls on state-owned oil company Ecopetrol to sell its US fracking business and invest the proceeds in clean energy production in Colombia.

“If we are against fracking—which we are because of the death of nature and humanity—I would like this business to be sold to invest in Colombian clean energy. This should be discussed from a technological and economic point of view. Nevertheless, it cannot be that we are for death and not for life. Ecuadorian president Daniel Noboa says that the country’s government will provide financial and other kinds of assistance to all Ecuadorians returning from the US.

The measures include the distribution of $470 per person per month for three months to help the returnees “reintegrate,” training and scholarship programs, as well as “comprehensive assistance to Ecuadorians in unusual situations in the US,” he adds.

“Ecuador is your home. Here, together, we will create a country that you have gone to find. Here we take care of our own. Welcome to New Ecuador,” Noboa says on X.

US President Donald Trump took an executive action Tuesday to restore the so-called “maximum pressure” campaign on Iran aimed at preventing the Islamic Republic from obtaining nuclear weapon. Trump said he took the action somewhat hesitantly, adding that he hoped the measure would lead to a negotiated deal with Tehran. “So I’m signing this and I’m unhappy to do it, but I really have not so much choice because we have to be strong and firm,” the president went on. “I mean, we’re going to see they cannot have a nuclear weapon with me. It’s very simple. Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.”

China’s MOFCOM: US’ tariff hikes on Chinese exports seriously violate WTO rules, constituting unilateralism, trade protectionism: MOFCOM

In response to US government’s announced 10 percent additional tariffs on all Chinese goods to the US citing so-called issues such as fentanyl, China announced on Tuesday the additional tariffs on certain imported goods originating from the US starting from February 10, including a 15 percent tariff on coal and liquefied natural gas and 10 percent tariff on crude oil, agricultural machinery, large-displacement cars, and pickup trucks, per the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council on Tuesday.

China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) and General Administration of Customs (GAC) on Tuesday announced decision on export controls of items related to tungsten, tellurium, bismuth, molybdenum and indium, according to an announcement published on the website of the MOFCOM.

The second Trump administration believes that fentanyl poses a severe threat to American society and wishes to have domestic challenges resolved by other countries who, under US pressure, would intensify their enforcement efforts. However, such unilateral trade coercion violates WTO rules and disciplines, thus constituting the incorrect way to solve the problem.
