ParticipantAn editorial by an acclaimed theatre director Neelam Mansingh Choudhry :
“Brecht and breaking the fourth wall in theatre”
https://www.tribuneindia.com/news/comment/brecht-and-breaking-fourth-wall-in-theatre-536409
“The fourth wall is a term that refers to an imaginary wall separating the audience from the performer. This invisible wall makes the actors alert to the presence of the audience. In this, the audience becomes a voyeur, a sort of Peeping Tom watching life unfold on the stage but invisiblising himself/herself in the process. This notion was flipped around by playwright Bertolt Brecht, who used it to challenge western theatre conventions by appealing to the audiences’ reasoning power rather than their emotions. He dismantled the illusion created in theatre by revealing the technical and dramaturgical mechanisms behind the scenes, such as the source of light that was previously hidden by black curtains. The actors spoke in the third person, sometimes directly to the audience, emphasising the constructed nature of the performance. Brecht sought to always be alert to the presence of an audience. He would show the multiple ways of revealing reality, challenging established facts and questioning constantly.”August 19, 2023 at 09:37 in reply to: The Cornucopia – Art, Music, Poems . ParticipantResham Firiri is an old and very popular traditional Nepali song.
“Resham Firiri, Resham Firiri,
Oodera jaunki, danra ma bhanjyang Resham Firiri.”
My heart is fluttering like silk in the wind,
Shall we fly over or sit at the hilltop?
Fluttering silk…“Kukura lai kuti ma kuti, biralo lai suri
Timro hamro maya preeti, do bato ma kuri.”
Call the puppy with love kuti kuti and the cat suri,
Your love and my love is waiting at the crossroads.“Ek nale bandook, dui nale bandook, mirga lai taakeko
Mirga lai maile taakeko haina, maya lai daake ko.”
Single-barrel gun, double-barrel gun, aimed at the deer
It’s not the deer I aim at, I’m calling my beloved.“Aakash ma jhahaj shadak ma motor nabahye gada cha
Yo man jasto tyo man bhayae tagat ghada cha.”
If there is no plane in the sky and no motors on the road, then there is a cart,
If both of their hearts are similar, then love will be stronger.“Sano ma sano, gaai ko bachho, bheeriama Ram Ram
Chorera jana sakina maile, baru maya sangai jaun.”
The poor little calf is about to fall off the cliff,
I cannot leave you, my love, so let us save him together.August 19, 2023 at 08:50 in reply to: The Cornucopia – Art, Music, Poems . Creative Stories, Myth and further glories #17594Sudhi

If we lived infinitely
Everything would change
But since we are finite
Most things stay the same.– Bertolt Brecht

Karma is God’s hickory switch, and almost always applied with a cosmic chortle. Things come around when a certain excess cargo of cognitive dissonance breaks the brains of those just struggling to carry on. The country has had enough — enough walking-talking hypocrisies, enough trips laid on it, enough Tik-tok lectures from the nose-rings-for-lunch-bunch. We’re at the end of something and the beginning of something new. As in: an ass-beating is coming down.

ParticipantDear AHH, in re to the video, according to Linh Dinh’s recent essay the Music industry is now brazenly producing Satanic videos. The latest “it” music video, mentioned in his article, is totally repugnant and abhorrent to one’s mental well-being.
https://linhdinh.substack.com/p/horror-farce-from-afar
“Since I left the US for good five years ago, I can only observe it from a distance, thank God. Yesterday, I learnt about Doja Cat, the Satanic music industry’s new darling.Vigilant Citizen, “One way of identifying a current industry “it girls” is by the fact that they’re often draped in red. Appropriately enough, Doja’s latest single is titled Paint the Town Red. Even more appropriately enough, the song is all about sacrificing one’s soul to be in the good graces of the industry.”
It doesn’t matter if there’s no actual Satan, his total evilness is embraced by those who shape Western culture, and they’re not subtle about this. The West has become openly Satanic.”

ParticipantViktor Tsoi – A pack of cigarettes
I am looking out
of someone’s window
and seeing someone’s sky
I can’t see the star that’s mine,
I roamed on the roads
here and there
Now, when looking back,
I couldn’t trace my footprints.But if there’s a pack of cigarettes
in my pocket
Then the day’s not all that bad,
And a boarding pass
to a silver-wing-plane,
That takes off leaving
just a shadow behind. No one wants to be found guilty
without a crime,
No one wants to pick up embers
with bare hands
And death without music
is not romantic,
So I wouldn’t want to die
without music. But if there’s a pack of cigarettes
in my pocket
Then the day’s not all that bad,
And a boarding pass
to a silver-wing-plane,
That takes off leaving
just a shadow behind.Sudhi
Participant“And going by Karma, that a people get the leaders they deserve, the moral characteristics of the larger group also informs the success of the leader.. so it is a complicated affair.”
Dear AHH, the sins of a poor ruler are transferred in part to the populace. This is the law of Karma. When a ruler performs good deeds, which results in general prosperity, a part of the good Karma of the people is transferred to the ruler.

Participant“All is mine,” said gold;
“All is mine,” said the sword.
“I’ll buy everything,” said gold;
“I’ll take everything,” said Bulat.
– A. S. Pushkin
(“Gold and Sword”, 1826)“Before us is the historical dispute of Bulat and Zlata. Remember? I’ll buy everything, said Zlato, I’ll take everything, said Bulat. Money on the one hand, authority and power on the other. Differently – consumption and ministry. Now we are dominated by money. They are the goal, they are the main thing. Why does a man go to the governors? I have to, in order to serve Russia, but have a good salary from him, so that … not to be distracted from business. But money is not the goal. Are there such people in power? Of course. But there are those who go to power for money.” :
