I think it goes deeper than the below video says. China open-sourced their AI to prove to the world they do it better. Once the gap is obvious, the rest of the world, especially the Global South, but really everyone, will switch to using Chinese AI. When that happens, China will close-source their AI and lock it down to Huawei chips. That will effectively cripple the American AI industry and the silicon manufacturing in Taiwan.
