Sadly, I agree with your conclusions.

The US military buildup is not one for invasion, but for striking fear.  People talking about how they need a second carrier group, whatever, are not thinking this through.  They need like 8 carrier groups to really go after Iran.

Something else is being planned.  I’ve seen a few rumors of a buildup along the Caspian Sea as well.  That could be what the Russians are making noises about too.

FWIW, what I’m seeing being reported is that the US Army was testing a high-energy anti-drone weapon of some sort.  Using?  Testing?  Who knows.
