ParticipantConsciousness provides the materialization. Matter provides the reception of more consciousness. Our thinking is a logical consequence of evolution and that takes a lot of time. Man simply has this road to travel and so it takes a lot of time. Our thinking plays an important and inevitable role in that. Our thinking has brought us more civilization even if you are not yet satisfied with the level of it. Our thinking has made our world “smaller,” we “know” each other to some extent. Without thinking we would not have been here. We need our thinking to eventually leave the Earth, because the Earth is finite. So there is nothing at all wrong with our thinking. We still use our thinking clumsily and identify with it, which indeed still causes too many accidents. The question may be what needs to be done to take the next step that will really make us a lot more civilized. What I have “seen” here is that our brains will develop more bridge functions, so that our brain hemispheres with their own functions will work together more integrally. We can also become more ‘connected’ to the collective consciousness, there are plenty of indications that more people than ever are being born spiritually sensitive. We do not control this very much, but our thinking, I think, is very important in engaging in this process. Just as the master pulls the student up, the student also pushes the master up. Matter has a role in the whole, and our thinking is important.

ParticipantHi D Unknown. Thoughts are the only approach to being aware of the concept of freedom. Actually, man, like all of nature, is only free. Of course we can experience a prison in our thinking, but our thinking can also go in all directions. Certainly old thoughts can also be replaced by new thoughts through the thinking process, this happens continuously. That it is not easy is because our thinking has not yet evolved. Our thinking is not yet sufficiently coupled with consciousness, it does not yet work integrally with feeling. In addition, we still know little about consciousness and ‘memory’. Our connection with the collective consciousness, for example the Akasha, is important in this context. Our memory is not limited to our brain. Our character is not limited to our brain. Our choices are not limited to our brains. Whether and how a person is able to make themselves more free depends on all of these factors. Anything is possible, but to what extent the individual is able to do so is indeed.

ParticipantHi D Unknown, I’ll come back on this but need some time to get inspired. Happy New Year.

ParticipantWhen I write about life becoming more complex, I am referring to the sophistication of species. Humans are more complex in consciousness than dogs, which in turn are more complex than ants and so on.
How would I know? I don’t know.
Yes, everyone learns in their own way in their own tempo, even in classes. And everyone has a different start also, born in their own way.
The point remains; what are we talking about?

ParticipantWhat exactly is the point to be discussed here? Is it about freedom or about thinking?
Freedom can be experienced when in fact you are not free. Unfreedom you can experience while being largely free. It is just like how we can experience health. You can feel very good while you are unhealthy and you can feel miserable while you are healthy.
Human beings learn to think and that is simply the evolutionary process we go through. Our thinking process is far from optimal, but evolution has all the time and we in our one beholding life do not.
As life becomes more complex, awareness grows. Life forms become more conscious as the universe evolves. Stars, planets, minerals, plants, animals, humans and what comes next. Animals can move relative to plants. Their world expands and for that they need broader consciousness. In that same spectrum is time, because space and time are closely linked. Humans can move beyond Earth. That requires an even broader consciousness. To use time, you have to be able to experience time and you do that by being able to think about it. It is only natural for man to experience time and thus the past, the present and the future.
The assumption at point two, that all thinking is the avoidance of the present, is not correct in my opinion. To my mind, this is an example of distorted thinking. There is an awful lot of handing off of thinking, but we got it for a reason. That we do not yet use our thinking skillfully is something else. But how can you learn to think better if you don’t do it and don’t learn from the awkwardness.
Thinking is fragmented, but so is everything in the physical world. Only the consciousness of this universe is a whole. Our thought process reaches for it, but it is still unattainable. Indeed, we still identify too much with our thinking. We would be better off using our brain for what it is good at. We could use our feeling where it is good at. If we could use our thinking and feeling integrally, we would make a lot of progress.
Everyone learns in their own way at their own pace. That goes for readers and also for writers. We all come from somewhere and go somewhere. Thinking is part of that, in all its facets. Freedom can always be experienced in this, it is a choice.

ParticipantIt is hard enough to discuss one topic, let alone an entire book. Where to start? What is someone looking for? Is the other person interested in discussing a topic someone else is struggling with? What if there is a mess of information with no clear question or thesis
Is someone open to the other person and the other person’s point of view? Does someone very much want to be seen? Does someone want to be seen before they can look at the other person? Is someone receptive to feedback and backlash? Does someone approach the conversation with a monologue? Is there a common goal? Are individual goals compatible or opposed?
You indicate that you have learned things and that you have changed. I’m curious about that. Also about what you’re looking for. And possibly you also have questions for me or want to say things to me. You can always do that. We all have our own starting point, our own thinking and our own goal. Sometimes it comes together. That can be a lot of fun.

ParticipantWanting something does not make it come. In fact, when you want something very badly, the ego can get in the way to such an extent that nothing comes at all. Surely Krishnamurti also says here that truth cannot be put into words. When you are open to the truth, then you don’t have to do any work. To what extent can a person become more open to the truth, if there is nothing to do?
Opportunity is not the same as results. Everyone can run, but not everyone is born with legs. Everyone is autistic, but some more than others. How much can an individual deviate from his description? How many individuals actually use that maximum range of motion? How many individuals stay virtually where they are? There is potential, but is there movement?
It is good to see our potential and try to understand what our future is. At the same time, we may face the current situation and recognize that there is little we can do and a very long way to go.

Participant“(I am doing exactly what this piece says not to do, to repeat someone else’s words.)”
In fact, Krishnamurti does exactly what he says you shouldn’t do.
The question is how does one arrive at the truth. If not by the spoken word nor by the written word. Who is able to listen to the unseen? Can you learn that here on Earth or do you get that ability with birth, or not?
Nico Cost
ParticipantI have not read this before but came to the same conclusions. When we go inward we can find these truths ourselves easily. When we listen to others for too long and don’t do the ‘work’ ourselves we get polluted and depended. A true spiritual teachers helps you with the process (how can I find truth) instead of the content (what is true). And even a spiritual teacher is on a path to truth so he/she can be ‘wrong’ at times. Can the spiritual teacher avoid the ‘what’ completely? I think not, otherwise he/she wouldn’t be called a teacher. Earth is such a hard time.

ParticipantAmarynth, I do exactly as you described, but it’s not working. Maybe you can do it as administrator, but I’m in text mode and just copied the embed code here to see only the code but not the video. I searched youtube on ‘how to’, but it’s mostly explanations on how to copy youtube video’s to the blog instead of a forum. I think you use a forum plugin in wordpress and maybe that’s the issue. Are there any other people here who are able to post youtube video’s without being an administrator and able to adjust the size? Sorry for the trouble, but I always like to learn and do things myself. (Also a habit to be somewhat perfectionist).

ParticipantSigh, what is going wrong. I try to embed the video in text mode because otherwise it’s again too big for the screen as the video’s above and you see only the left half.
